The OB-EL700IR100L2812 is our newest 700tvl varifocal bullet. It features a Sony 1/3" CCD with an outstanding DSP. Of course this bullet camera is weatherproof so you can use it in any environment. There is enough Infra Red LED power to see in complete darkness up to 100'ft away and with the 2.8-12mm varifocal lens you can use this camera as an overview camera or zoomed in tighter for greater detail. Since this camera is Dual Voltage you can power it with either 12V DC or 24V AC. We highly recommend AC power since these cameras often have longer runs and there is less voltage drop off with 24V AC. One of the greatest features of this camera found in very few CCTV cameras these days is the ability to control the camera OSD (On Screen Display) remotely using the RS485 connection. This extra connection will allow you to configure all the internal settings of the camera like WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), BLC, day/night settings, HLC (Head Light Compensation) and much more. This means you will no longer need to get that ladder out, disconnect the camera, and set up the OSD using a small monitor connected to the camera.

This is a very attractive camera, not necessarily in design but in addition to that, considering all of the options and features it presents. Let me start at the beginning. The picture quality is extremely good. I'm a little partial to Sony Super HAD II CCDs because I think that Sony has the upper hand in the market on these sensors for capturing good quality video, especially when you combine it with one of their digital signal processors. The 700 TVL resolution provides a nice, clear, detailed video to start off with. Next up is the 2.8 to 12mm varifocal lens. This is a manual focus and zoom lens with the control knobs located on the back of the camera case, out of the way of a potential "fiddler." I have no problem with the manual focus, because it's not like I would sit at the monitor all day and just zoom the camera in and out. That being said, combine the excellence of framing and zooming your shot with the 700TVl resolution and the Sony technology and you get a pretty nice quality security camera. The camera performs well in low or no light conditions too. I don't quite get the full 100 foot infrared mode range listed in the specifications for the camera but that's ok because I don't need exactly 100 feet anyway. What is nice about it is that if you use the varifocal lens to zoom in on something you have that longer range to work with for infrared mode shots. The camera has an On Screen Display menu and it can be controlled by the built in button joystick that is located on the video/power cable. However, if you prefer to be able to make OSD menu changes after initially setting up your camera, and without running back and forth every time you do it, the camera also has an RS485 connection that can be joined to your DVR to control the OSD from there. Although I don't need it, as a matter of information, the camera also has dual voltage capability for either 12 VDC or 24 VAC operation.

At the risk of sounding like a person with a bad attitude I must admit that I wouldn't mind finding something to complain about with this camera just to be different from most of the other reviews, but I really can't. It works great. It has all the right goodies to make it pretty versatile and the quality components to back it up. First the 700 TVL color resolution is great. There is so much more detail in these recordings than in my old 420 TVL resolution cameras, the difference to me is like night and day. Next, there's nothing like a bullet camera that's already to go "play" outside. To me it beats messing around with enclosures like you usually have to do with a box camera, and for my application a dome camera just wouldn't cut it. Next up is the lens. A 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens gives you the option of going wide angle or zooming in some to "tighten" up the shot. It's certainly not a telescope, but by the same token, the varifocal lens makes mounting and acquiring just the right field of view frame much easier. By the way, the zoom and focus knobs are located on the back of the camera so you don't have to take the visor off to make any lens adjustments. This camera has an On Screen Display and even though I usually don't mess much with my OSD's once they are set, I still like the option of being able to change the settings--easily, without climbing up and down a ladder in the middle of winter. Needless to say, this camera has an RS485 remote connection so I can do everything right from my Security Camera King DVR. The OSD has all the features you normally look for to enhance your shot like wide dynamic range. back lighting compensation, and a lot more. Finally, just when you think you've heard everything, I should also mention that the camera is dual voltage capable. Although I am a 12 VDC system kind of guy, the camera can also handle 24 VAC power supplies that adds even more to the versatility. I think Security Camera King needs to hang on to this one for a while, I think you've got a keeper.

