First thing noticed is that this camera weighs at least twice of any camera of this type I've purchased. The quality of picture is WOW !!!! The customer support is the best I have ever encountered. Matt and Daniel are the best. IMHO . If you need high quality products and customer service this is it.
This is an incredible electronic camera! Although it is a bit pricey, this camera is really a DVR (or NVR) and camera in one. Besides that, the picture is so clear, detailed, and sharp that there is absolutely no problem whatsoever in being able to pick out small details. Identifying individuals faces isn't even an issue with this camera the detail is so great. We use this camera for security but also as a documentation device to determine who comes and goes in our facility. In addition to a security key card entry, this camera is used to monitor the actual individual at the time of entry and exit so we are using this camera at a full 3 megapixels at a 15 frames per second recording rate. That is plenty fast enough to capture what we need and the resolution of the picture is unbelievable. The camera has all kinds of different features and options, many of which I don't even know how to use yet. I can't even begin to think that someone wouldn't be satisfied with its performance or with what it can do. Hook up was and mounting was fairly easy as we already have an IP network security system; basically all I had to do was add this camera to it. I should mention that the camera has a 4.5 to 10mm auto iris varifocal lens so in addition to the great detail available, there is even the option for framing the shot or getting in a little zooming. We like it a lot and I would recommend it to others.
I read all the reviews for this camera, did a lot of on-line shopping (looking at other websites/models), and finally concluded that I would purchase this camera from Security Camera King. You can certainly find 3 megapixel IR dome cameras that are less expensive than this, but one thing that was a little different is the claim that Security Camera King makes that this is "vandal resistant." The camera is very robust and has a heavy polycarbonate dome cover. There are three exposed screws but they are Allen screws and are recessed. Other less expensive cameras were not nearly as robust and both their cases and dome covers seemed much thinner in construction. When I ordered this camera I received it in about three days as soon as I placed the order; I was impressed with the quick shipping speed and the camera was firmly and safely packed. This camera by the way, is more like a small combination DVR (or perhaps more correctly put, NVR) and camera. It processes the video right at the camera so there are many ways to use it. It is incredibly versatile in this manner. You can use it with an NVR, a hybrid DVR/NVR, or even record it over the Internet (or network) to a personal computer. In addition, the camera accepts a Micro SD card (up to 32 gigs) so you can record locally directly to the camera without hooking it up to anything. Also, if you want to record the super high resolution of 3 megapixels at 15 frames per second, you can do so onto the Micro SD card and still connect your regular DVR to its BNC connection to use as a monitor. The camera also has audio inputs/outputs, alarms, and can be powered with a regular power supply (12VDC or 24 VAC) or even over the Ethernet (POE) if you have a network power supply switch. The camera produces a fantastic video recording and the detail is simply amazing. Don't worry, the color is spot on and even the black and white infrared mode is sharp, clear, and incredibly detailed. The 4.5 - 10mm varifocal lens helps give you some ability to zoom and definitely narrow up your shot if you like. I have had no problem with my camera and am considering the purchase of another one soon. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a good, solid, high quality IP megapixel dome and I'm certain you won't be disappointed.
I've rated this camera at five stars and I have to tell you I don't hand out top ratings very often (if seldom) but I really can't find much of anything to complain about on this camera and everything that it has got as far as features and options works remarkably well. About the only thing I could really mention that might be considered on the down side is the camera's cable pigtail. If you are a do it yourselfer, there are enough connections on the end of this cable that you may need a road map to figure them all out. However, this camera delivers an excellent, and I mean EXCELLENT, color video! It has a 4.5 mm - 10 mm varifocal lens that helps increase the quality of the video even more. If you look at a megapixel camera with a standard fixed 3.6 mm wide angle lens, it is impressive enough already with the amount of detail you can still see in the wide angle shot due to the extremely high resolution capture. But if you add the ability to zoom, if to a focal length of even just 10mm, the picture now becomes exceptional. This camera is more like a mini DVR/camera combo than a camera because of all the options is makes available and the way it processes the video data. You can record it using a personal computer, a network video recorder, a hybrid digital video recorder/network video recorder, and you can even record the 3 megapixel resolution at 15 frames per second to an on board SD card (32 gig maximum). Actually, you can even connect it to a DVR. Use the DVR to monitor the camera and still record the ultra high 3 megapixel resolution to an SD card. The pigtail is so large because of all the various features it offers (you need to have connections for these things somewhere I guess). It even has a system reset button on the cable end so if you want to reset the camera to all of its factory default settings and start over when setting it up or adjusting it you can. I could go on and on about all the features of this camera, but I think you get the "picture." I am very satisfied with it and I think you will be too.
