Is it possible to have a second hard drive, installed, hard wired remotely, set for a mirror image of the internal one. This is of cause to counter act the theft of the whole DVR. I would prefer to have a continuous feed instead of a periodic back up.

The only way will be if your device supports eSata port. If it doesn't then is not possible.

This is a possible future installation, which 8 ch. unit would you recommend to start.

Good morning toscheck, the only 8 channel with the esata feature is this unit http://www.securitycameraking......-prd1.html
If your looking to purchase any other unit then when researching on our website just look for DVR/NVR that have the Esata port.
