I had everything set up and working fine with remote viewing. Now, when I play back it is very slow, even when I fast forward. This happens on both Ipad app and android app. I didn't change any settings prior to this. Live preview seems to be ok. Happens on all channels.

Can you verify that the issue happens on the wifi of the same network of the DVR, or remotely through the internet?  Are you playing back the extra stream or the full stream?

I'm not able to try the home wifi network. I'm 750 miles away. Playback is main stream. Live view is extra stream.

Smart phones are designed to play back the extra stream.  In order to have that function, you need to RECORD the extra stream.  The Record section is in Advanced in the old menu, and in Storage in the new menu.  Enable Extra Stream recording of all channels that you want to access playback.

The issue is that your are trying to stream very large files through the internet.  The file sizes we are talking about it is xGBs for each file.

I under stand the concept of kb streaming, but I have the same issue, live preview streams fine, but video playback struggles, I have two holiday homes with the same 8ch NVR’s, one works fine on main stream, other I changed to extra stream but still playbacks 1 second every 4 seconds?? Can it be something else? It can’t be signal as I tested both houses with 65-70% 3G mobile. They are standing next to each other, so it can’t be tower either

Is not about the Cell Signal but about the bandwidth you have available, You are uploading from that site and downloading on your current location. This means that your Upload speed will need to match the streams you are pulling. Example:  at extra-Stream its 704 x480 and 1 camera would be 591.43 Kbps you can only use 80% of the speed that you have available. So a cell connection for this 1 stream would be 709.716 kBps If you are trying to pull more than one that doubles in size.
