This is a nice camera with a specialized function. We use it at our checkout counter. We have the camera positioned so that when the lens is set at wide angle we can encompass the whole counter area in the shot, but when we want to cover the specifics of a transaction we can use the automatic zoom to close in on exactly what is taking place and what is exchanging hands. The camera works well with the RS485 connection for remote control of the camera and the OSD. I can’t see a lot of wide range use for a camera like this but I would imagine there are plenty of special use circumstances (like casino tables for example) where it might be very handy. Basically, since it is a true day/night camera you don’t need infrared illumination. That works great because if you did, you might just zoom outside your limited infrared LED range if you had them. Also, you get the benefits of a high quality day/night color cam with a good zoom without paying the full price of a more expensive Pan Tilt Zoom camera.

This is a high quality specialty camera that does a pretty good job in very low light conditions. In fact, I call this my "James Bond" camera because of the fact that it has the 2.9 - 10mm auto focus motorized varifocal lens and the 0.0 LUX minimum lighting for color reproduction. In many ways you can't get a whole lot better than this but there are a few areas for improvement. Nothing overly significant, but the resolution doesn't quite top out at today's maximums (700 - 730TVL) for analog cameras and is you are going to want to purchase a motorized zoom lens camera, it would be nice to have a little more focal length on the far end so you can zoom for than just 10mm. Just the same, I do like the camera and I think it does a good job, especially in low light conditions. Even though the camera is a sort of "specialty" camera it is still versatile in use because in addition to the lens and true day/night features it also has an On Screen Display (OSD) menu system that allows you to make adjustments to many electronic features and it is even a dual voltage camera. I doubt you'll be buying this for every day security camera usage, but if you do need a camera like this one, I don't think you'll be disappointed with it either.

First of all, I won't try to fool you and make it sound like this camera is for anybody. Your going to want to use this camera if you have a situation where you need a fixed zoom camera (i.e. you don't need a Pan Tilt and Zoom but just the Zoom) and since you will be zooming at distances, you don't want to have to fool with infrared LEDs to with a fixed illumination range. (Although this camera will pick up illumination from other infrared cameras that have IRLEDs if they are within the camera's field of view.) This camera has a 2.9 to 10mm varifocal lens, but the lens is also motorized with an autofocus. That means you can use this camera like the Zoom function on a PTZ camera, that is you can control it from the DVR and see the results instantly on your monitor. Now the 10 mm focal length doesn't give you a tremendous zooming power, but it is sufficient for our needs at least. You may want to talk to Security Camera King professionals to make sure it will suit your application before you purchase it. The camera has a 650 TVL resolution and the video picture display is very accurate and of the highest quality. The camera also has an On Screen Display menu that can be used to adjust many different features' settings such as back light compensation, white balance, motion detection, wide dynamic range and many others. The OSD can be operated from an RS485 connection or the camera has an included remote control that can also operate the lens and OSD. It is a good quality piece of electronic equipment.

Sometimes you don't need someone to tell you you've got something good, you just have to experience it. That could be the case with Security Camera King's TPS-QLDAZ4 650 TVL Auto Zoom dome camera. At first sight this camera may seem expensive, perhaps even exorbitant. Who would need such a camera and pay this much money for one that doesn't even give the maximum resolution analog cameras have to offer these days? If you look a little closer you might find the answer to that question, and perhaps I could help. First, and probably one of the most important aspects of this camera is that if you mount it in the right place and position, it could replace multiple cameras. The 2.9 to 10mm varifocal lens doesn't offer the greatest zooming power available by any means but it does zoom and it does automatically adjust the iris and focus when it does. What this means is that if you set this camera up quickly you could use it in a retail store for example to get an overview of perhaps the entire store, however at the same time you could zoom in on transactions that occur at the cash register for a closer or tighter shot. Since the camera is a true day/night camera, there is no need for infrared illuminating LEDs in the evening as it can still produce pictures at 0, that's right 0 LUX. If you can't make this camera work for you, I would think it's because you aren't using its On Screen Display correctly or to its fullest extent. This menu system allows you to adjust the settings on just about everything on the camera including shutter speed, digital wide dynamic range, white balance, back light compensation, gain control, motion detection and even 10X digital zoom. What makes this even nicer is there are no buttons on the camera or joysticks on the cable to manipulate. It comes ready to use an RS485 connection to your DVR so you can operate it remotely from there. The picture is very good, the camera operates very well. You really need to see it to believe it.

