Yes I finally did try your suggestion. I unplugged all 7 ip cams from NVR poe's. Then defaulted the whole NVR. (you are given choices on how much to default) The reboot time took a whole 5 minutes which made me nervous looking at a light blue screen. Just give it time. Now I am putting each ip cam in the POE's in the order I want and that locks them in the view and port that I desire. Remember one camera at a time, let the camera appear, click apply, click save, then put the next camera in the next port. Viola!

Thanks again

Do not refresh.  Try manually adding them if they have static IPs.  NVRs with built in POEs try to be plug and play, but since you want to control it, manually add IPs and CHOOSE the channel that you want.

We may need to log in to a PC on the same network and telnet the unit.

If you want to have a specific view while using the built in POE, instead of adding them manually it is now, leave them on the channel that they are plugged into and create a tour under display and create the custom view that your customer wants. That way they are happy with the view they want and you no longer have the duplicating issue!

I have tried to get rid of duplicate cameras and change the camera order to no avail. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE DUPLICATE CAMERAS AND THE ORDER YOU WANT IS TO UNPLUG ALL CAMERAS. DEFAULT THE WHOLE SYSTEM. DEFAULT THE WHOLE SYSTEM NOT JUST PART OF IT BECAUSE THERE IS RESIDUE MEMORY, I TRIED IT. DEFAULT THE WHOLE NVR. The plug cameras in one at a time and click apply and save and repeat with all cameras in the order that you want. I find this to be difficult but it's the only solution. Making a tour or some other run around is not wanted and seems a waste. But once it's done for all cameras then you never have to do it again until you want to change the order.

My system is up and running just the way I want it. It was a lot of work. Well not work just time spent that should not have been necessary.

Jerry,

There are more issues with the cameras jumping around when they are set to DHCP.  I have found that setting them to static IP addresses, and manually adding, helps prevent the behavior that you are describing.

Thanks Jeff

I left the cameras on whichever setting they come. I believe it's dhcp. I never gave them an IP I let the NVR issue those. My situation is fine now after defaulting whole NVR. But I wished when I deleted a cam from REMOTE PAGE it would stay deleted. It seemed so close to what I wanted. But then the cam would reappear in the wrong spot. After defaulting I never selected DEVICE SEARCH. I let the NVR issue ip addresses in the 10.xxxxxxxx range. I admit I don't know everything about the rock solid Linux software but I am learning.

Thanks again for your help. You guys have helped me since January and here it is May and this NVR is finished. Visitors are astounded at the high quality resolution.

If you dont already have an external power supply, pick one up with your next order so you can change IP addresses from your main network prior to plugging it into your built in POE switch.  I would love to show you how easy it is from remote assistance, and then we can take control of the numbering scheme so the NVR does not move them around on you.

Of course if you have an external POE switch laying around, that would be useful for setting up cameras as well.
