Complete 32 Channel Elite DVR Security Camera Package -- Installation Only--Especially For DIYers
Review by Dave Carson New York on Apr 30, 2013
Security Camera King has put together a pretty good system here. As they say in their description of the system it does not include a monitor but does include everything else needed to install the system. However there is one more item that is not included with this system for installation and that is cable clamps or some other type of hard ware for attaching the cable to the surfaces where it the cameras will be installed for a neat installation. For example, if you intend to place the cameras under eaves or other places where you can't help but expose the cable, you will need to purchase some clamps or clips to hold the cable in place. I'm not sure how many do-it-your-self people will purchase a 32 camera system but if you are one of them, you will want to consider this and purchase some hardware in advance so you can begin installing the day you receive your system if you want. As for the system itself, it is pretty easy to install. Again, the biggest issue I had was the cabling runs (they can be a real pain in the but if you don't have hanging ceilings or easy access to walls and such). Also, for drilling holes in walls you will need to get a special bit made for such installations that is extremely long to reach through the wall. These bits usually have little holes in the ends that you can tie the cable to so when you pull the drill bit back out from the holes drilled in the wall it will feed the cable to you as well. For heavens sake DO NOT turn or engage the drill bit with the drill while doing this! Also, although the 100 foot long plug and play cables will normally suffice for most installations take note that if you have longer cable runs you will need to purchase the rolls of Siamese cable in which you are probably better off since you will get better quality transmission over longer runs with RG59 coaxial cable. Thankfully the power supply boxes have their own electronic fuse system so if you short something out you are protected. My advice on this is to connect all the flying leads to the power box first, then plug in the power box or even plug the cameras in to the leads before turning on the power supply boxes and you will eliminate a lot of potential problems. Finally as far as installation is concerned, if you intend to use multiple monitors but it different locations, VGA cable probably has the shortest maximum length without signal degradation of about 30 feet, HDMI is next with about 40 to 45 feet, and BNC with coaxial cable can usually go over 600 feet. There are cable manufacturers that may argue this, but it is best to check your monitor/cable and length before installing multiple monitors. Finally, especially for DIYers, if you are planning on recording any sound, you will need to purchase microphones as the cameras that come with the system do not include them. Security Camera King's powered microphones work great and are reasonably inexpensive. Don't forget you'll need to run wire and possibly require clamps for this too and you will also need to purchase Power Splitter "Y" Adapters to feed power to each of your microphones that are installed with your cameras. I think that's about it on installation. The Cameras and the DVR works great; check the other reviews and specifications for information about them.
COMPLETE 32 CHANNEL ELITE DVR SECURITY CAMERA PACKAGE
Review by Don Olson on Apr 03, 2013
When the time comes for a 32 camera system, I would assume that most customers are getting serious about their security camera needs. Actually, I guess to be more accurate, I should say most customers’ needs are commercial, because I imagine everyone is serious about their security camera system whether it is 4 cameras or 32. At any rate one thing is for certain and that is if you pay to have a 32 security camera system installed, be prepared to shell out at least anywhere from several thousand dollars up to the teens of thousands of dollars or more for the system and the installation. I installed this system for my company with the help of another coworker. Accounting checked the price differential between our wages during installation and the price of the unit from Security Camera King and determined that the company still saved several thousand dollars on the installation and system. Thanks Security Camera King, because my co-worker and I were awarded a bonus because of the vast savings. Now for the package system itself; it works great. It handles the workload off all 32 cameras recording at once (don’t ask me how) at the “real time” (30 frames per second) speed. The videos are not the largest or finest I’ve seen on a computer screen (CIF resolution) but they are still very sharp, clear and colorful. When the cameras switch to infrared mode, I was surprised because the video is still clear and detailed (except now it’s in black and white). Of course my boss and other executives that have been granted access to the system as well as the security crew, really like the remote access via the Internet. I think just about everyone here has a smartphone that needs one, plus they have a personal computer at their desk, so they can access just about any camera they want at anytime. At this time, our IT department is still downloading some apps on some devices but as of this point I can say there hasn’t been one problem. One last note about this package system. If you are not a security camera professional or CCTV installer, you can install this system with very little difficulty. In fact the only difficulty you may have is setting up the system and getting it to work on the Internet if you are not very computer savvy like me. But what holds especially true is the fact that Security Camera King includes everything you need to install a system (except the tools) besides the clips, clamps, or whatever to attach the cables to. Also, I did use their technical support service and the folks there were absolutely great, so you always have some back up if you get stuck. I would easily recommend this system or Security Camera King to others and I am getting ready to order a system for my home too.
Complete 32 Channel Elite DVR Security Camera Package

