Our HYBDVR-FE016480 is a hybrid version of our 16 Channel Federal Series DVR. This DVR has all the same capabilities including the highest analog recording resolution of 960H (960x480) in realtime on all channels. This resolution takes advantage of todays highest reoslution Effio cameras that display video in the 16:9 format instead of the typical 4:3 format displayed by lower resolution cameras. The extra feature of this DVR is that you can also connect up to 16 additional Megapixel IP network cameras. So this DVR can actually connect to, display and record a total of 32 cameras! 16 analog cameras at 960H resolution in realtime and 16 IP cameras in realtime as well. Often in an installation, especially larger ones, you will have areas that do not need the increased resolution and expense of megapixel cameras. For those areas you can use standard 700tvl CCTV cameras which are a lot less expensive. Also, these cameras will not use any of your valuable bandwidth and the power and video can be run much longer distances than for IP cameras. Then for the areas that do need the additional resolution like parking lots, warehouses, retail stores, facial capture or license plate capture you can use the higher resolution and more expensive Megapixel IP cameras. And all of this can be done on a single unit.
If you are already familiar with our DVRs and NVRs then you already know how to use this one. All our DVRs, NVRs, and IP cameras share the same protocols and can be used with our video management system, all of our smart phone applications and any other software we currently offer. There are way to many great features to list them all, but here are some of the more important ones:

This unit is insane! (In a good way). You get unbelievable recording quality with the highest possible resolution attainable for analog and digital systems. The 960H resolution is best when used with cameras that have sensors of the 960H variety (16:9 size ration format) but it will certainly work well with just about any camera. I don't think you can squeeze any higher resolution than this produces from either analog or digital cameras, at least at the present time and technology level. This hybrid is working very well for us and since we only have a small number of network cameras (for now) it allows us to use our existing analogs with our newly installed network cameras. I'll give it five stars without hesitation.
WOW! This is the best of the best! Amazing and incredible video recording and display quality whether you are looking at the 960H format resolution recording or the IP network megapixel recordings. The megapixel cameras definitely have the 960H format beat when it comes to dine details and resolution, but on the other hand the 960H format presents a truer picture. Either way you can't lose. We found this hybrid to be of excellent quality and perform very well. The videos for either format are sharp and color true. Get the optional DVD burner since it is only $37.95 INSTALLED, unless you need the extra room for additional internal hard drive storage (there is still room for extra hard drives even with the DVD burner installed).
This is a really great machine that mixes the largest analog video camera resolution with today's newer megapixel cameras and does a fine job of it. If you already have an existing 960H analog system but want to consider going toward a full IP megapixel system in the future, I think it is worth the investment to purchase this hybrid. It will allow you to maintain your current 960H analog cameras and allow you to add up to 4 full 2 megapixel or 1080p cameras at a 30 frame per second rate. (Actually you can add a total of 16 IP megapixel cameras but you will have to drop the resolution to accommodate more IP cameras then just 4). In addition to the fantastic camera handling and video recording capabilities, this unit is packed with a variety of useful features. I have 16 700 TVL cameras, 4 2 Megapixel 1080p IP cameras, and I record audio on four channels on my hybrid. In addition I have my alarm triggers hooked up to the unit and I have a total of 3 display monitors, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA, and 1 BNC spot monitor. All of this activity and I haven't had one single dropped frame, lost video, unit lock-up or crash, or a need to reboot. I call that good performance. As long as it continues for a few years, I call that good quality. There's plenty of room for potential internal and external storage options including eSATA external hard drives. You can even have a DVD burner installed by Security Camera King for only $37.95 more. Now there is one thing you may need with this system, even if you are used to owning and operating previous analog CCTV systems and that is help. Some dealers offer fairly decent technical support others none at all. But Security Camera King has got them all beat in my book. Their technical support staff is knowledgeable, understandable, and very polite. In fact, in my case I finally gave up and asked them for help. Not only did they help, but they were able to remotely take over the controls and get me going. I definitely will use them again.
I was in the market for a security camera system for my office. However, I wasn't really sure what we would need or what we should consider. I saw one of these units being demonstrated and a trade show and was awe struck. I couldn't believe the quality and the size of the video displays and the fact that the analog 960H resolution looked almost as good as the megapixel cameras' resolution for a lot less expensive camera. After returning back to the office I met with our IT manager and my boss and I suggested we go with Security Camera King's 16 Channel Hybrid Federal. We placed the order and got the unit along with the cameras, cables, connectors, and everything else we ordered in about 3 days after placing the order on line. I had some questions that I couldn't find the answer to in the manual or online so I called Security Camera King's technical support department and the answered the questions for me in simple terms and completely. They even offered to remotely set the system up if I had any problems. Needless to say, we have been using our system and have been extremely satisfied. The dual Gigabit ports help split the workload on the network and we have a lot of remote users so the remote access system really gets a work out. I can say without a doubt that I would recommend additional Security Camera King products should we decide to expand our system and I would recommend this unit to anyone considering a purchase.
Review by Dahlgren, William (West Viriginia USA) on Mar 15, 2013
I recently installed this for a government agency that was looking for a 960H DVR system with a 4 camera 1080p camera system. This new product from Security Camera King came out just in time. I haven't really seen any of these from anyone else. The hybrid DVR/NVR is easy to operate like many of the other Security Camera King recorders using the On Screen Display (OSD) or Graphical User Interface (GUI), whichever you prefer to call it. It works great for providing the cheaper analog 700 TVL cameras recording while also providing for the IP megapixel cameras which are more expensive but highly detailed in resolution. One of the nice features of this hybrid is that it has two Gigabit ports in the back panel. Two RJ45 Ethernet connections that allow you to help split the work load on bandwidth and the network and maintain data flow smoothly. You can also set them up similar to a RAID disk configuration where one port can be used to back up the other in case of a failure. The recordings from this unit are clear, crisp, and colorful. I have been back to check on the installation and have had no reports of dropped frames, video loss, crashes or anything of that nature. The customer is extremely please with the performance of the unit and says it "suits them perfectly." Personally, I think this is a great idea of combining the two types of systems and definitely has a future stronghold in the market. Of course, as do most of the Security Camera King recorders I install, the customer is totally amazed by the remote access features using anything from a smartphone to a tablet to a personal computer.
