I'm new to this CCTV and I had a few questions that I needed some clarification on, I read the manual but I couldn't find the answers and searched around a bit on the forum.

NVR: 16 Channel 4K NVR w/ 16 POE (Model # Product# NVR-ELE16C-P4K)

Cameras:

  • 3MP IP Network Motorized Varifocal IR Bullet Camera (Product# IPOB-EL3IR100ML-D2)
  • 3MP IP Network Motorized Varifocal Vandel Dome Security Camera (Product# IPVD-EL3MP100ML2812)
  1. Motion Icon - I have my NVR setup to record all the time + motion on all 6 cameras. Is there a setting for the motion running men in red to appear when recording or does it do it automatically?  I only have 1 camera currently showing this if there is motion and marking the timeline in yellow during playback.
  2. HDMI - screen 2 - I want to run an HDMI cable from the room with the NVR & TV to the living room.  I enabled the HDMI 2 function on the NVR, so I have two options: (16 + 4) or (9 + 9).  I set it to 9+9, but when I switch the input on the TV (both inputs are on the same TV until I run the wire to the TV in the living room) it only shows me 1 camera on the HDMI 2 input from the NVR.  Also would you be able to still control it or is it for just viewing purposes on the second monitor?  i.e. Is what you do on the first monitor reflected on the second?
  3. Camera Setup - I plugged in my cameras 1-6 on the back of the NVR, but the cameras are not in the same order when viewing.  Is there a way to change this so I don't have to manually move the images around when viewing with the mouse?  I tried shutting down and restarting the NVR, but it gives me the same results.
  4. Harddrive - if you set your harddrive to "never delete old files" does it still delete the oldest ones so that today's video is recording?  I have since changed mine to delete from "x" number of days ago.  Also is it ok if the harddrive space is used up and shows 0?

Thanks for your help.

  1. The red 'running man' icon should show up automatically when motion detection occurs. Check Under Main Menu>Event>Video Detect = Make sure Motion is 'Enabled' and you have a 'Region' set up. On that page, also check 'Record Channel' On channel 1 you want only 1 in Record Channel - On channel 2 you want 'Record Channel' 2 - I say this because of the 'Copy' button on that page - it is very easy to set all channels to trigger recording only on channel 1, so check the 'Record Channel' setting on all channels.

2. HDMI #2 is a 'Spot Monitor' only. You should have a setting under 'System' for 'Matrix' This is where you set up HDMI #2. Is is completely independent of HDMI #1.

3.Camera Setup - I plugged in my cameras 1-6 on the back of the NVR, but the cameras are not in the same order when viewing.  Is there a way to change this so I don't have to manually move the images around when viewing with the mouse?  I tried shutting down and restarting the NVR, but it gives me the same results.

3. The camera view on the Main View screen is determined by the list of devices under 'Camera>Remote' in the 'Added Devices' list on the bottom of the page. Device 1 will be in position 1, Device 2 will be in position 2 etc. The order of this list determines the default order on the Main View screen. You can set the order temporarily by just left click and drag on the Main View screen - cameras will swap positions - but this defaults to normal if you switch layouts or the DVR reboots.

4.Harddrive - if you set your harddrive to "never delete old files" does it still delete the oldest ones so that today's video is recording?  I have since changed mine to delete from "x" number of days ago.  Also is it ok if the harddrive space is used up and shows 0?

4. The hard drive should be left at 'Never Delete Old Files'  The only place you should see that setting is under 'System>Auto Maintain' It is a switch for the Auto Reboot function where you can set the DVR to delete old files when it reboots. This is not usually a necessary function unless you want all files past a certain time to be deleted for security reasons (if you were required to delete video that is more than x number of days old)- the DVR will still auto delete the oldest files to make room for new data. The hard drive should always show 0 free space once it has filled up, this is normal condition.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks for your help.
