Our Federal Series DVR features embedded Linux OS, remote monitoring from anywhere in the world, audio recording on all channels and H.264 compression. This is NOT a PC based DVR which is subject to viruses and hacking. This is a standalone unit built for only one purpose.
The Federal Series DVR is the state-of-the-art in digital surveillance technology. This DVR features professional grade components and is manufactured to industrial standards. Its advanced functionality makes this one of the best standalone systems on the market today.
This unit is all about versatility. With HDMI, VGA and BNC Video outputs, you can operate several different monitors simultaneously. And, with the included Matrix output, you can also run a separate monitor that can be programmed to display a completely different series of cameras! Need to output a single camera to its own monitor? This is not a problem with our built-in loop connectors. Every channel has its own BNC output that can be used to provide video to a monitor, a multiplexer, or anywhere you need it!
The Federal Series records real-time video and audio at either CIF (360 x 240) or 4CIF (704 x480) or 960H (960 x 480) resolution on every channel. That's right! This unit can record up to 960 x 480 at 30fps on all channels simultaneously. Match this capability against any other DVR on the market today and you will see why this is truly an amazing DVR! It is ideal for use in casinos, for license plate capture, facial detection or anywhere that high resolution images are paramount.
The Federal Series DVR is amazingly simple to setup and operate. An intuitive mouse-driven interface provides very simple point-and-click control over all functions and settings. In addition, the unit also includes an IR remote control. The jog shuttle control can be used to easily fast forward, rewind, and advance frame by frame. Up to 16 channels can be played back at the same time at the DVR, and 4 channels can be played back via the web interface or client software.
This DVR features two Gigabit network ports. One can be configured to take over if the network should fail on the other or they can be set up to load balance offering the ability to stream more data at one time. The built-in Web server allows you to perform most every function of the DVR remotely with Internet Explorer. Client software is also included to allow you to centrally monitor multiple Ultimate Series units simultaneously. Two-way audio over the network or Internet is also standard on the Federal Series. So, not only can you hear what is going on, you can interact. This DVR supports up to 20 simultaneous network or Internet users. With Dynamic DNS support, it is not necessary to have a static IP address on your network in order to remotely access this DVR. This saves you money, as most ISPs charge extra for a static IP address.
Having the ability to remotely view your system is great, but what if you are on the road and just can't monitor your system all the time. This is no problem with the Federal Series DVRs highly flexible email capability. Just set up a standard POP email account and have the system email you anywhere based on any criteria you choose. Many of our customers have emails sent to their cell phone for real time alerts. You choose email triggers that you want, and the DVR does the rest.
Storage capacity will never be a problem with the Federal Series DVR. Up to 8 SATA hard disk drives can be installed if no burner is mounted, and up to 6 SATA drives can be installed if you choose to use the DVD-RW drive. In addition, the DVR supports eSATA to allow you to use removable external eSATA drives to store your footage. RAID hard disk management keeps your data safe from hard drive failures, while FTP backup and recording functionality ensures your video is safe even if the DVR is destroyed.
Video can be backed up to a DVD-RW or a USB thumb drive for safe keeping or in the event that you must give the footage to the police. Video can also be saved right on your PC for easy access.
The easy 3D mouse operated PTZ control allows you to control any PTZ camera. Just click on the screen and drag your mouse around. The PTZ camera follows the mouse pointer so you can smoothly and accurately follow any objects of interest.
This system runs on a rock solid Linux embedded OS, with embedded web server, and digital signal processors to bring you the most powerful network-based digital video recorder available. This high end system will provide you with everything you need other than a monitor. If you tie the system into your network, you wont even need a monitor to view your DVR.
The Federal Series DVR comes with an industry leading FULL 3 YEAR WARRANTY !!
And don't forget that we provide support for every step of your installation project.
***Please note: In most cases we will be able to remotely assist you in the configuration of your computer network for remote DVR viewing. However, we cannot be responsible for complex network configuration or the performance of your internet connection.***

