Passive Video Balun
Review by Mike Ardillo on Sep 02, 2013
You've got to have something to make the conversion from BNC to CAT5 and this balun is an expensive yet reliable connector for the job. Works good!

Works just fine. It's not like this is an option; if you are going to run a BNC connection on a CAT5 Ethernet cable you are going to need these so make sure you have enough.

Works just fine! Geez, I would think that with all the CAT 5 cable being run these days, these things should be selling like hotcakes!

I had two long runs out of a 16 channel install. I bought four of these and put one on each end of the CAT5 I used for the two long runs, everything worked great!

These work great! This is a great way to convert your BNC to a CAT5 quality UTP cable. 1) I think the UTP is easier to work with than regular video cable, and 2) UTP wire is definitely cheaper than RG59 coaxial video cable for example. The balun works not only as a good cable converter but helps to filter out any interference you might otherwise catch too.

Kind of silly to write a review of such a small order, but all was well, no issues at all.

I'm glad someone invented these

I work as an IT person for a fairly big company. We have a training room with an overhead LCD projector. Recently, my supervisor wanted to run a monitor line to the projector located in the center of the room, about 15 feet in the air. Since the area was already pre-wired with CAT5 I decided to give a couple of these baluns a try. They work great! (You should have seen the look on his face when it only took me a few minutes to plug one into the DVR output and the other to the projector!)

We recently moved our retail store to a larger facility that was once used as a telemarketing business office. Cat 5 Ethernet cable is all over for each of the previous telemarketer's computers. When I installed our new system, all we did was attach these Baluns and we didn't have to run cable to any of our 8 cameras. Thanks to your on-line support--I never new these things existed until they suggested them.
