I am trying to find out what I can do for the following:

8 channel mini DVR only 7 months old stopped booting

tried to troubleshoot by unplugging HDD, still no boot

Removed HD and tried to put it as slave in windows, but windows only sees as a blank HDD

Horrible timing, had a weekend alarm and wanted to view the recordings.  Is there anyway to access this HDD using a windows machine?

This unit was supposed to have warranty, how do I claim warranty or just order a new motherboard?

Hi,

you could see the content of the the drive by using an external HDD enclose and using this software:  Download

Assuming that you didn't format the drive when you connected directly to a windows machine then this tool should be able to find any content if there was anything stored.

For the warranty, if the unit was purchased 7 months ago then you definitely still under warranty. Please go to this link Contact Us  to submit a ticket so we can process as an RMA. Try to fill up as much information as possible. Unfortunately the unit will need to be sent for repair/replace to our facility.

Thanks

OK, I have the disc running and I see it in disc management, but the Disc copy utility you gave me above doesn't see it, nothing in the Disk Name dropdown.  I didn't format the disk, but windows did "initialize" it (2 seconds)... I'm guessing that messed up the MBR or partition record.  What is the original partition format, maybe a data recovery software could help me?

Hi,

All we know is that it uses a Linux partition but it could be something proprietary. We don't know exactly what kind.

So I ran a data recovery tool and it found 5 folders in a lost partition, one of which was "MPG" and there are about 400gb worth of MPG files, however windows media player won't play them, any suggestion on what will?

Yeah, Media player cannot play DAV files. Click here  Download to get the DAV player then you could convert them.

Thanks