8 Channel Federal Series H.264 960H Realtime Security DVR

I would say that if you are looking for a premium product, this definitely qualifies as one of them. At least my customers are totally satisfied with the Federal Series DVR. I wouldn't necessarily say I needed this for my home (because of the large resolution recording size and cost versus something like a D1 or CIF) but it definitely suits the purpose for commercial applications. I have actually installed several of these units within the tri-cities metropolitan area with customers ranging from government facilities, to banks, to corporations. The Federal series 960H resolution (960 X480 pixels) is about the best you can do for an analog type camera system. Speaking of cameras, do yourself a favor. If you purchase a 960H resolution DVR make sure your cameras are as close to 700 TVL resolution as you can obtain or afford. You'll thank me for that when you see how great the video is. Not only is the resolution pretty large on this unit but the size of the DVR alone is too, and that's a good thing. The DVR comes in a 2U size rack mountable case. The hardware for rack mounting is included. The size of the unit provides for plenty of room so you can also add a DVD burner which Security Camera King essentially installs for free (cost of the burner is $37.95 but Security Camera King only charges you for the burner and not the installation). But even more importantly, the size of the DVR case allows for additional internal hard drive space if you need it (960H at 30 frames per second recording continuously can take up a good chunk of space.) Also, another benefit of the Federal series DVR is the dual gigabit network ports. Generally, I see most clients using them to increase their data load but they can be set up in a back-up formation in case one fails. As I said in the beginning, none of my customers have ever been disappointed with this unit and I highly doubt you will either.

If size does matter, and bigger is better, then this DVR has got it covered. There's a lot going on with this machine but it seems to handle the workload without any difficulties. We haven't had any crashes, video losses, or instances requiring a reboot in the past 4 months that we have owned it. As far as the quality of the video recording is concerned, I haven't seen anything that can do much better. Security Camera King says this is "designed for Enterprise use" and I can't argue with that. Eight cameras isn't a lot to handle but remember these are each recording in a 960 X 480 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second, so that is rather impressive. I think the fact that this unit is rack mountable and includes two RJ45 Ethernet ports that can be configured to work together to ease the workload or redundantly as a backup to one another is certainly enough to qualify it for Enterprise use. As far as our use is concerned we use all 8 video channels 4 audio channels and 12 alarm input channels and 3 alarm output channels. The DVR performs its necessary functions with these options as described and without fail. If you wanted and needed to, you could actually run 3 main monitors simultaneously (HDMI, VGA, and BNC) and a Video Matrix output (BNC) and theoretically, a loopout for every camera. One of the really nice features of this DVR is the Internet remote access function and the control you, as the administrator, have over that. The DVR can send you e-mails based on alarmed triggers (like a camera picking up motion detection) and if you have a smartphone or a personal computer nearby, you can remotely access the system and that particular camera to see what is going on. (Security Camera King has applications for smartphones, tablets, and personal computers that are free to download). The unit has plenty of room for storage, though the storage may not necessarily be cheap and it comes with a 3 year warranty.

This is the king of all analog 8 channel DVRs. I use this for security camera surveillance and protection at my bowling alley. Because of the lengths of the sides of the building, I use 700 TVL bullet cameras with varifocal lenses and record each channel at 960 X 480 in real-time. I like this resolution's display better and because of the long lengths involved you can actually see a "truer" display when you play back the recorded video. The video is spectacular both in color and in black and white (the camera's infrared mode) as far as clarity and sharpness are concerned and the 700 TVL resolution cameras pick up plenty of detail for my use. The DVR also does a good job of recording I actually have two channels of recorded audio) and since the DVR is located in my office I use the alarm inputs on it for my office, ball drilling and repair room, and the restaurant. We actually use two simultaneous monitors, the HDMI monitor is in my office while we also have a VGA monitor mounted out at the counter area for the employees to view. With a couple of our cameras we record continuously but on most of them we record based on motion detection triggers so we have plenty of internal storage while still maintaining enough room for the pre-installed DVD burner. I do use the remote monitoring function with my Android phone from time to time and it works fine. I think the 960H format has got to be a pretty good competitor for the lower end but much more expensive IP NVRs. In a way you could say it's the bridge between the analog and digital systems. At any rate, I'm really satisfied with my system and I think you would be too!

