i have a Smart Tv with apps like Netflix, Google, Amazon, etc. It is wifi enabled and I was wondering if there was some way I could monitor my ip cams on it. I know if I used a Mac Mini it would be possible, but without a computer?

It might be possible. I am not sure what browser the TV is using. Also, it depends what IP cameras or NVR you are using.

Smart TV's use a basic browser that does not support Active X controls, you might be able to connect directly to an EL series IP camera but I have yet to see a Smart TV that will allow this. I have tested this in many LG, Samsung and Sony Smart TV's the only solution is to get an Android device such as the OUYA [Only after rooting the Ouya and installing Google Play] or an android stream stick that has Google play on it, once you have these devices you will need to use the TechproSS Android app to view your cameras.

The other option is to run a cable [HDMI,VGA,Coaxial with RCA connector] from the recorder to the TV set. Or try this Article here that I wrote not to long ago.

*Note: A Google TV device or TV runs android. You might be able to just install the app. If it does not simply get a developers account with them and push the app in Development mode.

Here is another article similar to this topic.

Vizio has a device called COstar that I have used for some of my projects that can also be used with the Android TechProSS App.

Thanks again, Jose . I think you have covered all the bases. The problem with the CoStar by Vizio is it is expensive and from what I have been able to glean on Amazon, pretty poorly received. Too bad it isn't as good as Vizio TV's. I've been hearing good things about the Amazon Fire TV and might give that box a try. My buddy has one and is running xbmc on it as well. Thanks again for the help.

Best,

Tom
