16 Channel Elite Series Standalone IP Security Camera NVR

We are currently using this unit in our corporate law office to provide exterior and interior security. The unit not only records especially fine detail but the over all quality of the recorded video is amazing as well, both in daytime lighting situations and at night. We use two simultaneous monitors, both the HDMI and the VGA in different places in our building. The HDMI also is used for the sound as we do have on camera that we record audio on. The unit has quite and elaborate On Screen Display menu system but with some working and a little practice you can adapt to it pretty quickly. I must admit that I also contacted Security Camera King's technical support department and they were extremely willing to help and were helpful and getting our system functioning properly. The voice intercom system works very well too. Plus, there is enough room in this unit to hold plenty of internal hard disk drives for extra storage, even if you intend to use the pre-installed DVD burner. (You'd be crazy not to, unless you need the room for storage, as Security Camera King installs it for only $37.95 more). We would readily recommend this unit to others.

When it comes to NVRs this is a pretty efficient and robust unit. We installed this to record our four IP megapixel cameras. In this day and age of vandalism, theft, and/or terrorism our company policy is that we just can't afford not to identify a potential suspect because we didn't have a system that recorded in a fine enough resolution. That being said this NVR records up to 4 IP megapixels cameras at 1080p at 30 frames per second. If you want to record more cameras than that, you will need to reduce the quality of some setting somewhere. For example you will either need to reduce the resolution size of the cameras or the frame rate of the recording. In that regard, I don't really appreciate the title of "16 Channel" Elite Series NVR because it would lead one to believe that it can handle 16 cameras at megapixel resolution. The truth is, however, that if you were to use 16 cameras and want to maintain a recording rate of 30 frames per second, you would have to reduce the recording resolution down to D1 for each camera. Who wants to pay $300 or more for a megapixel camera that can record in D1 resolution, especially for 16 of them. In defense of Security Camera King I can't hold them totally responsible for the terminology as all of the security camera companies do that these days. That' why I think it is important that you research your product, read the reviews, and the specifications so you know exactly what you are purchasing. The biggest advantage I see to this NVR over the Mini Elite is the fact that it has much more physical room to afford the installation of an internal DVD burner and additional internal hard drives for more storage. If your video recording is heavy (high resolution and continuous for example) you'll need this extra room if you plan to save your video data very long without dumping it some sort of archive medium. In addition the NVR supports external eSATA hard drives also to extend that capacity even more. Like most IP megapixel systems this NVR produces extraordinary quality video recordings with incredible detail. However, that is the "claim to fame" of the newer IP Megapixel system compared to the older "analog" system. If you don't need the extra storage potential of the bi-directional audio option that this NVR offers, I'm not sure you aren't far better ahead to purchase the Mini version for over a $400 savings.

This is a pretty good NVR. The IP megapixel cameras these days are outstanding, all of them, in recording resolution and the NVR is the key to making sure that resolution is captured and processed accurately. This Security Camera King NVR definitely does that. The biggest difference with the full Elite NVR versus say the Elite Mini NVR is the fact that there is a lot more room for internal hard disk drive video storage which you'll probably want and need if you do much recording. It's also large enough to handle an internal DVD burner which we had installed by Security Camera King (which, by the way, I don't think you can find much cheaper than $37.95). This unit supports an input and output for bidirectional audio and can also have up to 16 different alarm triggers or inputs connected to it. The alarms can be integrated with the NVR for camera control or can switch relays that can control external alarm notification devices. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) is pretty easy to navigate once you get used to it and set up is fairly easy. I'm not much of a computer geek so I must admit that I had to call Security Camera King's support department for help but the guys were excellent. I have to hand it to them; they were very knowledgeable, patient, and willing to help.

