Hi all. I’m having trouble viewing my IP cameras remotely. They work fine inside my network but usually time out when I try to view them remotely. My ISP uplink speed is max 7.5 Mbps and I have 6 cameras. I can go to 10 Mbps uplink speed but I’d like to confirm that’s the problem. Can anyone tell me the best/cheapest way to confirm where the bottle neck is? Also, would 10 Mbps even be enough? I’ve read I need 4 Mbps per camera so that sounds like I’d need 50 Mbps. Thanks!

I need more information. Have you opened the ports to the recorder for remote viewing? What are the models of the cameras and recorder?

I don’t have a recorder on my system. The cameras are different brands: three TRENDnets (TV-IP311, TV-IP302PI, TV-IP672), a Wansview NC541, and two SV3C 1080P POE. Thanks.

One more thing in case it helps… I’m using the IPCamViewer app on my iPad and iPhone. I can usually see the images from all six cameras in the multi camera view but when I select one camera from that view, that’s when I time out. I get the message “Camera not available”.

Unfortunately, we do not carry these brands. Possibly a member of our Forum can assist you with your issue. I know that trendnet has their own mobile app, If you are trying to consolidate all of your cameras onto one application it will be a tricky task as many cameras have their own proprietary software, I suggest a recorder that has all of the cameras connected to it and then you would use the application for the recorder such as our Elite or Sibell Recorder they both have their own application and are able to handle third-party cameras that are Onvif Compliant. Ver. 2.3 or greater)