I only have one negative thing to say concerning the Security Camera King Complete 32 Channel Elite DVR Security Camera Package and that is if you are going to purchase this system, you may want to reconsider and purchase the Complete 32 Channel ULTIMATE Security Camera Package instead. Not considering the addition of hard drives, DVD burners or anything else, there is only a difference of $271 dollars between the two systems and considering you are paying over $3000 for them anyway, that relatively small extra amount is worth it to get the D1 real time resolution recording on all of the cameras. It's also a value within Security Camera King itself. I noticed that on the individual DVR catalog page the difference in price between the 32 Channel Elite and the 32 Channel Ultimate DVRs is exactly $300 so you save a little more on the package deal. I also have one suggestion for those of you who, like me, are not professional CCTV installers and are attempting to install the system yourself. (The system is NOT hard to install, but it IS time consuming so give yourself plenty of lead way.) Go to Security Camera King's "Security Camera Monitors" page (found near the bottom of the "Security Camera Accessories" page, and add the purchase of the 2.5 Inch LCD Service Monitor w/Wrist Strap for $114.95! Look at it this way, your already saving thousands by installing the system yourself so this is a small additional expense and I guarantee you it will save you a tremendous amount of time! Unless, of course, you like running up and down a ladder and back and forth to the DVR and Main Monitor to adjust the aim on the cameras. As for the rest of my review, the system works very well. The cameras produce a good, clear, video and the DVR does a good job of handling the task of recording up to all 32 cameras at the same time. There are a lot of additional features on the DVR so check them out because you will find many of them very useful and things that you probably never thought of before (like an alarm system and multiple simultaneous Main Monitor displays). Security Camera King has a very good technical support staff so don't be afraid to use them either.

First off, I've found Security Camera King equipment to be excellent in quality, and I have never had a customer that has been disappointed with an installation yet. That includes this complete 32 channel Elite DVR package. I like to give my customers as many options as possible for their needs but I must admit I have been finding myself persuading them more and more to Security Camera King products because of the quality and reliability. Without getting too philosophical, there are many positives and negatives to 32 channels systems. Some aspects to consider when you need this many cameras are how big of a display, how much storage, how many DVRs, etc. This package displays CIF resolution at a real-time rate of 30 frames per second. CIF is not very large but depending on the use, placement and type of the cameras, CIF resolution may be just fine for your application. The fact that this DVR comes in a 2U case and has the electronics to support the extra internal hard drive storage as well as external (using eSATA hard drives) there is plenty of potential for storage. That's good because you may not realize it but 32 cameras even at a small resolution like CIF recording 24 hours a day for 7 days will use up over 2.5 Terabytes of storage space so if you like to keep a long history of files, storage is something to consider. The other factor is the number of DVRs. Is it best to use on 32 camera DVR, 2 16 camera DVRs, or 4 8 camera DVRs. Well your individual circumstances will normally determine this for you but if you are worried about using more than one DVR for 32 channels for the sake of failure compensation, I can tell you that I haven't had a problem with any of the Security Camera King Elite 32 channel systems failing yet. I can say with confidence that I do recommend the Elite 32 channel system package.
This is a nice package at a reasonable price for a 32 camera system. If you need a 32 channel system, you must have a lot of territory or possessions to cover. Also, if that is the case, my recommendation is to use as many features as possible that are available on this system to get the best use for your money. My suggestion is that you take a close look at what you need before you buy to make sure the system fits you best. Nothing against Security Camera King, in fact they are one of the few vendors that lays their prices right out there for you (instead of this "fill out this form and request a quote") like many vendors do. I often wonder if they don't price systems that way based on what they think they can get versus what the should get. Anyway, getting back to my original thought, check what you need and then decide. Sometimes you may actually find that it would be best for you to purchase 2 Security Camera King 16 Camera Mini Economy Systems for example instead of a 32 channel Elite system. Anyway, focusing on this system the cameras are nice, basic cameras with a high resolution of 600 TVL. They also have an automatic infrared mode with their own built in infrared LEDs that give a range of about 50 feet in total darkness. They do not have an OSD or a varifocal lens, you'll have to upgrade your cameras if you are seeking those features. The DVR is outstanding. We use every bit of the resolution scheme. That is we record in CIF resolution at 30 frames per second and on channels 1, 9, 17, and 25 we take advantage of the ability to record in D1 resolution at 30 frames per second at the same time. (You can actually go to D1 on all 32 channels but you have to drop the frame rate to 7 frames per second then, which is pretty choppy.) We also use several of the display options including 3 different simultaneous monitors, HDMI, VGA, and BNC. I mean we really put a load on this unit and it handles it well. Check out all the features that come with it and you will be amazed. Also, this DVR comes with a 3 year full warranty so you have some extra "quality" assurance built right in!

This package combination is obviously for most commercial applications (I personally haven't installed any of these in a residential system but I suppose a home that is big enough that wants complete coverage could probably use a 32 channel system). All of my clients that I have installed the Security Camera King Complete 32 Channel Elite DVR Security Camera Package have been more than satisfied with the system. Some will order this system on line and then ask me to install it but for most, I show them your website and allow them to choose the type of system they want and then I tell them what to order (for example I almost always have them order the 3000' Siamese cable so I can cut the cables to proper lengths for the installs). The 600 TVL infrared cameras are nice and capture a nice high resolution video picture. Their infrared mode works fine and I see about a 50 foot range with the infrared in total darkness without additional illuminators. What really steals the show here is the Elite DVR. The many features and options of this DVR are what really allow you to custom fit an installation to the user. I usually don't have to worry about splitting cables because there are plenty of monitor outputs and if the customer wants an alarm system I can often combine that with the DVR install. Since I have had so many satisfied customers I believe I will go ahead and contact you about being a dealer.
Excellent Enterprise System, But Could Be For Small Businesses Too!

