1.3 Megapixel Flat Wi-Fi IP Indoor Camera
Review by Charlie Eads on Mar 26, 2014
You can find baby cams at places like Wal-Mart and Target for as low as $80 or so ranging to about $150. So why did I purchase this $249 camera to use as a baby cam from Security Camera king? There are several reasons. Here's my list:

1. No one, and I mean no one, can top Security Camera King's video security camera technical support department. These guys (and gals?) are impeccable. I have dealt with them before and every time it is the same courteous helpful service. There is no such thing as a "I don't know" or "it must be on your side" with these folks.

2. I already own a video security camera system for my home and this integrates with it very easily. If I choose to record I can and if I just want to monitor I can do that too. Moreover, when I have this connected to my system not only can I monitor it from any place in the house that I can monitor my video security system, but I can check on it from anywhere IN THE WORLD using my iPhone. Kinda hard to beat that one.

3. Not only is this camera loaded with features (the list is lengthy--read the specs) but it is portable. You can move it from room to room. In fact when Charles Jr. grows up, I'll be able to use this should we choose to have another child or move it anywhere in the house to use as a regular video security camera.

I think that should give you a good idea. I'd recommend it.

When you think of video security cameras, this one looks a little strange. When you think of a baby cam, the design makes sense. When you consider the functionality, you should be impressed as should you be when you see the quality of the video it produces. This is a nice camera, especially for inside the home is you have children. Since it is Wi-Fi you can move it from room to room at your will and the camera itself is loaded with all kinds of features. It's much more expensive than the cameras you'll find at Baby's R Us or Lowes for example, but the quality and capabilities also blow those cameras away and make the cost worth it.

1.3 Megapixel Flat Wi-Fi Indoor Camera -- Very Versatile

This is not your typical IP network megapixel camera. Not that it can't be used as one, but I'm just saying this camera has some really unique features that make it a great camera for specialty uses. I've sold a few of these to my customers, and to be quite honest, I think each one has used it for a different purpose. First off, the free standing WiFi features make this a portable camera that can be moved from room to room as needed. Depending on the purpose for it's use, this camera can take the place of several. The camera can also be used for "in house" communication since it has a microphone and speaker, thereby giving it intercom capabilities. It also has a PIR sensor (Passive InfraRed) that can be used for detecting movement of a person or people about the room. The PIR has an effective range of about 20 feet so it's good for just about any room. It has a micro SD slot for a micro SD card up to 32 gigs so you don't even need an NVR, you can record right to the camera itself. Oh yeah, did I mention this was a camera? Very good quality 1.3 megapixel resolution video at 15 frames per second is clear, sharp, detailed and colorful (when in color). I was surprised when the Security Camera King support guys were just as knowledgeable about this product as they are standard IP network cameras. Good job!

Let me begin my review by saying that neither I or my husband is a CCTV professional, however we are parents of brand new baby girl. My brother on the other hand, works as an installer for a local CCTV company. We were talking one day about a video security system and my husband decided that are budget couldn't afford nor did we require (at this time anyway) a full video security system. However, we did want a camera that we could use as a baby monitor. My brother recommended this camera from Security Camera King as we already have broadband Internet service with a wireless router. So we eventually ordered this camera on line. We received the camera in four days and as soon as we got it, we set it up for our system. In addition to the great picture, built in microphone for audio, and the passive infrared sensor for monitoring movement, the camera comes with many other features. However, I think one of the best things about this camera is that it takes the place of perhaps several "stationary type" cameras. Since it has WiFi, we can move the camera from room to room for whatever purpose we need. And, we can remotely view the camera on our work computers and smartphones whenever we want. We are very pleased both with the performance of the camera and the support we received from Security Camera King.

I am a do-it-yourselfer and have been a Security Camera King customer for about 2 years. I purchased and installed an 8 Channel Ultimate system in our home back them and have never had any problems with it, in fact I love it. Security Camera King's technical support department helped me with a couple issues back then and they were very good about it. In addition to these things, I am also a new father and my wife and I wanted a baby cam for our new daughter. Had I had the vision and forethought two years ago I would have saved an open channel or purchased a DVR with more channels perhaps, but as it is our current system is full. So, as I was looking for a solution for our "baby cam" needs I came upon this camera. It seemed to have everything we needed; great resolution, lots of extra features, and best of wall wireless Wi-Fi. So I purchased this camera and I have to say it is a great little baby cam. My wife and I can access it from work on our computers or from our smartphones and I don't have to worry about my DVR system that is already at capacity. This is another quality product from Security Camera King and I'm glad I discovered it.

1.3 Megapixel Flat Wi-Fi IP indoor Camera Is a Good Baby Cam!

I'm sure this camera has many useful applications, but if you want a high quality all-in-one baby cam monitor, this camera is one of the best. The camera records in 1.3 megapixels at 15 frames per second or 720p at 30 frames per second. If the 15 fps rate isn't fast enough for you and prefer the 30 fps rate, believe me the 720p recording mode will still be more than adequate for use as a baby cam. This camera is high quality and is loaded with features but there is one thing about it (which isn't unique, most cameras do this) that could be improved. I find that we don't need to watch a lot of recordings of our baby cam, that fore often than not we watch in real time, i.e. we use it as a monitor. Of course as a typical security type camera, this came dual encodes and sends two streams, one at the highest resolution you have selected for recording and one at D1 for monitoring. I would love it if it would stream the higher resolution period, so that I could monitor in that resolution as well. Other than that, this camera comes loaded with all kinds of features that make it an ideal baby monitor. In addition to the great recording quality, there are several operational choices available. If you already have an NVR you can connect this camera to your NVR network and record it there. If you prefer to monitor and record this camera on your PC using the applicable software you can do that too. It even comes with a Micro SD card slot for recording to itself (locally) so that it doesn't to be connected to the network. However, if the network application is used, it is fully WiFi capable (there is also an RJ45 network port on the back for hardwiring to an Ethernet cable). The camera has it's own built in microphone and speaker for audio monitoring and recording and includes a PIR motion sensor designed for detecting bodily motion. It also has alarm connections. Finally, placement or mounting is versatile. You can sit it on a desk, or flat mount it to the wall or even the ceiling. The mount has built in joints that allow manipulation of the camera for just about any kind of position. It does an excellent job and I am really impressed with it. One other thing. You can purchase much cheaper baby cams at local retail stores, but believe me, you won't get the same kind of support that I got from Security Camera King's technical support department. They answered all my questions and walked me through the set up process. They were great!

You're right Security Camera King, this camera does make a perfect baby monitor, especially if you have wireless internet in your home. We have this camera set up on the dresser in the baby's room and it's able to get a great shot of the crib and then some. As she gets a little older we can use it to monitor when she is playing in the bedroom. We don't do much with recording so an NVR isn't necessary. Since we have an Internet router with WiFi we can send the camera signals to the Internet and then monitor the camera remotely. My wife did come up with a good idea. She mentioned a few days ago that we should consider getting the Micro SD card and we can use it to record the camera when we are at work so during the evening the camera is a baby cam and during the day it is a baby/nanny cam. The camera works great and creates a good quality picture and it also has two way audio with a built in microphone and speaker so we can hear everything that is going on too.
