20X 2 Megapixel Infrared IP Network PTZ Security Camera
Review by Rowsey, Andrew (Maryland USA) on Mar 23, 2014
Excellent PTZ camera. Not only to do get fantastic resolution at 1080p but the camera won't miss a thing at night with those infrared LEDs either. The camera is not small, it's pretty good size but yet the movement speed is quick and stable. It comes with a lot of extra features and options as well and if you have any problems during installation, configuration, or operation, Security Camera King has a very good support section that will walk you through what you need to do. Definitely a 5 star camera.

Several of my clients are car dealers. In my area, it seems as though these dealerships are getting a lot less in number but incredibly large in size in terms of on-th-lot new cars. That's been good for me because as a result, I've had several orders for clients wanting PTZ cameras to cover the lots. One such customer has an IP network system and decided to purchase this camera. The camera is pretty easy to install and set up and it has a lot of different options and enhancements. Once it is installed and set up, it is very easy for the client to operate. The video captured by this camera is extremely good at 1080p resolution and the color correctness is very good as well. The infrared range is good and although to be honest, this client really doesn't need it if they continue to keep their lot lit at night. If you decide that you need protection without the integration of an NVR you can even set this PTZ up to record to a micro SD card inserted in the slot available on board. Good product!

This is a high quality camera with a lot of features and function, too numerous to really mention in a short review. The cost is a little on the high side but when you consider that this is really a mini NVR and 2 Megapixel camera in one and it's a PTZ with a 20X zoom, and has a 250 foot IR range with two sets of IR LEDs for covering near and far objects, the price is certainly justifiable. The manual is a little "cagey" for a camera of this value but the Security Camera King support department filled in the gaps.

This is a camera that is certainly well worth its price. It captures video at 1080p at 30 frames per second with such fine detail and high quality that I have to say it really isn't like anything I've seen before. I'm more than satisfied, I'm actually amazed. Yes, this camera obviously isn't the cheapest PTZ camera in the world but Security Camera King has designed this with so many additional features that if this camera can't do the job for you, I doubt any could.

First of all the camera is huge, it weighs in at about 14 or 15 lbs. so you know their something more than just air inside that case. As far as outdoor use is concerned it is rated IP66 and comes with 4000V of lightning, surge, thunder, and waver protection. It is a true IP network 2 megapixel camera that works under many different protocols including TCP/IP and HTTP just to name a couple. It can handle up to so simultaneous remote network users and is basically a high quality PTZ camera and mini NVR in one. In fact, this PTZ camera even has a mini SD slot for recording locally if you want.

Even though this camera is large, I've found that its PTZ movements are quick enough to consider it a "speed dome." The feature that makes this camera really special to me is the zoom power and the infrared LED functioning. The camera has a very powerful 20X power optical zoom (plus additional digital zoom) so it can really "pull in" images from quite a distance away. However, most PTZ's with infrared LED's don't have very powerful LEDs so that the range of the camera far out reaches the range of the LEDs. Not in this case though. In fact, this camera has two sets of LEDs. It has one extremely powerful set that has a range of over 250 feet and a different set for closer shots that are actually weaker to prevent over illumination "washout" on closer objects.

This is a top notch high rated camera that I have no problem giving five stars to. In addition security Camera King's technical support department was a great help for me in getting this camera setup just exactly the way I need it.

My company has been using Security Camera King since about 2009 and we have never had any issues with their products, including this one. Like most IP network cameras these days, this unit is packed with all kinds of useful electronic features, but I must say I think this one is flush. The concept of the dual infrared LED illuminators works well and we get a very good range with clear shots both close and far under infrared. During normal mode conditions the video recordings are simply amazing. I am very impressed with the detail and clarity and how everything looks "more to life" than our cold cameras' recordings. The camera moves are quick and stable and remote operation is impressive as well (it even includes remote voice intercom).Although we don't use the option, the camera comes with an on-board micro SD slot for using a micro SD card to record to. It also comes with alarm inputs and outputs. In short, this basically and camera and recorder all in one unit and the camera has the versatility to move and zoom. What more could you ask for?

Excellent camera! The camera weighs about 14 or 15 pounds so make sure you mount it securely. The camera has a high quality zoom lens with an optical zoom power of 20X while the digital zoom can add another 16X to that. The specialty of this camera lies in the night time mode for shooting video. The camera has a wicked set of infrared LED illuminators, two sets actually, that have a maximum distance of somewhere around 250 feet that allow you to get some good zooming distance in total darkness. Many cameras with that kind of power in their LEDs would do poorly for closer objects because the infrared radiation would be so intense that the video would basically be washed out in infrared light. However, this camera has another set of LEDs that are not as intense and are designed for illuminating closer objects to help maintain the integrity of the night time video, regardless of the distance to the object. Combine all this for a 2megapixel video picture and you can get some pretty fine detail and one heck of a good quality shot, day or night. As big as the camera is it is surprisingly fast with the PTZ movements as well, both in response and execution. It's got all the features you would expect from an IP camera in this price category and even more including audio, up to 20 simultaneous users and many others. It certainly isn't a low cost camera, but in this case you do get what you pay for. I'd recommend it.

