Complete 8 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System
Review by Norma Farley on Mar 31, 2014
At a price of a little less than $200 more than Security Camera King's Complete 8 Channel Elite Mini Economy Package System I think this Ultimate system is definitely worth it. One of the biggest reasons for me is the fact that it can record all 8 cameras simultaneously at a resolution of D1 at 30 frames per second. The 700TVL cameras are a perfect match for this allowing you to get the highest quality video image recorded at a frame rate that is fast enough to view the action in real-time, that is without hesitation or choppiness. Even though Security Camera King calls this their 8 channel "Mini" the DVR still has lots of features including 4 audio inputs, two way audio, multiple monitor displays, RS485 connection for PTZ camera control and even some alarm connections. I'm no CCTV expert, in fact I'm a do it your selfer and I did have some questions about my system after I received it. I contacted Security Camera King's technical support department and they were great! They helped me with every issue and thorough explained things that I asked about. If you are a do it your selfer and think that installing your own video security system is too difficult, think again. This company will definitely help you through it all the way and you'll save lots of money too.

It hard to find a high quality 8 channel complete system for less than $1000 these days but this one from Security camera King is a very good purchase as far as I am concerned. I did upgrade the cameras to 700TVL versions and beefed up the size of the internal hard drives and that was basically all I needed to complete my security system. This is a nice DVR that comes with the set. For a "mini" it still records all 8 cameras at D1 at real time and I am really impressed with how packed the On Screen Display (OSD) is with features.

Complete 8 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System - My Most Popular

I've been purchasing the majority of my equipment from Security Camera King now for about 5 years. I've never bothered to write a review until now and since I have written this one, I may continue with some other products I frequently use as well. This industry has seen dramatic changes with the increase in technological changes and I must admit, Security Camera King has done a good job of keeping up with those changes even with the package system prices that they offer today. I can remember when a 700TVL camera was almost unheard of the basic or standard camera was the 420TVL camera. And speaking of standard, this system has been one of my most popular sellers; it seems to be the standard 8 channel system I go to when my customers want an 8 channel system but don't need a lot of extra features. Since the system does record realtime D1 I usually recommend they upgrade to the 700TVL cameras to get the most out of the system. The cameras work amazingly well for standard "basic type" cameras and the DVR is superlative. I have never received a "bad" shipment nor had any problems with the equipment. The support department is great as well. I would and do highly recommend this system.

"Thanks" to Security Camera King and your Technical Support Department. By purchasing your "Complete 8 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System" and installing it ourselves we were actually able to save a couple thousand dollars for my company. We placed our order on line and we received it in two days! Excellent quick response for shipping and everything was in perfect order. This 8 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System fits our needs perfectly as we do need all 8 cameras but we do not need a lot of the extra features that come with your more advanced DVRs. We did upgrade our cameras to 700TVL models though as we figured if we were going to record in D1 we might as well use the highest resolution camera available too. I had a couple of questions about my installation and the configuration of the DVR so I contacted your support department and they were great. They answered my questions and were professional and courteous. We'll be recommending you to others.

This Security Camera King package is the "honey pot" of all 8 channel DVR based "mini" (and as far as I am concerned "economy") video security and surveillance camera systems. If there were more than 5 stars, I rate it higher. I really can't say enough good tings about it but I will try to keep from going on and on. I've been dealing with Security Camera King for several years now, and I have been purchasing and installing these packages systems for quite a while. My customers love them. They offer the quality performance of the full size DVR with an 8 channel video recording resolution/rate of D1 at 30 frames per second, and the video is very clear, color correct, and accurate. If it were me purchasing this system, I wouldn't mess around and would automatically upgrade the cameras to one of the 700TVL resolution models. I recommend this to all of my clients and very few haven't done it. The remote access function of the DVR works without a glitch. My commercial and residential customers alike LOVE the remote access option, and especially for residential use, I'd be willing to bet they use that to monitor their systems more so than a full time monitor display. For a "mini" I still consider this system "loaded" with features. Because it is a "mini" there may not be a tremendous amount of internal case space for extra internal hard disk drives or an internal DVD burner, but if you really need that and don't want to go with the full size Ultimate unit, there are workarounds that are available such as USB peripheral device use. It's an all around nice system.

I consider this the basic "go to" system for my customers, residential and commercial alike. It's a good solid, sound system that does a very good job of recording color or black and white video clearly and accurately. The system comes with 600TVL basic 3.6mm wide angle lens cameras that have about a 50 foot infrared range in total darkness and no On Screen Display. I always suggest upgrading the cameras to my customers because I figure that you might as well go with a 700TVL camera if you can afford it. If they really need the varifocal units I'll recommend them as well. Since these cameras have no OSD, everything they do is basically "automatic" but the cameras are manufactured with a good electronic design that they still provide a good video picture and do a pretty good job handling different lighting situations.

