This is the way to go for a 16 channel IP network system. This NVR has the Power Supply (Power over the Ethernet) built right into the recorder so all you have to do is plug the Ethernet cable from the camera into the recorder. I suppose there are pros and cons to having separate POE units (for example if the POE unit goes the entire NVR must be serviced) but for convenience sake it is excellent. The NVR runs pretty quietly (I guess more specifically the internal hard drives and fans) and the entire unit, even with the power supply doesn't produce an excessive amount of heat. You can't beat all the features and of course the best thing to me is the fact that I can access my security cameras anytime I want from my LG phone as long as I have Internet access. Not only that, but Security Camera King makes their mobile viewing apps and programs available for free. Another very good side of Security Camera King is their technical support department. They are a very helpful group and are always willing to assist you or solve your problems for you if they can.

I certainly have no complaints with this recording unit. Sixteen channels of 1080p resolution recording blows away anything I've seen on TV news reports or other programs. You can't miss facial recognition with a system like this. When the NVR recorders first came out, separate PoE switches had to be purchased to power the cameras, which, quite honestly was a bit of a pain. With the built in PoE system in this recorder, it simplifies the installation process and makes it just that much easier. I hope to see more NVRs with built PoEs in the future so it will become the standard. The only drawback to this that I can see is that if something goes wrong with the PoE system, you'll have to send the whole unit in for repair (versus simply replacing the PoE unit and continuing on). Regardless, this is a high quality, outstanding power machine. To keep things in perspective, imagine your desk top or lap top computer trying to capture 16 HD video cameras at once! While I am being picky there is one other small drawback to this system. The cameras have to be configured from the NVR and cannot be set remotely. They can be viewed and footage can be reviewed remotely, but the cameras have to be set up from the NVR which is really no big deal. It definitely isn't enough of a deterrent to influence my rating; I'll go with five stars easily on this one.

What a nice set up! NVR and POE switch in one, with automatic network configuration and detection. Basically, all you have to do is mount the cameras and plug them into the NVR and plug the NVR into the network! It didn't take us long to learn how to work the On Screen Display to navigate around the number of menu options to set and configure cameras and the NVR itself. This unit also has 16 channels of alarm input that can be integrated with the camera use along with 5 channels of separate alarm output. We opted for two SATA internal hard disk drives and the Internal DVD burner and have found that we still have plenty of room to store our footage. When you take the few extra minutes to carefully set up the motion activated recording correctly, it can save you massive amounts of otherwise needed storage space for video recordings that you probably don't need anyway. We did contact the support team at Security Camera King and they were very helpful and provided service that I would say was beyond that of most other technical support departments (regardless of the product). There's no doubt that in addition to the what we consider reasonable pricing, great customer service, and excellent product performance that we will return to Security Camera King in the future for any of hour video security system needs.

I'm not exactly sure why Security Camera King calls this their "compact" series, because this machine is just about the whole system in one. The only thin you need is the Cat5 Ethernet or other network cable and the cameras. This Elite NVR demonstrates superior power and performance with 16 channels of high definition 1080p color security video that is just outstanding. We are very happy with this unit and even more so because it comes with its own 16 channels of POE (Power over the Ethernet) so there is no need to mess with switches. I also like some of the search functions because it make it quicker and easier to find the footage I'm looking for. If you need more hard disk drives or burners or whatever and the unit you have doesn't have it, you can always make use of the USB 2.0 ports or the eSATA port for external devices. This unit also handles the multi-user simultaneous remote access feature very well. Several of our employees are able to access the unit at once using their smartphones and when they do, it doesn't interfere with the normal recording/playing/operation of the unit.
