I realize this is a video security camera recorder, but we actually don't use our system for security as much as we do for documentation. I am one of the computer specialists assigned the duty of maintaining this system in our meeting/negotiations room. We are a large legal/financial firm and we often have meetings or negotiations that occur that we prefer to record for our benefit and protection. Our meeting room is sound proof but clearly marked at the entry that proceedings within the room are being video and audio recorded for all parties' benefit. (Disclosure and acceptance notifications are also signed by all participants to satisfy any legal requirements as well). In the past we have used a web conferencing camera set up. The cameras will follow moving participants (in the case of a presentation for example) and the central table microphone records the audio. However, we have found this system to be inadequate. So instead, we have installed this 4 channel HD-SDI DVR to record and HD-SDI cameras (as well as individual powered microphones for each). This is working out much better than the make-shift conferencing equipment we have used in the past.

The DVR does an excellent job of recording both video and audio and they are synched perfectly as well. The extremely high resolution video provides very good details and color accurate recordings while the audio is very clearly understood and not distant sounding or distorted. The extra internal hard disk drives allow us plenty of room for continuous recording during the longest meetings and internal DVD burner allows us to provide copies of them for external attendees/participants afterwards. Although our use may be somewhat unusual for this type of equipment I can only imagine that it would work perfectly as a video security system as well. In addition, I did have some questions setting up the system so I contacted Security Camera King via their technical support department. They gave excellent service, exact directions, and pertinent solutions.

Excellent definition, clarity and color of the videos. They look just like digital movies taken with a regular video camera. Facial recognition is realistic and excellent and the DVR is pretty easy to use. The DVR can be operated by the buttons on the front or by using the included USB mouse and the On Screen Display (OSD) menu system. This OSD is easy to use as far as clicking the mouse, navigating, etc. but it does take a little while to learn where all the settings are at and how too get to them quickly and make the proper adjustments. However, that is barely an inconvenience when it comes to the superior performance of the DVR. There a re many, many features available via the OSD. Without a doubt, this is a five star DVR.

Can't complain about this one. It's a high quality HD-SDI model that does an excellent job. I had no problem using my old system's RG59 coaxial cable for the cameras to the DVR. No noise, iterference, or connection problems. THe recording just blows away my antiquate system ( I think my old camerws were like 380TVL or something close to that). Over time, I've watched how these video security systems have improved with technological advances and how the prices have actually gone down because of them. I purchased this one to upgrade to, because I can't think of anything else that the DVR or cameras would need or could improve upon (other than resolution greater than 2 megs) so I think this one will last a very long time. It's a keeper.

Ok, call me an idiot, the term certainly does apply. When I purchased a local convenience store that is open 24 hours daily, I wanted to have a good video security camera system. The one that the previous owner had was antiquated at best and to be quite honest was useless except for the fact that he had a monitor at the counter to demonstrate to customers that they were under surveillance. I am not a security camera expert, but had been referred to Security Camera King by a friend of mine in the convenience store business. This DVR certainly sounded like the upgrade I needed because it could use the existing RG59 coaxial cable that had been there for years. So I ordered the DVR, connected the cables and it didn't work. I didn't realize it needed HD SDI cameras in order to work. When I realized how expensive they were I just about went into shock, but I had already purchased the DVR so I thought I might as well go head first and purchase four of the cameras. I can now say that the idiot is a genius. Boy was I glad I made that mistake. With the full HD-SDI system in place I couldn't believe the quality of the video recordings and the detailed coverage I get. One day I was working with the DVR and a customer came in. I was playing back some previous footage when the customer came to the counter to checkout and saw the playback on the monitor. They said, "Hey what did you do, video tape that with your video camera?" That's how good the quality is. I feel like a shmuck for not bothering to pay attention initially, but I am glad I made the mistake I did now. In the future, I will definitely pay more attention to detail. In the mean time, I am thoroughly satisfied with my new Security Camera King HD-SDI Security System.

This DVR and the whole security HD-SDI system is amazing technology that is long overdue and very useful for security camera applications. We have an old, nearly outdated video security camera system in our small store. The owner finally decided to invest in a new system and when he did, he wanted to upgrade to something that he thought would outlast the technological advancements for at least a few years. I think he found it. I helped him install this system and remove the old parts. It was really quite easy because we mounted the cameras in the same locations and used the same coaxial RG59 cable that we used for the old system so we didn't have to run any new cable. The only difference was the old cameras were the box type cameras and the new ones he purchased are domes but all it took was a few screws and they were ready to go.

The DVR records in such high definition resolution (1080p) that it is like watching a HD movie at home. The detail and clarity is totally amazing. The DVR comes with all the necessary parts and cables needed to hook up SATA drives, network connections, etc. and it even comes with its own USB mouse and infrared remote control. The best part about the DVR is that in addition to "local" operation, if the DVR is connected to the Internet, you can remotely access the DVR and cameras from your smartphone or home computer. The store doesn't have any elaborate network system (we do have broadband Internet) but it isn't need for this type of DVR anyway. I'm not real familiar with the NVRs and IP megapixel cameras, other than the fact that they were the only way to get this type of detail before, but I think you had to have a network for them to work. This operates just like a regular DVR based system and is simple to install and easy to use. I think Security Camera King not only won over a customer with my boss but he has been showing off the system to a lot of other store owners so I would anticipate some additional orders soon!