This camera sort of looks like a robot hovering in the sky. It's a pretty large size and definitely elicits a feeling of "presence." It has a nice powerful 20X zoom optical lens and with the 1080p resolution, there is very little detail that you can't capture with it. It comes with all the goodies of most upper end IP network cameras including the capability of recording locally to a Micro SD card, simultaneous remote network users and such. Physically speaking, it has 14 infrared LEDs that are ginormous in size and output! When these guys are cranked up you can get up to a 250 foot range at night with the camera. We actually get even more than that, because we have other infrared cameras on our property that use infrared illuminating LEDs and are mounted beyond that 250 foot range and the PTZ can even pick up objects easily of the other cameras' infrared light. With LEDs that powerful you would think close up objects that are on the monitor screen would be all bright green in infrared because of the strong infrared radiation. However, that's where this camera excels because it has two different sets of infrared LEDs that are used; one for close shots and one for the long range shot. Another nice feature of this PTZ is the mouse control. You can move and control the PTZ with a mouse instead of a bulky joystick controller. All you have to do is point and click and the camera goes to where ever you tell it. Click and drag and it will zoom where you have drawn a rectangle. If you are used to using a joystick, it may take a little bit to get used to, but it won't take long. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this camera.

We were recently lucky enough to get the funding approved for a new security camera surveillance system (believe it or not our old system was so old it used video tape recorders). I was shocked when I saw that they were installing this camera because I knew it had to have a heavy price tag. I asked the installer about it and he told me that they had purchased it from Security Camera King. At first glance, this seems like a tremendous amount of money to spend on a camera, but I have to say that I think this one was worth every penny. Whoever the contractor was that installed knew what they were doing because this camera has replaced 8 (that's right--8) of our old cameras and has an incredibly higher quality display for the recording and even for the monitor. Using this camera we now can cover the yard, the mess hall exterior, walking area, resident buildings, administrative office, and visitor's center. I mean there is nothing inside the compound that isn't covered. Although I wasn't the one that had any part of the decision making process in purchasing this camera, I would definitely purchase it if I did and I would recommend it to others.

This camera goes to the top of the list of PTZ cameras. It's got everything you need and everything you always wanted in a PTZ camera. I mean, these newer IP megapixel cameras are amazing alone but when you put these components into a PTZ body, you've gone one heck of a powerful camera. There isn't much this camera will miss either. It can record at 2 megapixels (1080p) at 30 frames per second and when you combine that with its 20X optical zoom, you can see all sorts of things; license plates, faces, and a lot of other objects you never expected to see with a PTZ camera before. (In addition to the 20X optical zoom it also has a 16X digital zoom which can be effective also). It's not real light sensitive at 1.8 LUX in color and 0.02 LUX in black and white, but that's okay because it brings its own spotlights, two sets actually. The camera has a nice long night time range of about 250 feet, give or take a few. That's because it's got these really powerful LED illuminators built in to the camera. However, it also has another set that isn't so powerful so when it lights up something close the picture isn't washed out. (It's the same sort of effect a "deer in the headlights" sees only from the deer's perspective, all it can see are these blinding headlights. However with a lower powered set of LEDs you now get the effect of the driver of the car, a well lit object within the range of the camera.) In addition to all of the PTZ features you also get the benefits of an IP megapixel camera. You can record through the network using a Hybrid DVR/NVR, or an NVR or you can even use a Micro SD card (32 gigs max) and record to it. And you can monitor it when you are away with an Internet ready smartphone. About the only thing I can think of that might be considered is its appearance. It's huge and kind of looks like an alien eye looking at you, although some would think the more intimidating the look, the better the deterrent factor.

This camera is a little massive in size but to be honest that's about the only thing that I can find fault with. To start off with it has a 20X optical zoom lens that works really well on its own (without the need for digital assistance), but it also has a 16X digital zoom on top of that. The digital zoom isn't anything that special because the way it works is just by enlarging the pixels, basically. Just the same, the 20X zoom is great! Combine the zoom with the 2 megapixel (1080p) resolution and that equals one great picture. The camera is loaded with all sorts of input possibilities too such as audio input and output and even a BNC connector for use on analog systems. It's even got room on board for a Micro SD
chip (maximum of 32 gigs). However, the best part of the camera is the infrared operations. This camera actually contains two different sets of infrared LED illuminators. One set is designed for objects far away and the other set for those objects that are up closer. If they stronger (far distance) LEDs were the only ones used they would be too bright for close up objects and likely wash out the video. Likewise, if the weaker (close up) LEDs were the only ones used they would be too dim and not be able to give the camera the range that the stronger LEDs can, which by the way, is about 250 feet!