This is an excellent 700TVL high resolution camera. The price is very competitive if you compare it with, say a "box" camera of the same resolution. The difference being with this bullet is that it already is weatherproof , it has an infrared range in total darkness of about 100 feet, and you don't have to purchase the lens separately. This camera has a 2.8 - 12 mm varifocal lens and is dual voltage so those are comparables also. The lens is easy to adjust too. Just two knobs on the back of the camera that adjust the zoom and focus -- no need to take the camera apart to adjust the lens like other bullet cameras require. Probably one of the biggest advantages this camera has over most bullets and box cameras alike is that it has an RS485 hook up for controlling the On Screen Display menu remotely from the DVR. In fact there are quite a few features that come with the camera to increase your likelihood of a better, clearer shot. Wide dynamic range and back light compensation work together to eliminate annoying shadow or bright light problems, day/night settings, and if you have the need, this camera has something called "Head Light Compensation" that can block out the glare of the headlights of a direct oncoming vehicle. We will definitely be buying more of these in the future.

We use this camera for capturing car license plates entering our facility. Due to the nature of our business we have manned gates for entrance and exit and each car must stop at the gate to checking with the guard shack. While the car is stopped at the guard posts, we use this camera for license plate capture. Since every state has a license plate in the rear of the vehicle but not necessarily in the front, we have the camera set up to capture the rear license plate. This is necessary for us for entry and exit documentation purposes. The camera's 700 TVL resolution combined with its 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens allows the ability to get a good shot of almost every license plate. Occasionally a vehicle may cross our path where the plate is out of range of the camera's field of view but it doesn't happen very often. One of the keys to getting good daytime license plate capture id the wide dynamic range setting. You probably don't think about this but you'd be surprised how many vehicle's rear plates are over shadowed by other car parts. That's where the wide dynamic range comes in, it compensates well for these lighting issues. Another thing that makes this camera easy to use is the remote RS485 connection capability for the management of the On Screen Display. We've found that depending on several factors, we may need to "fine tune" our settings from time to time and the RS485 connection allows us to do that and see it happen all at the same time from the DVR and monitor. We seem to get good results with this camera both day and night, and the powerful infrared LEDs probably help to make that so for night time. It's a nice little camera and it's working out well for us.

