TP-OD-HDIR100L2812-B
Review by Terry Ferko on Sep 22, 2014
From the outside, this camera looks like a typical 700TVL vandal dome or any other type of vandal dome. However, it's important to remember that this is an HD-SDI vandal dome and can only be used with HD-SDI DVRs. That's important if you are new to security camera systems because you may wrongly assume it can be used on a typical analog DVR because of its looks. I like the look and performance of this camera as it fits our needs perfectly. The camera has a 2.8 - 12mm varifocal lens and we do use a little bit of zoom to help better frame the shot (we can't get any closer with the camera so that helps us out a lot). It also has a nice 100 foot infrared range so the IR range kind of supports the zoom capability or vice versa (i.e. there is enough IR illumination to see an object 70 feet from the camera for example). The camera also has an On Screen Display. Mounting is standard like any other vandal dome and so is hookup; easy. The video quality is great with plenty of detail, high color reproduction, and a sharp, clear video picture. I like my camera and have had no problems with it.

This is a beefed up model of an average HD-SDI vandal dome and it's certainly worth the price in performance. I'm very happy with the way the camera works on my system. First off it's a 1080p resolution video capture camera with a 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens. You can go wide (realistically down to about 3.4 or so) or you can zoom in and "tighten" things up a bit at a focal length of 12mm. This is one of those vandal dome cameras that allows you to adjust the varifocal lens without the need for tearing the camera apart while still maintaining the vandal dome aspect. The zoom and focus controls are located on each side of the camera case and are recessed in little holes (to help make them difficult to tamper with) that can be access ed with a little tool. The camera also is loaded darkness. Finally the camera comes with a fully functional OSD that is loaded with many useful features. On that note, I had a couple of questions about the OSD and the features that I couldn't find the answers to in the owner's manual. So I called Security Camera King's technical support department. They were very helpful, in fact they were very cordial and didn't want me to leave until I felt fully satisfied that my questions and issues were resolved. That's a good group of people there, and I have never experienced technical support like that before in my life. That alone makes the purchase well worth the money.

We ordered for of these for our office's new HD-SDI video security system and they work great. The camera is a nice "package" because not only does it produce a very clear, detailed video image but the camera comes with a lot of "enhancements" that make it easier for getting the exact view that you want. The On Screen Display (OSD) is easy to use and has some useful features including the wide dynamic range feature. We were able to mount two of our cameras further away than what we cared to for a couple shots but we had no choice (there was nothing to mount them to.) The varifocal lens gave us just enough zoom capability to do this without narrowing the view excessively. Also, the 100 foot infrared range works well too. Lastly, I've seen this on a lot of reviews but it is the truth. You can't the technical support or the customer service you get from Security Camera King, regardless of what anyone may type here they have been golden to us.

Excellent vandal dome for a HD-SDI system. Good picture, good IR range, and good varifocal lens. The OSD comes with some decent features too.

My company bought 8 of these cameras to go along with our new Security Camera King 8 channel HD-SDI DVR and they are great! Anyone can install them, as they are simple to mount and set up. The varifocal lens is very useful and can be adjusted without taking the camera apart. The adjustment screws are located on the front of the camera casing, and in keeping with the vandal resistant theme, they are recessed to help keep them tamper proof. The infrared red range is about 100 feet more than far enough for our purposes and the infrared mode video is just as clear and detailed as the regular color mode even though it is black and white. I've seen where these camera are particularly useful because they can be used to upgrade older systems, but ours was new from the start. I like the HD-SDI system because I know nothing about networks and yet we get a network quality system without the need for messing with CAT5 cable, switches and all that other stuff. You can still connect the DVR to a network or the Internet with just a network cable and get about the same benefits of a network system. The On Screen Display (OSD) on these cameras has many useful features, especially including wide dynamic range. Security Camera King also has a very good technical support team that is really genuine about wanting to help you with any issues you have. I would definitely recommend these cameras to others looking for a good HD-SDI vandal resistant dome.

Excellent vandal resistant HD-SDI camera! This camera mounts easily and solid and leaves the screws out of view to help prevent malicious intervention. The image sensor is actually a little more than 2 pixels; it is actually 2.1 megapixels (1/3 inch CMOS). For $20 more that a camera of the similar type (like the Security Camera King TP-OD-HDIR100-B), this camera comes with a varifocal lens. The lens is a standard varifocal lens with a working focal length of 2.8 to 12mm. Between the varifocal lens and the 1080p resolution I don't know how you could miss getting the perfect video capture. The camera also has it's own OSD which comes with what I thought was a surprising amount of picture enhancing features including wide dynamic range, defog, 3D-DNR and Sens-Up to name a few. The focus and zoom mini screw adjustments are located on the camera case horizontally from each other and our recessed, again to prevent malicious tampering. I'm getting a good range of 100 feet of infrared in total darkness. I like the camera and would recommend it, in fact I purchased 4.
