Why PSS won't accept symbols for the password

I set an admin password with a symbol in it and the PSS software won't take it.  It wasn't letting me login and then I noticed that as I typed the password it wouldn't take the symbol when I came to it.  Why would this be?  Should I stay away from symbols in my passwords?

Yes,  much like the mobile apps, PSS only accepts 8 characters and definitely stay away from special characters on any accounts that you want to use remote viewing with.  You can always keep the main account with that type of password and create another account for your remote viewing.
