The two biggest advantages this camera has going for it are its small size and its quickness. It works well and produces a good clear picture. The operating manual is in decent English so you can understand it too. Low light sensitivity is good but not great (it's rated for 0.2 Lux in color and 0.04 Lux in black and white). The resolution gains a hundred TV lines in black and white too going from 580 in color to 680 TV lines in black and white. It's got its own On Screen Display menu system that allows you to adjust several electronic features; however it does not have wide dynamic range control.

Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I have to say that I just wasn't overly impressed with this camera for the price category. It's a good quality camera, but it's like the features are a little outdated or something. Granted, it is a mini, it does come with its own mount, and it is fast on the PTZ movement. On the other hand though, it only has a 580 TVL color resolution (680 TVL black and white resolution). By "only" I mean in today's security camera market it would seem a higher color resolution camera would be in order for the price category especially considering that it only has a 12X zoom. It doesn't have an electronic wide dynamic range feature either which is a bit of a disappointment, especially if you use this as an outdoor camera. It does have many other features, but the lack of, or the lesser amount of things I pointed out left me unimpressed so I have to rate it at 3 stars.

This is a nice "mini" PTZ that also is a quick speed dome. The cameras responses are very quick and once you get used to it, it's pretty hard for anything to get by you without you keeping up with it. If your buying this camera for the 12X zoom though, you are buying it for the wrong reason. You can purchase Security Camera King's 700 TVL 12X zoom PTZ-LX700L12X for about almost $500 cheaper! Now this is a Veilux camera and that brand name usually indicates a quality camera so you know that you are going to get the best there is for the parameters it has mentioned in its specifications. The camera actually has a 580 TVL color resolution but when operated in black and white mode that resolution jumps to 680 TVL. The biggest factor about this camera is it's movement speed. it can pan at a speed of up to 250 degrees per second and it can tilt at that speed too. Just for the sake of mentioning it, it has endless 360 degree panning and up to 90 degrees of tile rotation angle. Another nice feature about this camera is that it can be password protected. This means once you've got the PTZ's settings where you want them you can password protect them to prevent someone else from changing them. If I mentioned all the other features we'd be here all day. Check out Security Camera King's "Description" and "Specifications" pages and download the actual Veilux specs under the "Downloads" tab for more information. The camera is quick, efficient, and effective and I am very happy with it.

This Security Camera King PTZ camera isn't a bad camera, but it's nothing to get excited about either. I hate to sound kind of "down" on it but for the price I was thinking I might get something a little more than what I got. It produces a good video recording but (and yeah, I knew this up front when I bought it) the color resolution is only 580 TVL. It's not unless you go with black and white do you get a nice resolution of 680 TVL. It's actually a Veilux camera with a Sony HAD CCD and you can't go wrong with that combination. Also, I'll give the camera credit for having a decent owner's manual that is longer than a 1 page illustration with a few words poorly translated from Chinese. The manual actually starts with how to install the camera and takes your through the operation of the On Scree Display menu. It does have lots of adjustable features on the OSD but I would expect that for a camera in this price range. It's got fair low light sensitivity (0.2 LUX color and 0.04 LUX black and white). Again for the price range, I would think it could be a little more light sensitive especially for use outdoors. Another thing it lacks is wide dynamic range which I found surprising. Once again, a camera in this price range should offer this feature, especially for a PTZ that's going to be moving around a lot outside. The optics are good and clear and the optical zoom works well. You can also use digital zoom which offers a power factor of 16X but really isn't very useful past the first few steps. Once again, it's not a bad camera, I just wasn't "wowed" by it like I thought I would be when I made the purchase.

This is an excellent PTZ dome camera, especially for pipe mounting. We purchased this camera to monitor our packing shed operations. (The size of the building and the height of the roof are about the same size as a large warehouse.) We pipe mounted this camera from the ceiling with about a 6 foot pipe and from its vantage point we can see every part of the packing line's floor and the entire operation. I estimate that to see the same views we see with this camera and to see them as close as we do using the zoom function that it would take us 6 to 8 wide angle lens cameras to replace this one, so the camera really does contribute toward paying for itself just by the number of cameras it replaces. And to be honest, we still wouldn't be able to get the close-up tight shots we get with this PTZ even if we used several cheaper wide angle cameras (maybe we could with varifocal cameras but they would cost more too. The PTZ functions on this camera are quick to respond to commands (we use the RS485 connection to the DVR) and it doesn't vibrate or jiggle on the pipe from the movements. The 580 TVL color and the 680 TVL black and white resolutions deliver a pretty fine, high quality video. We are very satisfied with its performance!

I installed a couple of these camera for a customer that recently purchased them from you. I've been in the CCTV business for several years now and I must say that whenever I hear of a Veilux product, I just assume the quality is going to be superb. Although this camera lacks wide dynamic range it does a pretty good job. I remember when I first encountered Veilux products and how impressed I was with their performance and the fact that their manuals were written in actual readable English and not poorly translated from another language. This mini speed dome is quick and accurate and produces a pretty good picture. At 580 TVL color resolution it also has good low light sensitivity and even more in black and white mode with the ICR cut filter on. While it may not have WDR, it certainly has back light compensation, a flickerless function, alarm input and actions, password protection, an image stabilizer, and an 8 privacy zone feature. In this case my customer is using both of these cameras indoors within a central location within a mall and the two cameras probably do the work of about 6 to 8 fixed lens dome cameras. Both of these cameras are connected in parallel on the RS485 wire pair and our controlled remotely from the DVR. Small, quick, responsive, and good quality.

(Sorry about the mistake below) Good "mini" PTZ camera. This camera is not a hidden camera by far but it is small enough that I think you could all it an indiscriminate or discrete PTZ. The camera's response time is quick and exact. The camera records in 580 TVL resolution in color and 680 TVL resolution in black and white. It has some video picture enhancing features and many touring options as well. It works on both Pelco protocols.

This is an excellent high quality camera in a small package. Generally, when you think of a Pan Tilt Zoom camera and the qualities that you want to see in the camera you're thinking of a good video recording, ease of use, and compatibility. This camera has all that and more. The camera has a 580 TVL resolution which is pretty good for picking up details especially when combined with the 12X optical zoom. The camera also has a 16X digital zoom which distorts the picture somewhat in the far end of the zoom but when used in the initial ranges of the digital zoom power actually enhances the optical zoom. The camera is easy to use and connect especially if you use it with a Security Camera King DVR. If not, it still offers good ca\compatibility with both Pelco-D and Pelco-P protocols. Like many PTZ cameras, this camera offers touring options such as auto presets, cruise, pattern scan and so on. However there are two additional features of this camera that make it a little different from other "standard" PTZ cameras of the same class. This camera is small and about as unobtrusive as you can get for a full service PTZ. Also, the camera motorized functions (P,T, and Z) are all pretty darn quick and don't take long to get the camera and lens where you want it to be. Also the camera's true day/night function is pretty sensitive to low light and does a good job there. If you switch over to black and white video you bump the resolution up to a full 680 TVL too. Over all I rate this mini with its included wall mount at five stars!

Nice camera for the size! It is a true day/night camera that can capture video in color or black and white. In color, the resolution is 580TVL but in black and white it bumps up to 680 TVL. The 12X optical zoom works really well and surprisingly so does the 16X digital zoom (combined they give you a total of 192X). The camera has touring functions, presets, and all the other features you'd expect from a full size PTZ camera. Plus, I have a Security Camera King DVR so I can remotely control the camera easily from my DVR. Good Mini PTZ!