We really like this system, it is serving us well. One word about self installation before I begin my review. If you are going to install this system yourself, make sure you either have a partner with a two-way radio or a portable monitor so you don't have to run back and forth over 16 times (and possibly up and down a ladder, ceiling or roof) to adjust the cameras. Also, for Enterprise use, I found that the 100 foot plug and play cables weren't long enough for all of our cable runs so we purchased an extra box of Siamese cable and some connectors. As for the system, it does come with just about everything you need. The 32 Indoor/Outdoor Weatherproof High Resolution 600 TVL infrared vandal dome security cameras are light and easy to mount. The camera is "aimable" by turning the camera on its axis once it is mounted. The on board infrared LEDs give it about a 50 foot range of infrared video recording in total darkness. You can mount the cameras anywhere a set of screws will hold them. All the cameras have a fixed 3.6 mm overview shot lens. The DVR is Security Camera King's 32 channel Elite Series DVR. It records all 32 channels at 30 frames per second (real-time) at CIF or 352 X 240 pixels resolution display. In addition, 4 of the 32 channels, channels 1,9, 17, and 25 can record D1 resolution (4CIF) at the same rate. On the other hand, if D1 is a total priority, the DVR can still record that resolution on all channels but at a reduced frame rate of 7 frames per second (real choppy). The DVR also has alarm input and output capability, it can record 16 channels of audio if necessary and it is Internet ready for controlling the system and monitoring the cameras remotely from most any Internet capable device. This system doesn't have to be used by just large corporations, there is plenty of applications for this system in small businesses that are seeking thorough security camera surveillance coverage too!
Complete 32 Channel Elite DVR Security Camera Package is a Huge Money Saver!

Review by Jim Grabowski (Indiana) on Dec 29, 2012
The Security Camera King 32 Channel Elite package system is a huge money saver, especially if you install it yourself. Based on local companies' estimates I can't believe it but I saved myself close to $10,000 on the average by purchasing and installing this system myself. I can also say that this system is about as professional and high quality as you can get. The 600 TVL infrared vandal domes work well in day or night mode. The only negative aspect to these cameras is that if you are looking for a different camera (such as a varifocal lens or a different resolution) you'll need to go to the Custom Camera System page. In fact the upgrade button here defaults to taking you right there. Then you'll have to go through all 32 camera choices individually. I don't think enough can be said about the DVR. The 32 channel Elite DVR records all 32 channels simultaneously at CIF resolution and at 30 frames per second (or "realtime"). Actually, you can go as high as D1 on all 32 channels simultaneously at a reduced rate of 7 frames per second. The video recording is of excellent quality, there are no missed frames, and the picture is clear, sharp, and color correct. The DVR even has alarm system features for up to 16 trigger inputs and 6 different alarm outputs. Another feature of the DVR is the multiple video output options including HDMI, VGA, and BNC as well as video loop outs for spot monitors and video matrixing options. The DVR's OSD is fairly easy to navigate and it also comes with Internet capability to remotely access your system using a personal computer, MAC, smartphone, or iPad. If you need a 32 channel system and can install it yourself, I guarantee that this package will save you a boatload of money.
I really like this 32 camera/DVR combination complete system. However, if you are a do it yourselfer, TAKE NOTE: Do not try to install this system yourself unless you also purchase Security Camera King's VX-WLCDM 2.5 Inch LCD Service Monitor w/Wrist Strap, Tool-TP200 CCTV LCD Tester, Tool-TP250 CCTV Tester With 12V Power Output and Multi Meter, or you already own some sort of portable monitor. Unless you want to run up and down a ladder and back and forth from the camera to the DVR at least 64 times! Seriously, you will want to aim cameras and adjust them and professional installers normally have their own portable monitor so it's not an issue for them. But if you by a 32 camera system it is well worst the extra investment to purchase one of the above portable monitors. Besides that, the 32 Channel Elite DVR Security Camera Package is great! It's got everything you need to install a complete 32 camera system except the tools. The 600 TVL cameras have automatic infrared mode with a range of about 50 feet. The LEDs come on automatically as well. The cameras are all 3.6 mm overview lens cameras so if you need a tighter or zoom shot you may want to consider upgrading some cameras to a model with a varifocal lens. The DVR has plenty of processing power to record all channels in CIF resolution at 30 frames per second including recording 4 specific channels at D1 resolution at 30 fps. It can also playback 16 channels at one time. If you plan on running your system continuously purchase as much storage space as you can afford because even CIF resolution at 30 fps for 32 cameras can start to take up some hard drive space. Also, you'll love the remote Internet accessibility using a Smartphone, iPad or a computer. It's a good system and I recommend it.
