4 Camera Elite Series NVR Megapixel Security Camera System
Review by Kip Jaargen on May 28, 2013
This is a very nice network based security camera system and I suppose to be correct I should be writing this review under the "Custom Built Security Camera System" page. However, we actually started with this system in mind and liked everything about it. The only thing we changed was that we upgraded our 1.3 megapixel cameras to 2 megapixel or 1080p resolution cameras. I can't say enough, how impressed I am. First, the installation isn't really difficult, so to install one of these network systems you don't have to be some sort of computer or network technician. Besides, we encountered a couple of stumbling blocks along the way and Security Camera King's support department helped up overcome them fast and effortlessly. The NVR is amazing. It has a capacity to coordinate the recording from 16 different cameras at once but that is at a much reduced resolution than 2 megapixels. It maxes out with 4 cameras at 1080p at 30 frames per second. The best word I can think of to describe the quality of the recordings and displays is "rich." The details are incredible, the color is a very good match, and we have not encountered any hesitation in the fluidity of the recording, no dropped frames, no interference, and haven't even bogged down the network or been kicked from the Internet. The whole system works smoothly and well. This full size NVR has plenty of room for extra storage should you need to purchase additional hard disk drives and it also has room for a DVD burner. We chose to do both; we purchase extra storage space and the DVD burner. I hope we never really have to use this system at all, but if we do the local police should be really impressed with what we'll have to offer. Excellent piece of electronics.

There are so many likeable features in this system, that I'm not sure where to begin. First let me add that you don't have to have some fancy business type network to use an NVR system, a simple broadband connection to the Internet and a router will usually suffice, even if you are using the included power switch. The cameras have a standard look and design to them that makes them look like ordinary analog security cameras but of course they aren't. The resolution of the included cameras (you can always upgrade if you want by going to the Custom Built system page at the beginning of Security Camera King's "Systems" listings and changing items) are 1.3 megapixel IP Indoor/Outdoor IR Dome Network Security Cameras. For whatever reason, the 1.3 megapixel cameras especially, have a notorious characteristic of not recording in real time at their advertised resolution but usually at half the frame rate which means 15 frames per second. These cameras will record at 30 frames per second at a maximum resolution of 720p which works great for us because at this resolution we can actually use a total of 8 cameras instead of four and for our purposes, the 720p resolution is detailed enough for now. When the technology decreases prices like it usually does, we can also increase our resources later. The cameras work well with a whole set of their own features including good low light sensitivity (0.1 LUX in color and 0.005 LUX black and white) and of course infrared mode capability with on-board IR LEDs that give the camera a range in total darkness of about 60 feet. The cameras mount easily and all you have to do once they are mounted is aim them correctly and set them up for use on the network. The Network Video Recorder does an excellent job of cooridnating signals and recordings from the cameras over the network. It comes as a huge 2U case so there is plenty of room inside for extra internal hard disk drives and if you do continuous recording at high resolution you might very well need it. You can pack up to 24 TB of hard disk storage inside. We don't require that much storage so we ordered the amount we needed and also had Security Camera King install the DVD burner. The NVR plays back while it is recording and taking on network users so it packs a lot of processing power. The videos are extremely clear and detailed, and I have noticed no dropped frames nor have we had any problems with crashes or needing to reboot. If you are looking to obtain an IP megapixel system this is a great starter kit and I don't think you will be disappointed.

This isn't a bad NVR system. It comes with just about everything you need to install it except the clips to secure the cable to the wall or ceiling if needed. I have no issues with the quality either, the recordings are amazing, high resolution videos. I could see where using a lot of these cameras could definitely consume some bandwidth though, but that wasn't an issue here either. My only concern is that whether the more expensive price over the 4 Camera Elite Mini NVR system is really worth it since you have to pay extra for the DVD burner (although it's less than $40) and the larger case. Basically, I think what your getting with this system is the Mini system with the opportunity for more internal hard drive storage so if that is important, then I guess it would be worth it.