Let me say from the very beginning that this is a very high quality camera with a beautiful video recording. There isn't much it doesn't have except may 50 more TVL of resolution! I guess I could complain about the price but for a true day/night dome with a fully automatic, functional varifocal zoom lens I think it is reasonable. All you have to do is run an additional pair of wires for an RS485 hook up between the camera and DVR and you can even control the automatic zoom from the DVR. If that's not possible or you don't want to run the wiring, the camera comes with an included remote control for the lens. Another feature that works through the RS485 connection though is the OSD so I would think that you would really want to run that wire pair. The OSD is pretty well maxed out with all the electronic features you can put on a camera and it includes adjustable shutter speed, digital wide dynamic range, white balance (which can also be automatic) back light compensation, motion detection mirror function and even 10X digital zoom. It's a good camera and it is truly high quality so you won't be disappointed.

This is a highly specialized camera that performs its job functions very well. I like the picture it captures; it clear and detailed at 650 TVL color resolution and since it is a true day/night camera everything I capture is in color. The true day/night feature is nice, but it is particularly useful since this camera has a motorized automatic zoom control. With the true day/night function you don't have to worry about zooming out of the range of LEDs or flooding a close up capture with too much LED light. The 2.8 - 10 mm motorized zoom lens works great too, and it can be controlled from Security Camera King DVRS using a pair of wires connected to the RS485 port. This type of camera is useful for our purposes because we have a fixed area that we need to zoom in on from time to time and still have the ability to go wide when we need to. And we can do this without the expense of a Pan, Tilt, Zoom camera since we don't need to move the camera around. The camera is dual voltage so it will work on 12 VDC or 24 VAC systems so it makes a good add on camera. The OSD is loaded with all sorts of features like shutter control, white balance, gain control and wide dynamic range as well as many more. This Quantum Light camera was very easy to mount and set up and we think the video picture it captures is superb!

Security Camera King's TPS-QLDAZ4 vandal dome camera is a nice specialty camera if you need a camera that has a motorized 2.9 - 10 mm varifocal lens with an automatic focus. It also has a 10X digital zoom as well. NO LEDs and true day/night means you'll get video at night in full color with this camera. It has an On Screen Display that will allow you to configure many of its features (and it's got many) and settings. Also the camera is RS485 ready for control of the zoom lens from the DVR or you can use the included remote control. Nice camera.

When does a 650 TVL dome camera cost more than a 2 megapixel IP dome camera? When the 650 TVL camera has an automatic zoom and is a true day/night color at night camera! This camera has a motorized zoom lens with an automatic focus. It's great for applications where you can mount the camera and make use of the zoom without the need for repositioning the camera. In this respect, it's similar to having a PTZ without the P and T and better yet without the expensive price tag. You can control the zoom from your DVR by using the RS485 connection or the camera also comes included with an infrared remote control (if there are obstructions between the IR remote location and the camera you will need to count on using the RS485 connection). The camera has variable shutter speeds and good light control with the features on the on screen display. This camera is pretty much a specialized use type kind of camera and it works great for what it was designed for.

This is a very nice camera. If you are reading this because you are considering purchasing this for your special use, I'd recommend it. The 650 TVL resolution creates a pretty detailed color video picture and the color is just spot on. The 2.8 to 10 mm varifocal lens and the iris are motorized for remote zooming. Control for the zoom by the way, can be done be using two wires connected to your RS485 port or by using the included remote control. You can also control the on screen display menu from the DVR this way and it has several features that allow you to have precise control over the camera. Some of these features include white balance, back lighting, gain control, digital wide dynamic range, and motion detection to name a few. Heck, you can tweak the OSD settings to make this camera work well in just about any environment including total darkness. The price tag may seem a little high, but when you consider all the features and the quality of the recordings you get with this instrument you'll realize that it is well worth the price!

Security Camera King's 650 TVL Auto Zoom True Day/Night Color at Night Vandal Dome camera a puts dome cameras on another plane with it's automatic zoom function. It comes in a neat, compact, black design that at first look appears almost all as one piece. The camera is easy to mount with just a few screws and it's dual voltage so it can be used on 12 or 24 volt systems. You will need to run an extra pair of wires from your DVR to the camera using the RS485 connection so you can control the zoom lens from the DVR. If you are within distance of the camera and the monitor at the same time, you can use the included remote control to work the zoom instead. Not only does this camera have an automatic zoom, but it also has an on screen display menu system that gives you access to a wide variety of video functions that can increase the quality of your shot. Some of the available functions include back light compensation, gain control, motion detection, white balance, wide dynamic range, and many others. In addition, this camera is a true ay/night camera so no infrared LEDs are uses and it produces accurate color video in extremely low light conditions. This is an excellent dome camera loaded with a lot of special functions.
