There are 4 reader ports to connect up to 4 Smart Card Readers (34 bit Wiegand) or Standard Proximity Readers (26 bit Wiegand). Smart Cards are Proximity cards that can hold data such as food debit information that can be programmed in.
This unit can be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet 30w per port) or with the supplied 12v DC power supply. In fact we have configured the Access Control Board with the power supply in a Nema Box with an optional back up battery(sold separately).
There are 8 Relay outputs to handle your door strikes or Mag Locks and devices such as sirens, alarms or strobes.
There are also 8 inputs to handle items such as exit buttons and door sensors.
There are 2 amazing security features that come installed in the embedded software: Anti-Passback and Duress Modes. Anti-Passback can be explained in this example. Imagine if someone swipes their card at the reader and then holds the door open for a couple of people. Those people did not swipe their cards (if they had them) and there would be no record of their entrance. When those extra people try to leave, the system will cause an alarm to go off, since they never scanned in. Anti-Passback only works when there is a reader on each side of the door.
Duress Mode will set off an alarm to the security room when someone swipes their card and presses a specific number on the keypad. One example is when someone thinks they are being stalked, he/she can be rest-assured that help will be on the way after they get to the keypad.