We recently had the Security Camera King 4 Camera Elite Series Never Megapixel Security Camera System installed and I am writing to tell you how impressed we are with this entire system. I am not a security camera systems professional but frankly I couldn't believe the detail and high quality of the recordings by this combination of cameras and NVR. We've mounted the system in our server rack without any difficulties and we are able to provide the remote accessing through the network as needed without any problems either. The unit's size definitely comes into play here because we were able to have the DVD burner installed and still maintain enough internal space in the 2U case for several Terabytes of storage space. We do record each camera 2 megapixels resolution so we have a tendency to use a lot of storage but the trade off in the quality of vide is definitely worth it! Thanks to your team at Security Camera King, they were a big help both in sales and support and I will be sure to pass your name on to others that may be interested in your products.

I am a technician/specialist in our corporations IT department and recently our bosses decided it was time to install a security camera system. Their decision obviously, was to purchase Security Camera King's 4 Camera Elite Series NVR Megapixel Security Camera System. In addition to the regular package offering we upgraded our DVR to 4 TBs of internal hard drive storage and the DVD burner. It is difficult to write a short review of such a technical device because a simple "works great" may not work well for others, but I will try to be as comprehensive as possible while trying to maintain as short a review as possible. Unlike many of the megapixel cameras I have seen, this camera records in the actual number of megapixels stated at 30 frames per second. Therefore each camera can record 2 megapixel resolution recordings at 30 frames per second (there are also options to record at 720p and D1). If you have a network or even just a multiport router connected to the Internet, you only need to plug one Ethernet cable from it to the NVR and one Ethernet cable from the power switch. All four cameras can then be plugged into the power switch to receive both the network data link and the power over the same Cat5 cable. You can then use Security Camera King's PSS (video management software) to control the system with your personal computer or if you want to have access to the systems and camera on the go, you can download their free iPhone, iPad, Android Blackberry, or Windows Mobile apps and use them with the corresponding device. One nice thing about the NVR and the switch is that they can actually handle more than 4 cameras. The switch has a maximum of 8 ports so you can actually use this for 8 different cameras. If you do so, the resolution of the cameras must be reduced to 720p, and although the switch is limited to a total of 8, the NVR can handle up to 16 cameras at a D1 resolution. At this time we are very satisfied with the way our system is performing. It creates clear, detailed color video recordings and monitoring from a remote device is fairly easy. One last thing, Security Camera King has a wonderful support department. If you have any questions or any problems they are more than eager to help you so if that is the case, contact them.

I really do like this system a lot and it performs very well. I had no problems installing it or the cameras and set up wasn't really difficult either. The cameras provide an excellent color high resolution video recording and the NVR has many useful features. The only reason why I haven't rated this system at five stars instead of four is because of two things, both price related. As far as IP network cameras are concerned this and the "Mini" NVR do just about the same thing. Yet this is almost $400 more. Also, I think the DVD burner should come standard with the system, if you want it. The real advantage of this unit is that it has much more room than the mini and therefore can hold a lot more internal hard disk drives for storage, but I'm not sure it was worth paying the $400 more for the opportunity. Once again, I like the system and it works well.

Our company deals with a lot of personal, sensitive data. We take the highest possible measures to prevent hacking or computer attacks to our servers for this purpose. On a recent audit, it was brought to our attention that while our network data protection services are adequate, we actually have no physical protection to our framework or servers room. Enter the Security Camera King 4 Camera Elite Series NVR Megapixel Security Camera System. Now I'm not sure how the ISO auditors will take to a network based security camera system providing protections and security to the same network, but I know that we at the company are very, very satisfied. First, since we already have an existing network all we really had to do was mount the cameras, plug the cables into them, the switch, the NVR and our network at that was it. Installation completed. Set up wasn't very difficult either, since IT is our specialty we had no problems getting the cameras on line with the NVR and the network. We purchased the NVR without a DVD burner so we could have more physical room inside the unit for internal hard drive storage. When all of these drives are full, we'll execute a file dump to our large capacity servers and maintain the footage for an indefinite amount of time. The quality and performance of this system is simply amazing and for the quality and performance it produces it is incredibly easy to install.
The Full Size Elite Series NVR Megapixel Security Camera System Compared to the Mini

