Complete 4 Channel HD-CVI Surveillance System
Review by Kerry Lace on Sep 24, 2014
This was an upgrade. Well it was more like a re-invention. I inherited my father's shop and he used a 4 camera system for protection. The old one was close to an antique I think. It was totally black and white, used a VTR (that would be a Video Tape Recorder for those who may not be familiar with the acronym) with a looping tape system, and was about as clear a recording as looking through someone else's glasses. This "upgrade" was remarkable in comparison. Cameras with a 720p resolution recording as well as the DVR to record is extremely detailed and clear in comparison. No interference or noise on the camera recordings, no "TV snow," and the best thing is that I used the same cables. I saved the cable to use for other purposes later on. What was even more surprising was the remote access I can obtain by using my iPhone. We never even heard of that with the old system. As a matter of fact, the video display on my iPhone was clearer than the display from the old system on the old monitor. I haven't had any problems with the upgrade and I am happy with Security Camera King's customer service.

This is a great use of technology. I purchased this system from Security Camera King with a small amount of hesitation because I truly wasn't familiar with this HD-CVI technology and didn't think the high definition 720p recordings would really be that good. I have to say that I was surprised! The quality of the 720p resolution recordings is amazing. If the cameras are placed (mounted) properly for orientation view, there is no way you can't achieve facial identification unless the individual is wearing a mask or has their face covered some how. The cameras were easy to mount and install. The entire installation didn't take that long, cabling being the biggest time consumer. The DVR comes with many options and runs quietly. I did call Security Camera King tech support once with a couple of questions. The answered quickly and were very nice about my inquiry.

After looking a package cameras at Costco, Sams, Best Buy, Micro Center we decided to purchase this system. Deciding factor was technical support as there were many reports of substandard support from the package vendors while support seemed to be much better here. As it was we never got to find out as the install out of the box was effortless. We installed and wired each camera, plugged in the DVD unit and plugged each camera in one at a time as instructed. Each camera self installed and immediately showed on the monitor. We then configured unit features using menus supplied. If items on menus are not self explanatory, use the website tutorial as there is no manual or detailed instructions supplied with your shipment. Good quality for the money.

I love it. Period. They can make 800TVL analog cameras all they want but until the analog camera can come up with a high definition display like my 720p recordings on this system, I'll stick with HD-CVI. The vides recorded by the way, are clear and fluid, identification of subjects isn't much of an issue and detail presentation is great. The technology in the video security camera industry is becoming so vast it's literally making purchases of these systems difficult, especially for common do it your self people like me. I know I could jump up in the high definition world to a 1080p system or even cameras with 3 megapixel capturing sensors, but I like the edge I get on the analog systems with my HD-CVI system and the high definition quality, while still maintaining what I would consider to be a relatively conservative price. Of course the added benefit to an HD-CVI system if you aren't already aware is the fact that you can broadcast video signals a longer distance than with stand video, if that is something you may be interested in. Ordering this system was easy, I did it right here. Shipping went well--got it in three days and not a thing was damaged. Installation was relatively easy with the exception of a couple challenges for routing the cables. The DVR took a little time to get used to the OSD Menu and navigating through the pages and knowing what the various settings meant (the instructions aren't that great." The overall experience I had with this system was excellent and I think others will feel the same.

This is a nice little package. These HD-CVI DVRs are pretty new in the video security business, although the HD-CVI technology has been aground for a while. The cameras produce a crisp, clear high definition video image and the action is smooth and very realistic (not choppy). I don't get a bit of interference or digital noise and I although I don't need it, I understand the range on these things is outrageous compared to regular video security systems or even HD-SDI systems. The DVR is a classic Security Camera King DVR, meaning that is has all the functions and features you would expect from a 4 channel system, including the On Screen Display (OSD) and the multiple user remote access use by using a network or the Internet. I've put two of these in so far. One was an upgrade to replace an old system, the other was a new install. Both went very easily and do a great job. I'd recommend this system anytime especially for small jobs. They are great for perimeter monitoring of homes, offices, etc. The support you'll get from Security Camera King, if you need it, is beyond any ordinary video security camera dealer support and their technicians are always willing and eager to help which makes the use of their equipment even more advantageous. I've been working using them for about 4 to 5 years now and I have no intentions of stopping.