I recently purchased the Security Camera King 4 Channel HD Series HD-SDI 1080p Realtime Security DVR and cameras. I use the DVR commercially as a replacement for my old system in my store. If you are used to using old (several years old) security systems you won't believe your eyes when you see one of these HD-SDI systems. Here are some of the things that I have noticed about using this DVR with the HD-SDI cameras. The DVR and the cameras are expensive, no doubt. If you are used to the prices for a 420TVL basic camera hold on to your hat, because there is no comparison here, but rightfully so. As much as the difference exists between the price of an HD-SDI DVR and even a standard D1 DVR, the quality and performance is just as great. I installed my own system, and since I already had an older system that this replaced, my cables were already in place. So, it did save me a lot of time and some money. However, if you have this system professionally installed (especially for DVRs with more channels) and it is replacing an old system, you will save a lot of money on the installation because the cables need not be run again. Basically, if you are familiar with the network IP megapixel cameras systems, this appears the same as those. However, it doesn't require a network or Internet to use, but it can be connected to the Internet for remote access. Once again, my DVR is only 4 channels but I can see where a network system with lots of cameras could start to cause potential problems in bandwidth and data capacity. As far as the features are concerned, this DVR has all the features you'll find on the standard models so I won't get into detail on that. I will say that this DVR has exceeded my expectations and any future purchases I make for my security camera system will definitely be at Security Camera King.

Review by Jaque Cherault, Cherault Jewlers on May 01, 2013
Our fine jewelry shop has been a family owned business for over 70 years. We take great pride in offering some of the finest jewelry available in Western Canada and for most of our country. Like many high end, some of our bijouterie is so valuable that we place it in one of our vaults at night before closing. Therefore, you can imagine that we take security at hour store very, very seriously. When my father first inherited the store from my grand father, he had a security camera system installed for both the interior and exterior of the store. The interior portion was so comprehensive it covered our merchandise, entrance, and cashier's counters as well. That system was a black and white camera system that recorded to a looping Video Tape Recorder (now considered an antique I suppose). Later on, my father had a completely newer system installed with the first digital type 400 TVL cameras and DVR installed. It's been many years since we have upgraded our security system. My father has passed and I now own and operate the business and I decided to upgrade our security camera system one more time. Several business friends recommended Security Camera King so I began with them and starting searching their on-line catalog pages. Since we already have the video cables installed for the cameras, I really only needed the cameras and the DVR. The HD-SDI seemed to be the perfect upgrade answer. These systems are considerably more expensive than the typical "analog" digital camera systems so I though I would start small and only purchase a 4 camera DVR and the accompanying four cameras. Well I can tell you that I am back writing this review, because I have decided to purchase another unit and cameras to complete our system because I was so impressed with this 4 Channel DVR. There is absolutely no comparison between the quality of one of these HD-SDI systems and a typical analog TVL based system. Actually, it is so good, I can't imagine the need to upgrade this system ever again. It really works that well. My thanks go out to Security Camera King's technical support department as well. They are a really good group of individuals that really seem to want you to succeed with your system. They are very knowledgeable and patient and the were a tremendous help to someone like me that allowed me to install the system myself.

I didn't just want to write "Amazing!" for the review title, but this DVR is really amazing! A few months ago, I visited a friend that also has his own business and he showed me his new security camera system. We initially got on the subject because I was telling him about how I was thinking of replacing my old system. (I've been in business for almost 30 years and so has my security system--I still had a video recorder that used tapes). His new system is a network IP megapixel camera system that he purchased from Security Camera King. I couldn't believe how unbelievably fine and clear his security camera system was, it was almost like watching a movie on TV. He suggested that I contact Security Camera King and look at the website to see what was available. When I spoke with someone from their sales office I told them about that system and how I was considering installing my own similar system, but I joked about getting a little too old for crawling around in the attic of my building to run new wire. They suggested that I consider this 4 Channel HD-SDI Series DVR and cameras. The beauty of this system is that I installed the DVR and installed the new HD-SDI cameras but I didn't have to bother running any new cables. The cameras and DVR operate off of the same old coaxial cable that my "Thomas Edison Invented" system ran off of, but wow, is there ever a big difference! The quality of the video my system captures now is outstanding! I get all the benefits of a network camera system without the need for running new wire or needing a network. This system is incredibly more expensive than what I paid for my old system, but it's definitely worth it. Not only that, but I installed it this time, where the original system was installed by a professional company and I know I saved a couple of thousand dollars on installation costs. If you are looking for all the benefits of an IP megapixel network camera system without having a network or wanting to re-run cables if you had a pre-existing system, I would definitely recommend on these DVRs!