Review by Pat Braley. CCTV and IT Technician on Dec 14, 2012
I'm an independent CCTV installer and have many computer/network certifications and perform a lot of contract IT jobs as well. I absolutely love Security Camera King's IP Megapixel cameras and NVR systems and hope that someday they be cheap enough so that everyone can afford one and there will be no more TVL systems left! I've installed several of the Elite Mini BVR systems and the Elite (full size) NVR systems and thought I would provide a review of a general comparison between the two. I'll try to keep it simple without a lot of technical mumbo jumbo.
Both systems offer the same cameras, cables, and POE (Power Over The Ethernet) switches. These are all the same, 4 cameras, 4 Ethernet cables, and 8 port switch that can provide power up to 8 cameras over the Ethernet CAT5 cable. Both NVRs support dual H.264/MPEG-4 CODECs. This means that with dual streaming, you can record in a high quality stream to the NVR while you can watch or monitor the cameras in a lower quality, less bit rate stream. This prevents bogging down your network with really unnecessary bandwidth rates. Both NVRS can record 4 cameras in 1080p at 30 frames per second, 8 cameras at 720p, or 16 cameras at D1. Both support alarm inputs/outputs.
The difference between the systems is the (obviously) the price. The full size Elite NVR is about $450 more than the Mini Elite. Another obvious different between the two is the size. Both are rack mountable but the Full Size is about twice the height of the min. This allows for the installation of a DVD burner for making backups or copying footage directly at the NVR and for additional internal hard disk drives. The Mini can hold up to 2 hard disk drives internally, the Full Size Elite can hold up to 8 hard disk drives internally, depending on whether you order the DVD burner or not. This means the total storage capacity of the Mini is about 6 terabytes while the storage capacity of the Full Size Elite is about 24 Terabytes. In addition the Elite Full Size supports External Drives, eSATA drives that have the potential of adding an additional 12 terabytes more storage. This can be very important if you want to constantly record and save your recordings for a while as the megapixel cameras take up the greatest amount of storage space of all the security cameras. The Elite also supports two-way audio. Finally the Full Size Elite NVR supports more alarm inputs/outputs than the Mini. I hope this helps!

What a high performance, super quality security camera system. We use this system solely in our money room because of the extreme fine detail that we get from the high resolution megapixel cameras. I hope that as time passes and our older cameras and system wear out we'll be able to replace them with addition megapixel systems. The technicians tell me that the system was very easy to install and they didn't have any problems with the set up of the NVR and putting everything on our network system. We currently run the NVR at the 4 IP camera setting of 1080p each and the 2 megapixel resolution does a fine job. When we made our purchase of this system we maxed everything out, that is we included the purchase of the DVD burner and the 8 TB hard drive including some extra internal hard rives to give us maximum storage capacity. Even thought the NVR works with dual CODECs (it records using one and streams using another) the streaming is still a good quality view. The dual processor really makes the unit work quick and smooth. This system is really worth the price and I would recommend it to other potential customers.

We've been considering replacing our old (really old--like black and white old) video security camera system with something that is high fidelity, high tech, and advanced so we'll kind of be ahead of the game for a while. We've consulted a lot of different sources, including your support department. I must say they were more than helpful and honest in helping us to decide what type of system we should get. We need surveillance cameras that can deliver the highest resolution and finest details possible. We already have our own network system so the Security Camera King 4 Camera Elite Series NVR IP Megapixel System seemed like the perfect fit for us. We had no problems installing it and your support department helped us get it set up properly. The NVR is truly a workhorse and does an excellent job of recording our cameras in 1080p resolution. Plus, we purchased plenty of storage space in the terms of the hard disk drive as well as additional internal hard drives. You are absolutely right when you say that "There is no comparison between our Megapixel IP Security Camera Systems and our standard CCTV DVR based systems." As far as I'm concerned we've gone from the equivalent of black and white TV in the '50s to the high definition color systems of today. Five stars, absolutely.