I've installed many security camera systems in my career but I really have to say that this Security Camera King 16 Channel Elite Series Standalone IP Security Camera NVR is one of the best! There's quite a bit of flexibility built in to the NVR's GUI (Graphical Users Interface) to allow for a variety of different settings to fit your particular needs. For example, 30 frames per second (real time) recording is nice, but it can be a real hard drive storage hog, especially at resolutions of 2 megapixels (1080p) with multiple cameras recording simultaneously. Many of my customers have been completely satisfied with a reduced rate but maintaining the high resolution (15 frames per second for example, is a pretty good frame rate for most security purposes). Security Camera King's NVR gives you to the latitude to do that. It is also loaded with a lot of other electronic features and settings that you can adjust to enhance your cameras' recordings or accommodate your special needs. Alarm inputs and outputs, sound, eSATA for additional external hard disk drives, extra USB ports, its all good. The display of this machine is really incredible. If you ever see the inside of one of these machines and realize how much space is available it is truly fascinating to imagine how much work is being done by a few small electronic chips. The NVR allows for HDMI and VGA video output displays and you can actually use both simultaneously. The three year warranty that comes with this unit is also a big selling factor among my customers. But that's not all. Unlike many other CCTV dealers Security Camera King doesn't stop there. They continue to provide support (whether you are considering a purchase, doing an installation, setting up your system, operating it, or even trouble shooting it) and they do so not only when you first make your purchase but later down the road if you need it. Their support staff is amazing!

We purchased this 16 Channel Elite Series NVR from Security Camera King here at work about 8 months ago. We haven't had one problem so far and I really like it. In fact I like it so much, I'd like to have one for my house if I could afford it. By the time you add the prices for some good IP megapixel cameras, the total can seem a little hefty for a middle class household income. Nonetheless, I started saving for one four months ago and in a couple of more months I believe I will be purchasing a system from Security Camera King myself. I think the key factor to this model NVR is storage and duplication! This NVR is in a 2U case which provides ample room for extra internal hard drives for storage. So much room in fact that the NVR can hold up to 8 internal hard drives with 3 Terabytes each for a total storage potential of 24 Terabytes! Our is a little less however, because we have opted to purchase the pre-installed DVD burner which takes up some of the room inside the unit. Still, there's plenty of room for storage because the NVR also has an eSATA plug and can handle Security Camera Kings NAS-4 unit which can ultimately add an additional 12 Terabytes of storage. Like the other Security Camera King NVRs this one has the capability to display three simultaneous monitors (in addition to using the network) by plugging each one into the HDMI, VGA, and BNC connections. No skimping here on audio either, there are 16 possible audio inputs and 1 audio input (in addition to the network). The On Screen Display, or in this case since you are apt to view it over the network, the Graphical User Interface, is pretty straightforward and intuitive so as long as you have some familiarity with networks settings and such, installation and use should be relatively easy. The NVR comes with a USB mouse for working the GUI right at the NVR if you have it connected to a monitor and it also comes with an infrared remote control. Or you can use the good old manual method by pushing the buttons on the face of the DVR. For convenience sake, there are also two USB ports on the front of the unit and two USB ports on the back of the unit. That way you can use the USB mouse along with other devices if you want to (USB flash drive, USB external drive, etc). The recording quality is unquestionable. Perfect would be more like it and it works well with personal computers using the PSS video management software and PC NVR client as well as with Smartphones and tablets. I'd recommend it!

I work for a healthcare company and in lieu of certain activity that has been in the news about other companies and their breach of secure information files we wanted to place a surveillance camera on our secure (paper) files room as well as our server room. As a result we purchased the Security Camera King 16 Channel Elite Series Standalone IP Security Camera NVR. As it worked out we only needed three cameras to completely cover our file and server rooms because of the high resolution of the camera! That was a pleasant surprise! So we used a fourth camera to cover the entrance to our offices. We use 4 channels at 1080p at 30 frames per second right now. However, if we should ever find the need to increase the number of cameras beyond our 4, I think we can easily get by with dropping the resolution down to 720p to make room for a total of 8 cameras. I mounted the NVR in our rack and we have a small LCD monitor in the server room should we need it for use with making changes to our NVR settings while we are in there, but most of the time we use our individual computers to access the NVR and monitor the cameras, so you really don't need a monitor if you have a computer. Since the NVR comes with alarm capability we've used that too. Bottom dollar is that the NVR and our system works great and was pretty easy to set up. The only place that I could see anyone having any difficulty with this unit is in the initial setup if you aren't familiar at all with network technology. If that is the case, Security Camera King's support staff will walk you through the entire process or you can hand them over remote control capabilities and they'll even set it up for you! I highly recommend this product.
I'm a professional in the security business and I rely heavily on security cameras to assist me in my work. I've been using security surveillance systems in a variety of ways for about the past 30 years or so. I remember when the first system I used consisted of a video TAPE recorder and a loop tape. The camera recorded to the VTR and once the end of the tape was reached in automatically taped over previously recorded footage. Everything was in black and white at a pretty poor resolution too. Then the DVRs came along with "high" resolution cameras. They had much better resolution and recorded in color. I recently purchased the Security Camera King 16 Channel Elite Series Standalone IP Security Camera NVR and what a quantum leap for the old days! I expect these to be the "norm" in the near future, especially as technology produces faster and bigger memory storage containers (like hard disks or other drives). I'm not sure how much better the resolution can get or if it needs to get much better. Perhaps instead of the resolution getting better, the price will just come down on the IP megapixel cameras and the NVRs. At any rate, this system is simply outstanding. You get all the benefits of a standard Security King DVR but with the versatility of network and Internet use and a resolution that is simply untouched by a 700 TVL resolution camera. This unit also has room for a DVD burner for making copies of footage if necessary and extra room for internal storage drives (you'll probably need them with the high resolution). I haven't had any operating problems with mine although I did have to contact Security Camera King's support for help on setting it up (A computer or Internet buff I am not) and they were absolutely great. They understood my problems were willing to help me with them, had the knowledge to do so, and gave me clear and concise instructions on what to do. Five stars goes to the NVR as well as the staff!

