If you are a do-it-yourself (DIY) type kind of person and our considering installing your own security camera system or security camera and aren't sure about Security Camera Kings ID-EF700L2812D 700 TVL Day/Night Indoor camera, then I will try to shed some light on a few things for you in this review. Before I begin I should mention that I own three of these cameras and have had them for about 6 months now. First of all, why would you use this type of camera? Day/Night cameras are great for taking high quality color video recordings even in low light environments. They do not use built in infrared LED illuminators to "reveal" the darkness to the camera. Instead, they are super sensitive to very small amounts of light. Usually, they use something called an ICR Cut Filter during the day to remove or filter out the stray infrared illumination which can cause distortion to the image. At night, the filter is removed and the camera sensor is "opened up" to see all light, including infrared, to capture an image. For example, this camera has a minimum illumination rating of 0.001 LUX. That is a pretty good lowlight sensitivity. Basically the equivalency of light available at a 0.001 LUX rating is the same as that on an average starlit night. In other words the camera can use the stray light radiated by the stars to illuminate the image. This makes this camera great for use indoors when there is some sort of minimal residual light on, even at night time. For example, most retail stores leave a few residual lights on to allow security guards and authorities the ability to see inside the store at night. This is enough light for this camera to operate. Further, the camera is limited in range by how far a set of infrared LED illuminators can broadcast their light. So as long as their is some light, this camera could "see" all the way across a large department store building. In addition, this camera has a 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens. That means that you can adjust the lens to narrow and/or zoom your shot from a wide angle (focal length of 2.8mm) to a tighter one (12mm). This makes it a little easier on mounting since you can adjust the cameras point of view with the varifocal lens without having to remount the camera closer or farther away. This camera handles both functions extremely well. It also has an On Screen Display (OSD) menu system that will allow you to electronically set up and adjust your camera with features like back light compensation, day and night sensitivity, and digital noise reduction or DNR. DNR helps to eliminate some of the graininess or "noise" that often accompanies low light video capture. So there you have it. I must say I am very happy with my cameras and they continue to provide an excellent video recording and display!

We purchased two of these cameras here at work for monitoring our office area and they work great! The video picture is a high quality 700 TVL color resolution coming out of a Sony ExView HAD II CCD and an Effio-E DSP chip. Good manufacturer of sensors. This camera is worth the $20 more than the Security Camera King TPD-65MINI because of the varifocal lens. The 2.8 - 12 mm lens gives you a little zoom capability that allows you to adjust your shot to perfection after mounting. The camera does come with an On Screen Display menu that lets you make adjustments to a lot of helpful video capturing features like white balance, backlight compensation, and automatic gain control. With the built in intensifier and the automatic digital noise reduction even the very low light condition captures are pretty clear and sharp. I wouldn't have any hesitation about recommending this camera to others.

Excellent camera. This camera is more of a professional quality camera than what I expected for the price. IT has a lot of features that make it very versatile and it produces a good video recording. The camera has fine detail at a resolution of 700 TVL so your video recording and monitoring displays don't look like a view from a foggy pair of glasses; on the contrary the picture is clear, sharp, and color correct. One of the best features of this camera is the varifocal lens. The 2.8 - 12 mm varifocal lens gives you some flexibility in adjusting the shot from wide to a bit of a zoom or narrower shot, which is great when you want to get tight at cash registers, counters, and other applications like that. In addition, the camera comes with an On Screen Display menu system that allows you to adjust the settings for features like back light compensation, day or night sensitivity, and auto tracking white balance. To boot, the camera is also dual voltage so you can purchase it as an add-on for almost any system.

I like this camera. The 700 TVL resolution makes for a nicely detailed video recording. The color is accurate and the picture is sharp. The greatest benefit is the varifocal lens. It gives you a lot more flexibility with the camera and you don't have to worry about infrared LED ranges because it is a true day/night model. The on screen display menu system gives you some pretty good control over other features to customize your shot. Good camera, decent price.

Like this camera betrter than the fixed lens. For a few more bucks you get better adjustment. Great value!

I own a medium sized retail store and decided that I needed a security camera surveillance system. I purchased my system from you but customized it by changing around some of the cameras that I thought would best suit my situation for the location I would be mounting them in. The Security Camera King 700 TVL day/night indoor varifocal dome camera was one of these cameras. Installed the entire system by myself and it wasn't very difficult. This camera's 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens helped to make things much easier. The camera produces a great video recording that is very clear with vivid color. I wasn't exactly sure about the on screen display and the features since this was my first security system ever so I contacted your Technical support people. I must say they really do follow through on requests, are patient, kind, and knowledgeable. Keep this kind of service and you'll go somewhere!

The Security Camera King 700 TVL Day/Night Indoor Varifocal Dome Security camera is a high performance professional type security camera. The camera offers a lot of versatility for indoor use because of its 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens, day/night capability, and many electronic features. The camera is a "piece of cake" to mount, just a few screws and room for the cables and you are ready to go. The camera has an on screen display menu system that allows you to adjust the electronic features to your particular surroundings. Some of the features include back light compensation, day and night sensitivity, and digital noise reduction. I am particularly impressed with the low light video recording of this camera, especially when you use the OSD to adjust the day/night sensitivity along with the digital noise reduction to increase low light picture quality. It even has dual voltage capability to it can work on just about any system.

This is a very good indoor dome camera. There are no infrared LEDs on this camera so it always produces a color video. Although the camera may not be able to capture in total darkness, it requires very little light to produce a clear, crisp, color video. The 700 TVL resolution is extremely fine and shows some very good detail in the video. The camera has a 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens that allows you to adjust the angle of your shot. It also has its own on screen display menu to control many of its features such as light sensitivity, back light compensation, and so on to enhance the picture that it produces. Since the camera doesn't use infrared LEDs it is pretty light sensitive. When you use it in environments that have very low ambient light it has a built in automatic digital noise reduction feature that helps to eliminate a lot of the snow or noise that comes with very low light shots. It also has dual voltage if you need it.

We recently bought your product number ID-EF700L2812D, 700 TVL Day/Night Vari-Focal Dome Security Camera. This camera is a beauty for the price. The 700 TVL resolution produces a really fine video that is not only clear but pretty "right on" for color correctness too. The on screen display system allows me to make adjustments easily and I'm amazed at how well the camera works in low light conditions. The Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) must work really well because we really don't have much fuzziness under low light conditions. We didn't need the dual voltage because we already own a Security Camera King system (12 Volt) but it is nice to have in case you have a 24 volt system. Good Camera. Good Price.
