Many installations require mounting the DVR in locations that are not protected from the weather. Excellent unit. It is strong and will keep your recorder safe and dry. Gasket is definitely water tight.

We recently did an install on a government contract that required this size NEMA 4 rated enclosure in the specs. It's not cheap, but it does the trick! One word of advice though, the enclosure is only as good as the way you mount it.

This is a great security box for holding your DVD outdoors. We normally place security camera systems (usually 16 channel) on our large building construction sites and until there is a safer place to store the DVR we usually mount this on a pole at the site. We try to get an Internet feed to it so we can easily monitor things at night if we want using the DVR's remote access feature. While the box could be damaged by hammers or other steel tools, the design is pretty rugged and has served our purpose. The lock is solid enough to deter someone wanting to fiddle with the contents.