We've actually purchased four of these DVRs over the past year, not for ourselves but to fulfill a government contract we have with DOD. I must say that Security Camera King's 8 Channel Federal Series H.264 960H Realtime Security DVR delivers excellent results, exactly as promised in its specifications. It would appear that a lot of government (both state and federal) agencies that require the use of a video security and surveillance system have starting specifying recording resolutions of 960 X 480 pixels at real-time rates (30 frames per second). I think this is partially due to the fact that not only does the 960H resolution DVR provide a more true or correct picture with out the slight "bending" effect of a D1 for example, but also because it is a good way to get a fairly large resolution recording while still using "analog" camera equipment which is much cheaper in price than the IP megapixel systems available today. The DVR also does a good job of handling audio input and usually surpasses the contract specifications by providing 16 channels of alarm inputs with a 12 VDC relay output to up to 6 channels and the cameras themselves. The video display features are another area where the Security Camera King 960H goes a step above by providing HDMI, VGA, and BNC simultaneous monitor display (i.e. three monitors at the same time) while also providing options for video matric output and video loop outs for each camera. Finally this DVR also surpasses most of the competition by providing two Ethernet gigabit ports that can offer either back up or tandem use to insure non-failure from the network or increase the work load of the bandwidth. I can say without a doubt that you won't be disappointed by this DVR. I know we haven't been and neither have our customers.

We bought this Security Camera King Federal Series DVR because we thought that bigger is always better but that may not necessarily be true. The DVR works like a charm but in retrospect, I think we could have gotten by with the 8 Channel Ultimate Series DVR for about $400 less. Don't get me wrong, if you are looking for a DVR that records the largest analog camera resolution display, you'll want this one. However, personally for our needs I think the purchasing department went with a little bit of overkill. It's got two Ethernet ports that can be used as a back up to one another or can be used together to increase your actual data stream amount. Once again, this is a great feature, but I really don't think our company is big enough to support this. The other consideration is storage. Every time you increase the size of the display resolution, your going to need a proportionally larger amount of storage to store the same length and frame rate of video. In a way, because of the files sizes you're forced to by more storage for this DVR than say an Ultimate DVR because of the increased resolution. Once again, if you can afford that, then it's not an issue. It's a good DVR, but make sure you assess your needs before you commit to the expense, you may find out that something smaller and less expensive will do the job for you.

The corporation that I work for recently purchased the Security Camera King 8 channel Federal DVR. We use this DVR to cover certain processes that we perform and because some of the contracts we have require that we provide them with the video data and it must be recorded in a 960H (960 X 480) format. There are actually two major differences that I can tell at least, between the Ultimate Series and the Federal series 8 channel recorders. The Federal has the higher resolution video recording of course and it also has dual data ports (RJ45 Ethernet ports to connect to the network). These can be set up to work in tandem so that our over all data stream capacity is increased, which works out very nicely for us because we have a lot of managers that access the system remotely. This DVR seems to be top notch on quality and the ability to offer a wealth of electronic and physical features.

The 8 channel Federal series DVR is working extremely well for us and seems to handle the workload as well as the bandwidth usage over our network without any problems. Our company managers decided that, for our purpose, they wanted the biggest video recording display they could find and I must admit that 960 X 480 is pretty darn big for a security camera recording. Actually the DVR lets you choose from several recording resolutions including 960 X 480, 4CIF (D1) or 704 X 480, and CIF (360 X 240) all at real-time recording rates, that is 30 frames per second. All 8 channels can be played back on the DVR at the same time on the monitor and if you are using the web interface or Security Camera King client software, 4 cameras can be played back at once. The DVR case is large but rack mountable. We have no use for the DVD burner as we use our computers to burn and DVDs that may be necessary so we use the extra space to take advantage of the 24 Tb maximum of internal hard drive storage. On that note, one thing I'd like to see in the future is a DVR that might be able to utilize commercial storage sites on the Internet. This way, the DVR could send the recordings to "the cloud" and the storage space could be greatly increased based on the providers servers. The DVR also has two RJ45 Ethernet ports. They can be used as redundancy backup but we prefer to use them in tandem to increase our overall bandwidth output for streaming. There is very little that you can't do with this DVR and the quality is excellent!