This NVR is high quality, excellent performing unit. We actually use 8 cameras recording in real-time (30 frames per second) at a resolution of 720p. The video recordings are simply incredible when it comes to clarity, detail, and color. It integrates well with our network and the network power switch saved us some extra work by providing Power Over the Ethernet (POE).We even use the BNC connector two way intercom feature. I think probably the single most feature that stands out with this unit (as compared to the Elite Mini unit) is the capacity to have much more on board internal hard drive storage. If keeping y our video recording files for a while is important to you then you will want to take advantage of this NVR's ability to hold several internal hard drives. The NVR has an On Screen Display (OSD) menu system that is used to set up the NVR and adjust its features. The OSD takes a little getting used to but for the most part it is pretty intuitive and you can become fairly proficient with using it after about 1/2 hour of use.

We purchased the Security Camera King 16 channel Elite Series Standalone IP security camera NVR several months ago to use at our company's central office location and while I was pursuing the New Year sales today I thought I would complete writing a review while I was at it. First and foremost, the NVR records great high quality ultra resolution video from four of our 3 megapixel cameras set to 2 megapixel (1080p) resolution. The 2U case is big enough to support the installation of a DVD burner but for us it is unnecessary as we just copy the files we need to a thumb drive or the network. Instead, we have eliminated the DVD burner to make more room for internal hard disk storage drives which are much more important for our use. The NVR comes with all the necessary components to install it with the exception of a monitor cable if you choose to use one. We don't use a monitor because it is much easier for use to monitor the cameras and adjust any settings to the NVR via the network using one of our personal computers. However, the unit does include a USB mouse and an infrared remote control that can be used to operate the on screen display GUI (you can use the front panel buttons as well). The NVR has a lot of great features, too numerous to mention all of them here. There are a few that are very useful and interesting to use. One is the IP search feature that searches the network to find your cameras for set up. Another is the various settings available for the cameras from motion detection to frame rate and resolution variations to help save on storage space (1080p resolution can take up a lot of storage capacity). The best thing about this full size unit is the ability to "stuff" it with internal hard disk drives for storage and then use a NAS-4 for eSATA external storage. My personal opinion is that you won't be disappointed with this NVR; it's a keeper.

This NVR is hot! It blows away any kind of recording you can get from a TVL resolution camera system. I'd put an IP megapixel camera up against one of those any day and the NVR is more convenient than a DVR. With an NVR all you really need to do is plug in the Ethernet cable and the sound jacks if you are recording audio. There are not a lot of messy video cables because each of the cameras either plug into the Internet or into your network using an Ethernet RJ45 jack and CAT5 cable. The recordings are smooth, crisp, clear, and color correct. This full size model is also rack mountable and you can opt to have a DVD burner installed. I recommend you forego the DVD burner and save the room for additional internal hard disk drives because the high resolution recording can really take up some space. This unit can hold up to a total of 24 Terabytes of video internally and can be connected to an NAS-4 external SATA (eSATA) device which could add an additional 12 more terabytes of storage. There's an on screen display menu system that is relatively easy to navigate and especially helpful is the IP search feature that automatically discovers your network cameras for you. This type of security camera recording is definitely the wave of the future as it should be because the quality and performance is simply unsurpassed!