I think this is an excellent bullet camera that is not only high quality but provides the user with a lot of flexibility in use as well! I purchased two of the Security Camera King OB-EL700IR100L2812 cameras and they are great! The video recording and monitoring displays are very clear and color correct and I have the advantage of being able to make a fairly long power run without worrying about voltage loss because I use the 24 VAC system. Not only that, but another feature that adds to the flexibility of the camera is the RS485 connection. I ran a one pair cable with the video cable and power run from the camera to the DVR and connected it to both devices RS 485 connections. Now I can operate the On Screen Display menus (OSD) on each camera from the DVR. (saves me quite a bit of hassle since the cameras and the DVR are about 800 feet away from each other). The camera has a nice Sony CCD and an excellent digital signal processing chip. I like Sony's CCDs and I think they produce very good video recordings and capture qualities. The camera also has a built in varifocal lens with a focal length range from 2.8 - 12 mm. You really get more like 3.3 mm on the low end, but just the same it offers a wide angle overview picture. The 12 mm high end of the range may not be the highest possible, but it does offer sufficient zoom and narrowing of the field of view. One of the reasons you want to connect the RS485 on these cameras is because of the wealth of features that they offer to enhance image capture. The OSD lets you adjust things like back light compensation, wide dynamic range, the day/night settings and even headlight compensation if you need to. The mount is solid and holds the camera to the mounting surface well. I can't really offer anything negative about the camera because it is a very good bullet camera.
The Security Camera King 700 TVL Weatherproof Varifocal Dual Voltage IR Bullet Security Camera does a pretty good job of capturing license plates when it is set up properly. Thanks to Security Camera King for listing this on their "License Plate Cameras" page or I never would have thought of using this for that purpose. Instead I probably would have invested $300 - $400 or more for a camera that I wouldn't really need. The camera seems to have all the right features that are needed to utilize it as a license plate capture camera without the extra expense. The 700 TVL resolution is crisp and clear in color or in black and white when in infrared mode. Speaking of infrared mode, the camera has a host of some 40 odd infrared LEDs surrounding the lens that gives the camera about a 100 foot infrared range in total darkness. You wouldn't think that would be an issue for monitoring a tenant parking garage, but you'd be surprised at the number of people that turn their lights off when the enter the garage because once they are inside, the garage is lit. My entire parking garage as well as the entire Towers residence building is protected by a full time security camera system. I ran the necessary pair of wires to be able to connect the RS485 connection on my DVR to operate the camera's OSD without a problem although I have to admit that once I got everything fine tuned just the way I wanted it I really haven't had to use it much since.
This is a high quality camera that makes a very clear, sharp video picture. Not only is the 700 TVL a remarkable resolution, but the varifocal lens gives you some zooming capability to make the shot even better. The OSD gives you lots of feature options to improve your shot and that includes wide dynamic range and back light compensation. The specs say you get a 100 foot infrared mode range in total darkness but I think I get more like around 80 with a maximum of 90. I bought this camera as a replacement for one of my cameras that was damaged. I like the camera and it works well, but I just wish Security Camera King had a bullet camera in a price range about midway between this one and their only other cheaper one that sells for $59.95.
Security Camera King's OB-EL700IR100L2812 bullet camera produces a great video picture and has lots of electronic features to ensure that the job gets done. It's got some great physical features that make it versatile too. For example it's dual voltage so it makes a great "add on" camera to any system. The 2.8 - 12 mm manual varifocal lens lets you go wide or tight for the shot and its 42 infrared LEDs give it a range of about 100 feet in infrared mode in total darkness. This camera also has an RS$*% connection so you can connect a pair of wires to your DVR's RS485 connection to control its On Screen Display menu from the DVR. The OSD will give you control over such electronic features as the all important wide dynamic range, Sens-Up, backlight compensation, white balance settings, and day/night settings and more. We've been using two of these outdoors for about 8 months now and they work great. No complaints at all!

Excellent 700 TVL resolution camera for the price. Security Camera King's OB-EL700IR100L2812 has a nice 1/3 inch CCD with a correspondingly nice digital signal processor. (I'm partial to CCDs I just think they provide a better quality picture than a CMOS). Need infrared? The camera lens is surrounded with a whopping 42 infrared LEDs that give the camera a range of about 100 feet in infrared mode in total darkness. What's even better is that the camera has a 2.8 - 12 mm varifocal lens so you can go from wide angle to a zoomed shot if you need to and the LEDs can back up the IR coverage on the zoomed shot. The camera is dual voltage too so you can use it on preexisting systems with wither DC or AC voltage. This bullet also comes with an On Screen Display (OSD) that can be controlled by a joystick type button that is pre-built into the video line. Or it also has convenient connection posts to connect a pair of wires to the RS485 connection on your DVR to control the OSD from there. Plus, the OSD offers control over many features such as back light compensation, wide dynamic range, day/night settings and more. This is a very good quality camera and I would be glad to recommend it to others.

I really like this camera! The price is right and so are the features! The 700 TVL resolution is absolutely great! Fine detail and a crisp clear picture with good color. The camera comes with a 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens so you can do some decent zooming for a narrower shot which ultimately makes choosing a mounting location easier. In addition, this camera has its own built in infrared LEDs and it has a range of about 100 feet in total darkness. The infrared mode comes on automatically when there is sufficient light for daytime mode. This camera is also dual voltage so it can run on either 12 VDC or 24VAC systems. Finally, I wouldn't normally expect a camera in this price range to have an on screen display but the OB-EL700IR100L2812 does and it comes with a variety of electronic features to boot, including wide dynamic range, head light compensation, and back light compensation to name a few. Excellent camera!