If you're wondering if this DVR is right for you or if you are wondering what features and options it's got, perhaps it would be easier to ask yourself first, what doesn't it have? The Security Camera King 8 Channel Federal Series DVR is a unit designed for network use that not only can handle the large data streaming of multiple users accessing the DVR but it also records the video in a display that is larger than most any security camera DVR you will find, 960 X 480 pixels per channel, each at 30 frames per second! I must admit, I was skeptical when I was first told we were going to purchase this model at work because thinking of the work that some of the fastest personal computers go through rendering just one video, I couldn't believe a unit could handle 8 cameras doing the same thing at once, let alone support as many simultaneous network or Internet users as it does. The quality of the video output from this DVR is simply outstanding with large, sharp, color correct video picture displays. Just think of it, older computer monitors used to max out at a display resolution of 800 X 600 pixels and this unit records 8 full channels at once at 960 X 480. I must tell you though that once we made our purchase and this unit arrived, my skepticism was soon laid to rest. Inside the DVR lies some of the fastest computer processors that handle all the digitizing and they do a fantastic job. Outside the DVR (on the back) are two Ethernet "gigabit" ports that can be used in tandem to combine data streaming bandwidth to easily handle the loads of users, or if you prefer, can be set up as a redundancy system where one can back the other up in case of failure. One thing I can tell you for sure. If you plan to record continuously on all cameras and you want to maintain your recording files for a while before overwriting them, forget about the DVD burner and get the full 24 Terabytes of internal hard drive storage; you'll be glad you did. There really isn't enough room here to provide all the details that should be provided to do a proper review of this unit, so I will end this by saying that it is a very good DVR and it is loaded with a ton of features for enterprise use.
A Truly Exceptional Security Camera Digital Video Recorder!

Excellent performance and an incredibly large resolution recording, Security Camera King's 8 Channel Federal series H.264 960H realtime security DVR has got to be the best and biggest 8 channel DVR in the market. There's nothing like 960 X 480 recording on every channel at full speed, 30 frames per second. If you combine this with an Ultra high resolution camera like a 700 TVL or a 700 TVL with a zoom lens and you will get incredible detail. Be forewarned that if you plan on recording continuously with this DVR at the highest quality and size resolution recording, it will use up a lot of storage space in no time. So if that is your intent, purchase as much storage space as you possibly can to prevent quick overwrite or turnaround recording times. That shouldn't be much of an issue if you can afford it though because if you don't install the DVD burner you max out the internal storage capacity at 24 Terabytes. In addition, the Federal series DVR has eSATA capability and connections so you can use external SATA hard drives to increase your storage capacity even more. This DVR is also loaded with many features or additional options. Some include 8 channel audio recording and two way audio over the Internet (or your network). Speaking of a network, there are also two Ethernet cable connections that can be used in tandem to increase your bandwidth or as a redundancy feature to back each other up. You can also gain remote access and monitoring to your DVR with a computer, smartphone, or iPad. All you have to do is download Security Camera King's apps and they are all free! This is an excellent machine and the quality is superior. In addition, the unit is backed by a full 3 year warranty.

I don't usually write many reviews for a product, especially for the company, unless I am really impressed (either positively or negatively). However, Security Camera King's DVR-FE08240 8 Channel Federal Series H.264 960H Realtime Security DVR is a "mega-DVR" and we are very satisfied with its performance. I can't say where or how we use the DVR here, but I will tell you that we use it with very high resolution cameras and even a Pan Tilt Zoom camera in sensitive areas of the Resort. It provides an incredibly large, detailed recording (for us, we use the 960 x 480 resolution on each channel at 30 frames per second) on all 8 channels at once and can even play them back at once. The DVR is easy to operate and adjust since it uses an on screen display menu system that allows the user to navigate through pages of setting and feature choices. This can be controlled using the included infrared remote control or the USB mouse. In fact, even the PTZ camera can be controlled by the mouse. The DVR is geared toward network or Internet use with two Ethernet ports, two-way audio over the network or Internet, and controllability of the unit from a computer using Internet Explorer. At this time we are seriously considering another purchase and using the client software to monitor them both. Also, 8 channels of 960 XX 480 realtime recording can take up a lot of storage space but the DVR can actually handle up to 24 Tb of internal storage to compensate for this. This is a great professional DVR for commercial application use.
