Is it safe to connect a computer or laptop directly to a POE port on an NVR or POE switch?  It would be nice to be able to do this in order to configure the cameras directly without having to disconnect them.  I hesitate to do this though since I don't want to push voltage to my laptop LAN port potentially damaging my laptop.

Yes, it is safe. The POE is Smart therefore the poe will get deactivated if the device is not POE.

Thanks
