Great!

Considering the fact that the Security Camera King full-size HD-SDI 4 Channel model is more than twice the price of this Mini, and if you don't need the extra features (like more audio channel recording, an Internal DVD burner, and additional internal Hard disk drives for storage), this recorder is a steal! We needed to upgrade our old 4 channel system and we knew there were two things that were most important to us: High definition quality recording while maintaining the lowest cost possible. That's exactly what this DVR is all about for us. First of all, the 1080p resolution High Definition video image is amazing, and it's recorded at real time (30 frames per second). There is absolutely no comparison to our old video security system. Second, not only is the price of this DVR half that of the full size model, but we "upgraded" our old system without ever needing to run any new or additional cable. Our old coax cable works just fine. I'd recommend this DVR.

4 Channel HD-SDI DVR Mini
Review by Parmenter, Kevin (Georgia USA) on Feb 24, 2014
My wife and I recently purchased a new home. The house had been fitted previously with a 4 camera video security system outside. Upon closer inspection of the system, I realized how old and run down it was and decided that along with the purchase of the house I would also purchase a new video security system. However, I wanted resolution much better than the hold system could offer and being a computer geek by hobby, I am somewhat familiar with the new IP network megapixel systems. After checking some of them out, that's what I decided I wanted -- something very clear and high in resolution. Then a friend of mine told me about the HD-SDI technology and said you could get the same megapixel quality video without the need for running new CAT5 or other cables. So, I checked out all of the local home improvement stores and electronic stores. I was just about ready to call a local CCTV company when I did a search on the Internet and Security Camera King popped up. I checked out the HD-SDI technology and products and decided to think it over (after all, the price on these systems is higher than typical analog systems). Eventually I settled on this DVR and I am glad I did. Not only did I purchase the DVR but I also bought new HD-SDI cameras from Security Camera King. Like their description says, what I didn't have to buy was new cable. I changed this out in no time and I love it! The DVR works great and I get 1080p (2 Megapixel) resolution recordings at full time rates on all four cameras at the same time. The DVR has a ton of extra features too. If your thinking about getting one of these, I say go for it!

4 Channel HD-SDI DVR Mini -- Extreme Definition Without The Network Hassles!

I purchased this DVR from Security Camera King to use for the first time in my shop. I wasn't upgrading anything or replacing anything, I had to run the RG59 cable fresh (which was no problem). I placed my order on line for the DVR and I think I received it in just 3 days. No problem with shipping, everything was packed well and the DVR was in pristine shape. The DVR is easy to install (basically, you just plug in the cords and cables) and turn it on. The On Screen Display is pretty easy to use the only thing that may take some time is learning where everything is at on the menu pages so the navigation will require a little experience. The manual is not that great explaining things sometimes, but the Security Camera King support staff has answered all of my questions completely, and they don't make me feel like I am bothering them, so I can ask them anything I want about the DVR and its function. The 10880p video resolution from each camera is simply incredible and once you have actually scene how sharp and clear the picture is you probably will be hooked for life. I've never had a TVL based system, but now I don't even want to consider one and the best part is there are no network hassles. All you have to do to get remote access to the DVR and cameras is plug the unit into your Internet connection.

There is a lot to this "Mini" DVR. It's like owning an IP network megapixel NVR or system without the network hassles. 1080p resolution on every channel at 30 frames per second is amazing! You know those security videos you see on television News programs and other shows--they are ususally choppy and you have a hard time identifying the individual(s) in the video? Not with this you won't! The video recording made by this DVR are just about the same as any theater movie in clarity and color and the DVR has a lot of extra programmable features that are very useful. I was surprised at how easy the On Screen Display was to use and it really didn't take me much of a learning curve to get used to it. The only negative about this DVR is that it can only hold 2 internal hard drives. Of course, with only four cameras, that's still pretty good, but I would suggest that whatever amount of storage space you THINK you will need, be safe and purchase more if there is a larger size available.

My son gets me to buy this replacement for my small jewelry store. I've been in the business for over 50 years and have had a few attempts at shoplifting and even robbery so I've always had a security camera system. Thing is, my system is very, very old. It's so old it uses a tape recorder. So my son says I need new equipment. When he tells me the price of the DVR it seemed kind of high, but when the darn cameras were almost as expensive as the DVR I told him he was nuts. He says I need to move into the 21st century. I said he should pay for the equipment. After a lot of badgering, we reached a deal. I bought the equipment if he installed the system. Boy did I get taken. He used the same old coaxial cable that our older system used and just mounted the new cameras in place of the old.

Now I have to tell you that when I saw the pictures come up on the monitor I was really taken aback! I could NOT believe that I was looking at my security camera system, I though for sure it was a movie he took earlier or something. The clarity, the color, the sharpness, and the detail is just simply beyond description. This is an excellent recorder and now I am glad I purchased it. The next thing they need to do is come out with a camera that can fire a taser at a potential robber. Anyway, this is a great DVR and the cameras are too, I have no problem rating this DVR with 5 stars.