Excellent camera. The 4.5 - 10mm lens is a big plus. The video created by this camera is as good of quality as I have seen anywhere from a security camera. Without going into all the details about the camera, I'll just say that it is worth the price and I don't think it will disappoint you.
Let me say right from the beginning of my review that I don't thin you will find another vandal dome camera that can beet the quality of this Security Camera King 3 megapixel IR vandal dome IP camera. You have several options for resolution and recording settings on this camera, depending upon which you are the most comfortable with. For example you can record at 3 megapixel resolution at 15 frames per second. However, if you are one of those security camera people that are hard and fast on wanting to record in real time (30 frames per second) then you can still do so at 2 megapixels (or 1080p) resolution. Of course you can choose even smaller resolutions than that all the way down to VGA (640 X 480) but that would probably defeat the purpose of having a megapixel camera in the first place. The camera offers a ton of options. For example you can record to an NVR, a hybrid DVR/NVR, a DVR, or even to itself by using a Micro SD card that is fitted on board (maximum 32 gigs). The camera has audio inputs and outputs, alarms, a BNC connector (you can monitor with a DVR via BNC while recording in high resolution to the micro SD), and a standard Ethernet RJ45 connector. There's also a power connector our you can use Power Over the Ethernet (POE). The cable terminations include a master rest button if you need to reset all the setting to the factory default when you are setting up your system. In addition to the electronic features, the camera has a 4.5 to 10mm auto iris varifocal lens. So you can go fairly wide at 4.5mm to a zoom at 10mm. They also manage to find a way to stuff 35 infrared LEDs around the lens to give the camera an infrared range in total darkness at about 50 to 60 feet. I know we love our camera and I think you will too.

I recently did an install for one our local mine's newly built Credit Unions. They demanded the best so everything was completely network and megapixel. No analog cameras or DVRs. Since the Credit Union is attached to the business headquarters we could provide the Credit Union with its own security camera and surveillance system but also make it available for specific executives next door. Something that was easy to do with remote access features that go along with a network system. In addition, the system provides the highest resolution system for extremely accurate identification and surveillance. That system included three of these cameras. A big plus for this camera is the 4.5 to 10mm varifocal lens; in this case a fixed 3.6mm lens just wouldn't do. Like most of my jobs, mounting the camera was probably the easiest thing to do. Since we are totally network here we have a network switch so we use PoE. That made cabling easy too, just one CAT5E cable to run. Getting the camera set up on the network took a little more work but if you have the experience it really isn't difficult. One of our guys contacted Security Camera King's support staff for help and he said they were excellent, so I would assume they would be able to help even the DIYer to do an install too. These cameras are actually installed outside and do an excellent job. Somehow, for a dome , they even find room for a built in heater and fan. These cameras are currently recording at 1080p (2 megapixels) at 30 frames per second and are doing an excellent job. They are dual stream capable and send a monitoring feed out of D1 resolution at 30 frames per second. The color reproduction is good and the detail in the video is outstanding. They also have audio inputs and outputs and can be used in standalone mode with a 32 gig card. The customer was genuinely pleased with the system, and that included these cameras as well. I don't think you would be disappointed either.
