I believe the during remote connection setup using my android phone, telnet was somehow involved in the process.  I have been informed that this is not a encrypted communication and that I will have to secure my system.  Any suggestions as to how I do this.  One item was ssh and on line I have seen PuTTy, but how do I set this up on the dvr and cell phone? comments please

Definitely telnet is not involved in the process connection to your DVR from your phone. Telnet is used to do some root level changes to the unit and it requires a special username and password that is not the regular usernames and password the unit come with. In fact telnet does not uses the same port as the phone. We cannot provide the username and password to telnet to the unit due to the fact that if a bad command is input to the CLI you could disrupt the DVRs fictionality.
