Detailed Feature List and Product Specifications |
I'm an independent CCTV contractor and I just installed my first HD-SDI system. The customer ordered these cameras and the DVR from Security Camera king and I installed them. They replaced their older analog system with this one. They wanted an IP network system because they wanted the benefit of having the fine resolution of megapixel cameras. When I called Security Camera King to check on what was available, the sales department suggested I offer an HD-SDI system with these cameras. It would save the customer money because I wouldn't have to run new cable and save me time. I passed along the information to my customer and they said that if it delivered the same quality picture as a network megapixel system that would be fine with them. Installation was so easy, it was just like replacing an analog system with another analog system. The camera records a great 1080p resolution video picture at a 30 frames per second rate, and uses the old cabling! Here's a suggestion to CCTV installers. If you have customers that are knowledgeable enough about camera systems and want to replace their older analog systems with an IP network system because of the megapixel resolution, tell them about these new HD-SDI cameras and systems. They'll save money and you will save time with the install and everyone will be happy!

You'll never get a clearer, better video picture than this from an analog camera! We have a fairly extensive security camera system for our company that consists of analog TVL resolution cameras, IP Network megapixel cameras, and now the new HD-SDI cameras. I think I read somewhere where these types of cameras were designed with the idea that legacy type cable (RG59 for example versus newer CAT5 cable) could be used so you could upgrade your system without re-running new cable. However, from my perspective, I can see where someone would easily want their entire system (new) to be HD-SDI. Not only to you reap the advantage of being able to use coaxial cable, but the cameras produce equivalent IP megapixel camera security video without bogging down your network and filling up your bandwidth like a network system would. This camera in particular produces a great picture as I said before. It has a 2.8 to 12mm varifocal lens so "moving in" on the exact shot you want isn't much of an issue and the fine detail that is captured is truly amazing. The camera also has it's own built in infrared LED illuminators and can project and infrared light beam for capturing in the dark of up to 50 feet. Like the network cameras it has a Graphical User Interface (GUI) only they call it an On Screen Display (OSD) that allows you to make some adjustments to the camera's electronic functions. It's an excellent camera and we are extremely satisfied with its performance. Also, Security Camera King's technical support department was extremely helpful to us in getting this camera and many others in our system set the way we wanted them. Kudos.

Excellent high quality recording and play back videos from this dome camera. At 1080p resolution (recording at 30 frames per second), this camera creates security video recording display that can't even be touched by my old analog system. Another feature that's nice about this dome camera is the fact that is has a varifocal lens. The 2.8 - 12 mm lens goes from wide angle to a zoom shot, granted the 12mm focal length doesn't give a tremendous zoom power but it still allows for some and can narrow the shot too.

I think this camera is a high quality HD-SDI camera that delivers an excellent 2 megapixel or 1080p resolution video. With this camera and its 2.8 - 12mm varifocal lens, I can easily pick up license plates on vehicles in my parking lot that are 30 feet or more away from the camera. On the other hand, I have seen 2 megapixel HD-SDI cameras available on line for almost half the price of this camera. However, in the camera's defense I should add that these other cameras did have varifocal lenses but no On Screen Display (OSD) menu system and they were not vandal resistant domes. They were much thinner and a lot easier to tamper with than this Security Camera King 1080p HD-SDI Dome. Of course I understand that as far as the security camera industry goes, this HD-SDI technology is just in its infancy but I suspect you'll see a lot more of these in the future than maybe even the IP megapixel cameras. I recently upgraded my older analog DVR system to an HD-SDI system and the best thing about it was the only thing I had to replace was the cameras and the DVR. In other words, I could still use my RG-59 coaxial cable that was run for my older analog system. So I got a total security camera system makeover, upgraded to the quality of an IP megapixels system, without the need for new cable runs. The video on this camera is incomparable, you really have to see it to believe it, it is just that good. I'd just like to see it at a slightly lower price, and for that reason I'll give it four stars.

This is an excellent quality camera and I was surprised and happy to be able to find it here at Security Camera King. We are in the process of updating our older analog security camera system over to digital but we really don't need to run networking to the cameras AND we already have RG59 coaxial cable in place for the existing ones. These cameras will save us the hassle of having to run all new CAT5 Ethernet cable to each camera since the cable runs are already there. These cameras, unlike some of the IP network cameras truly record 2 megapixel quality (1080p) at real time or 30 frames per second. So that in itself is great. They come with a 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens so that you can use the camera as an overview or wide angle camera or zoom in up to the 12mm focal length. They also come with about 35 infrared LEDs that give the camera and infrared range of about 50 feet in total darkness. Once again, whether it is color or black and white the resolution and quality of the video is outstanding. It also has an On Screen Display menu system that will allow you to achieve the maximum adjustments for your particular environmental conditions. The camera was easy to mount, set up (it has a 12 VDC power plug too) and configure.
