Model # NVR-ELT-4
Software: SmartPSS 1.10.1

At random times, remote users connecting to this NVR over the network using the SmartPSS software client will get a message saying "Search stream timeout" and they can not get any video to display. Rebooting the NVR seems to solve the problem sometimes, but not always - we occasionally just have to wait a while and then it suddenly starts working again.

I'm wondering if this would be a bug in the NVR firmware or SmartPSS software, or is a network-related issue? Perhaps this happens if we have too many users trying to access the NVR all at once via the SmartPSS software?

If you have any insight into this problem, please let us know. Thanks.

Hi Michael,

Bandwith would be the first thing I would look into. If they are outside of the network you would be utilizing the upload speeds, please refer to your ISP to see how much bandwith you have on your upload side . Internal bandwith could cause the very same issue.

Could you describe the Network at that location.

Hi Jose,

The cameras and NVR are on a gigabit network locally so I don't think bandwidth would be an issue there. The WAN connection to remote users has 5 Mbps up & down which I would think should be enough. It should be noted that remote users are accessing the substream which I have set very low (~128 Kbps). So the WAN connection should definitely be able to handle that.

Could overheating be causing this? I know this NVR is in an enclosed cabinet to help reduce exposure to dust (it's in a manufacturing plant). Thanks.

When you say an enclosure are you utilizing one of our Lock Boxes. If not ensure there is proper ventilation and if its in a location where dust or other particles would be airborne utilize a filter on the enclosures fan inlet.
