4 Channel HD Series 1080p HD-SDI Realtime Security DVR
Review by Mario Stanzas on May 31, 2013
I recently purchased the Security Camera King 4 Channel HD Series HD-SDI 1080p Realtime Security DVR and cameras. I use the DVR commercially as a replacement for my old system in my store. If you are used to using old (several years old) security systems you won't believe your eyes when you see one of these HD-SDI systems. Here are some of the things that I have noticed about using this DVR with the HD-SDI cameras. The DVR and the cameras are expensive, no doubt. If you are used to the prices for a 420TVL basic camera hold on to your hat, because there is no comparison here, but rightfully so. As much as the difference exists between the price of an HD-SDI DVR and even a standard D1 DVR, the quality and performance is just as great. I installed my own system, and since I already had an older system that this replaced, my cables were already in place. So, it did save me a lot of time and some money. However, if you have this system professionally installed (especially for DVRs with more channels) and it is replacing an old system, you will save a lot of money on the installation because the cables need not be run again. Basically, if you are familiar with the network IP megapixel cameras systems, this appears the same as those. However, it doesn't require a network or Internet to use, but it can be connected to the Internet for remote access. Once again, my DVR is only 4 channels but I can see where a network system with lots of cameras could start to cause potential problems in bandwidth and data capacity. As far as the features are concerned, this DVR has all the features you'll find on the standard models so I won't get into detail on that. I will say that this DVR has exceeded my expectations and any future purchases I make for my security camera system will definitely be at Security Camera King.
4 Channel HD Series 1080p HD-SDI Realtime Security DVR

Our fine jewelry shop has been a family owned business for over 70 years. We take great pride in offering some of the finest jewelry available in Western Canada and for most of our country. Like many high end, some of our bijouterie is so valuable that we place it in one of our vaults at night before closing. Therefore, you can imagine that we take security at hour store very, very seriously. When my father first inherited the store from my grand father, he had a security camera system installed for both the interior and exterior of the store. The interior portion was so comprehensive it covered our merchandise, entrance, and cashier's counters as well. That system was a black and white camera system that recorded to a looping Video Tape Recorder (now considered an antique I suppose). Later on, my father had a completely newer system installed with the first digital type 400 TVL cameras and DVR installed. It's been many years since we have upgraded our security system. My father has passed and I now own and operate the business and I decided to upgrade our security camera system one more time. Several business friends recommended Security Camera King so I began with them and starting searching their on-line catalog pages. Since we already have the video cables installed for the cameras, I really only needed the cameras and the DVR. The HD-SDI seemed to be the perfect upgrade answer. These systems are considerably more expensive than the typical "analog" digital camera systems so I though I would start small and only purchase a 4 camera DVR and the accompanying four cameras. Well I can tell you that I am back writing this review, because I have decided to purchase another unit and cameras to complete our system because I was so impressed with this 4 Channel DVR. There is absolutely no comparison between the quality of one of these HD-SDI systems and a typical analog TVL based system. Actually, it is so good, I can't imagine the need to upgrade this system ever again. It really works that well. My thanks go out to Security Camera King's technical support department as well. They are a really good group of individuals that really seem to want you to succeed with your system. They are very knowledgeable and patient and the were a tremendous help to someone like me that allowed me to install the system myself.
4 Channel HD Series 1080p HD-SDI Realtime Security DVR

I didn't just want to write "Amazing!" for the review title, but this DVR is really amazing! A few months ago, I visited a friend that also has his own business and he showed me his new security camera system. We initially got on the subject because I was telling him about how I was thinking of replacing my old system. (I've been in business for almost 30 years and so has my security system--I still had a video recorder that used tapes). His new system is a network IP megapixel camera system that he purchased from Security Camera King. I couldn't believe how unbelievably fine and clear his security camera system was, it was almost like watching a movie on TV. He suggested that I contact Security Camera King and look at the website to see what was available. When I spoke with someone from their sales office I told them about that system and how I was considering installing my own similar system, but I joked about getting a little too old for crawling around in the attic of my building to run new wire. They suggested that I consider this 4 Channel HD-SDI Series DVR and cameras. The beauty of this system is that I installed the DVR and installed the new HD-SDI cameras but I didn't have to bother running any new cables. The cameras and DVR operate off of the same old coaxial cable that my "Thomas Edison Invented" system ran off of, but wow, is there ever a big difference! The quality of the video my system captures now is outstanding! I get all the benefits of a network camera system without the need for running new wire or needing a network. This system is incredibly more expensive than what I paid for my old system, but it's definitely worth it. Not only that, but I installed it this time, where the original system was installed by a professional company and I know I saved a couple of thousand dollars on installation costs. If you are looking for all the benefits of an IP megapixel network camera system without having a network or wanting to re-run cables if you had a pre-existing system, I would definitely recommend on these DVRs!
All I Can Say About The 4 Channel HD Series 1080p HD-SDI Realtime Security DVR Is Wow!
Review by Smoot, Sherman (Maryland USA) on Mar 11, 2013
If you've been using an analog CCTV system like I have for years (my cameras were 420TVL and my DVR was CIF display) and you yank them out and replace it with this HD-SDI DVR and cameras the difference is so great, you could go into shock! This is amazing! I have a small store that requires security surveillance and the 4 camera system is just the right amount. However, I have had my old system for several years (it was state-of-the-art when I bought it) and I certainly do not have a network. However, my brother, a CTV installer told me that I could still get the equivalent of IP network quality displays by purchasing an HD-SDI DVR and cameras from Security Camera King and yet still use my already installed video cable. This DVR records at 1080p at 30 frames per second for all four cameras simultaneously, and sends a different stream for viewing at D1 and 30 frames per second (my new monitoring resolution is even bigger than my old recording resolution). This DVR comes with all the other features you get on most of the upper end Security Camera King DVRs including several video outputs for monitors, lots of internal storage drive space, an optional DVD burner if you want it, audio inputs including 2 way voice, and all the Internet related remote activities of all the other DVRs/NVRs. I am definitely impressed, and since I didn't have to worry about replacing or rerunning my cable, it was easy for me to install the cameras and DVR quickly myself.