This Security Camera King Ultimate DVR is astounding for the size and price. It does an excellent job recording D1 resolution video at 30 frames per second on all 8 channels continuously if necessary. It's loaded with all types of useful features, even for a "mini," and even though it is not large enough to hold extra internal hard disk drives or an internal DVD burner it still offers many options for backup and storage. I've never had a unit fail, nor have I ever encountered crashes, dropped frames, lost sound, or anything else. Security Camera King also has one of the best, if not THE best technical support staffs around for security video cameras vendors. Most of their support people are installers as well so they not only know the product but are aware of many of the common everyday "obstacles" that can be encountered when installing or stetting up a system. They treat professional CCTV installers and amateur do it your self installers alike, with respect, friendliness, and professionalism. I can't say I "would" recommend this system because I DO recommend this system.

I use this unit in my store for merchandise and transaction coverage and it works great. The D1 resolution at 30 fps really give some good detail with normal, smooth motion unlike those jerky, blurry videos you often see in news reports and other places on TV. I did choose to upgrade my cameras to the 700TVL 2.8 - 12 mm varifocal domes with the 100 foot infrared range. The clarity is amazing and I have two outdoor cameras mounted at each front and rear door and the infrared range is unbelievable. In fact, the infra red mode works so well that I actually can record bugs flying around at night!

I use a couple of microphones at the checkout counters. I've never had experience with legal cases involving theft with the store (and I hope that continues) and I'm certainly not a lawyer but I figured with the D1 resolution AND the audio, it should be a good basis for legal evidence if it is ever needed. I imagine like I have read from many of your customers, one of the biggest alluring features of your system is the ability to remotely access it from an Internet connection. I do have an Android smartphone and I really didn't think I would use it at first so I didn't even bother to download the app. However, one day when things were a little slow, I installed it and set it up in my phone and like the others, I have to admit, that's probably the most frequent method I use now for accessing my system. I love the freedom it gives me for being away from the system and still be able to check in on things. Better yet, when the store is closed the email notification system is great to alert me to potential vandals/trespassers.

Complete 8 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System--Very Nice!

Review by Ken Post on May 28, 2013
I place my order on line and received the entire system package in about three days. Like many do it yourselfers have said, the cameras went up quick and easy, just a little effort aiming and fine tune adjusting them but the major task was running the cables and figuring out exactly where I wanted to put my DVR. After I settled those issues, everything else was pretty much down hill. The DVR has an operating system but thankfully its not nearly as complicated as learning a regular personal computer operating system. It's basically following menus and clicking on options so the On Screen Display is pretty intuitive. It just takes a little bit of using to become familiar with it, but by the time you have completely set up all 8 cameras you won't have any problems. The cameras work well although in this day and age since resolution just seems to keep going up, up, and up, I'm surprised that Security Camera King doesn't offer this system as standard with 700TVL cameras, especially since it records in D1. There are plenty of video out put/display options though; actually more than what I anticipated. The DVR menu itself also has a lot of great features that make specialty situations with cameras and recordings easy to deal with. Disk space isn't a problem for me and I like the Internet remote access and e-mail notifications. (Although, I would recommend that you thoroughly test out your e-mail notifications before leaving your system--this is the voice of experience talking. I set mine up incorrectly and ended up getting about 92 emails at work...lol). Which is a good segue to Security Camera King's support department. I did contact them with some questions and they were 100% professional and helpful all the way. If I need anymore security camera equipment, this is where I'll come to get it.

I've been dealing with Security Camera King for about 4 years now and I have never had any problems with their products and my customers are satisfied with them as well. That includes this Complete 8 Channel Ultimate Mini system. I often recommend this system to my commercial customers that have no idea of what brand they would like and that don't require long term storage of data or a DVD burner. This system gives them the great quality of the Techvision DVR Ultimate series but at the same time makes the purchase price economical enough so that even small businesses can afford them. And let's not leave out my residential customers too, besides the Elite Mini 8 Channel, if they prefer an 8 Channel D1 real time resolution system, this is usually their "go to." I'm writing this review under this particular system but I also have to add that many times we go to the custom design ordering page because the customer may want/need a special camera, cable, etc. This Mini Ultimate still offers the customer all of the basics of the regular Ultimate DVR system without the large size of the DVR which means reduced internal storage hard drive capacity and no DVD burner. However, many customers don't use continuous recording but make use of motion detect recording and don't require a tremendous amount of storage space anyway. Even though this Ultimate is a "Mini" version you still get audio input and output features, alarm input and output features, and HDMI, VGA, and BNC simultaneous main monitor display options. The unit's case may be small but you can still store up to 8 Terabytes of video data internally. I have had reports of malfunctions, crashes, or other difficulties with these systems and some are almost 3 years old now. I would and do recommend this system and will continue to do so.