The options and features on this camera seem limitless. Don't look at the camera cable's pigtail, it will scare you! Sometimes I think this camera has more connections than computer and more electronic features than one too! Not to mention that it delivers one of THE BEST all time high resolution video pictures I have ever seen (I've been installing CCTV cameras for about 18 years now). Straight up, you get 3 megapixel resolution with a frame rate of 15 frames per second. If you are a "die-hard real-timer" and want 30 frames per second, it still records at a resolution of 2 megapixels or 1080p! Let's not forget that during all of this it is still capable of sending a second stream just for monitoring as large as D1 at 30 frames per second. (You have to admit, that's pretty impressive when this camera can submit a "lower" sub-stream just for monitoring that is larger than many full size analog recorders!) But that's just the beginning. This camera can record to a Network Video Recorder (NVR), a hybrid DVR/NVR, a personal computer, or even separately from all of those to an on board 32 gig maximum SD card. Or you can monitor it with your DVR (BNC connection) and record it at the same time when a trigger event occurs at 3 megapixels to the 32 gig SD card. It also has connections for audio input and output, alarms, and master reset button in case YOU get confused...lol. The 4.5 to 10 mm varifocal lens give it even more versatility and the ability to get just the right shot. It probably doesn't surprise you at this point that it can be powered three different ways, 12 VDC, 24VAC, or POE. The picture is truly outstanding, the colors are not dull nor too brightly overdone, and the it even looks good on my iPhone! Yup, it's the Queen Mary, the Mother, of all dome cameras. :)
If the following review sounds partial, I am. I really like this camera. First, you must realized that when you purchase a security camera of the same caliber as Security Camera King's 3 Megpaixel IR Vandal Dome IP Security Camera you're really purchasing a combination camera and recorder in one. It's like a camera that comes with it's own NVR or DVR. That being said, you can just imagine the potential for a camera like this. The big question from everyone is "how does it record or monitor in regard to quality?" The quality of the shot is impeccable, but verbally describing it doesn't really do it justice. Sure, the video recording is extremely high definition, sharp, great color, etc. but you almost need to see it to believe it. And if you want to see a real shocker, watch a recorded video of an analog camera side by side with a 3 megapixel camera and you'll be amazed! I'm not sure that there is any one thing that makes this camera special. Rather, it has a collection of features and options that put it at the top for me. Physically (as opposed to electronically) speaking, the camera comes with a 4.5 - 10 mm varifocal auto iris lens. You won't get good zoomed shots of the moon with this but you certainly will be able to tighten your shot to focus on your main viewing area a lot easier than you would with a 3.6 mm wide angle lens. Speaking of focus, the camera has two screws, inside the case, connected to the camera body that are used for adjusting the focus and zoom of the lens. Further, the camera can be aimed or positioned in just about any direction. The camera comes with a video cable and pigtail to accommodate just about everything but washing the dishes. It has an RJ45 Ethernet jack (expected), a BNC connector for hook up to a DVR instead of an NVR, microphone in and audio out RCA connectors, inputs and outputs for an RS485 connection and alarm connections, and even a system reset button to return the camera to factory setting defaults. The camera also comes with an onboard micro SD chip slot for standalone recording. As for the electronic features, there are really too many to mention here, you'll just need to check the specifications or the owner's manual. Lastly, the camera records 3.o Megapixel resolution (2048 X 1536) at 15 frames per second and 2 Megapixel resolution (1920 X 1080) on down to 720p, D1, CIF, and even VGA (640 X480) at 30 frames per second. It's a dual stream camera so it pumps out a second stream of lower resolution for monitoring at either D1 or CIF resolution at up to 30 frames per second simultaneously with the main stream. The camera has about a 50 to 60 foot infrared mode range in total darkness using its own on-board IR LEDs. In addition to that if is pretty low light sensitive as well rated at 0.2 LUX inn color and 0.01 Lux in black and white before using the IR mode. As I said in the beginning, this is an excellent "full service" camera.
A dome camera with this high of resolution means you probably either want to see a lot of detail or a lot period. You can definitely do either with Security Camera King's camera because of the 3 megapixel maximum resolution and the 4.5mm to 10mm varifocal lens. If you are worried about this camera function in cold temperature conditions, don't be. It comes with a built in heater and blower. If there were anything that I could find fault with on this camera it would be the very large pigtail connection at the end of the camera cable. Although you still have enough slack to feed each connector through an access hole one at a time. The pigtail includes an several different types of connectors including a BNC to hook the camera up to a standard DVR, alarm inputs, microphone and speaker connections and a master reset button if you need to made changes to the camera and you need to reset those to the factory default settings. The camera's video quality is simply amazing, perhaps insurmountable. You can record 3 megs at 15 frames per second or 2 megs (1080p) at 30 fps real-time rate. While its recording your designated resolution from its main stream it is also sending out a sub stream for monitoring purposes and even that is still at D1 (it can be changed to CIF if you prefer). The camera is also "tri" powered; it can run off 12 VDC, 24 VAC, or POE. The infrared mode works well too. I get about a 50 foot range in total darkness and the picture is a fine, sharp, black and white picture. Actually, when you purchase this camera it's like your getting a camera and a built in DVR in one because it can work in stand alone mode as well by using a 32 gig micro SD card. So you can actually use this camera as a stand alone, with an NVR, a hybrid DVR/NVR, a DVR, or even record it to your own personal computer! Very nice, very nice indeed.
