700TVL Sony Dual Scan Weatherproof Dual Voltage Long Range IR Varifocal Bullet Camera
Review by Jeremy Sanborn on Mar 19, 2014
I really can't find anything negative to say about this camera. The price is a little high compared to average bullet cameras, but this isn't an average bullet camera and for the features that this camera carries, I think it is well worth the investment. If your wondering about the video recording quality coming form this camera; don't. I don't think you can better 700TVL recording. The video is high quality from the get go with true color rendition, good details, and a sharp image display. There are several things that make this camera exceptional. The Sony CCD chipset is one of them. The fact that it performs the dual scan technique yields true wide dynamic range, which far exceeds the capabilities of the "simulated" wide dynamic range achieved by digital enhancers. Next, the varifocal lens is hot. A bullet with a varifocal lens isn't unusual but one with a 6 to 60mm focal length is. This camera has some major manual zoom capability and it even has a feature Security Camera King calls "E-Zoom" which is an electronic digital zoom. In addition the infrared LEDs produce a powerful radiation of up to a 250 foot range so not only can you get good coverage var away but you can still see it at night as well. The camera also has a dual voltage function but we stick with the convention 12V DC. This camera is great for use on storage lots or car lots where you have a vast area to cover from a central place.

This is a solid workhorse of a bullet camera. It's toughly built, durable, dependable, and of high quality. The picture is fantastic. The camera has a lot of features in addition to the dual scan true wide dynamic range, which is a huge enhancement by itself. With dual voltage you can use a 24V AC power supply and string this thing along way away from your DVR and in addition to that distance, the camera gets a 250 foot infrared range. The OSD comes loaded with many options and features and is controlled by joystick type button on the outside of the camera. In fact about the only improvement they could make to this camera is right there, with the OSD. I'm surprised that Security Camera King didn't make a camera of this caliber with a remote RS485 OSD connection, but as it is, it is manual. Just the same, if this camera can get the job done, there can't be many others that can.

We were looking for a camera that we could use as a license plate capture camera. Because of our situation, we needed one that could work at night at a range much greater than 15 meters (50 feet). In fact we need to get about 45 meters (150 feet) down range from the camera at night. This camera works very well for that with its powerful infrared LEDs and the incredible 6 - 60mm zoom lens. The On Screen Display has all the features that we need to set this camera up for license plate capture including the head light compensation, wide dynamic range, and so forth. It's actually very low light sensitive without even using the infrared LEDs if you turn on the automatic gain control. Security Camera King support department was very helpful for us in getting the camera set up so we could do it all ourselves.

I have to say that when I first saw this camera on the web page I wasn't very impressed by the picture. It kind of looks old or out of date to me so I checked out many more cameras, including cameras that were not on Security Camera King's website. I ended up coming back here and ordered this camera after taking a look at the specs because I was looking for a camera with a 250 foot infrared range without the need for using an extra illuminator.

The moral of the story on this one is "Don't judge a book by its cover." Now that I own it and use it, I must admit that I really am impressed. I ordered the camera on line and it was at my doorstep within three days. No problem with ordering or shipping and I paid for it using my Paypal account. Mounting and installation of the camera are standard like any other TVL camera so that was easy. This camera does a great job of capturing nice color videos even in poor lighting conditions! I had no choice but to mount my camera where the setting sun creates a long casting shadow yet looking in that direction you get sunlight straight in the eyeballs. The dual scan/true wide dynamic range works great compensating for this. The camera gets every bit of its 250 foot infrared range at night time too and that comes in handy with a varifocal lens with a 60mm top end focal length. I would definitely recommend this one.

This is a high quality bullet camera with a lot of features. The video captured and recorded by this camera is super high quality color (or black and white) video at 700TVL resolution. The price may seem a little high, but besides the high quality video recording it captures you're also paying for a combination of very strong specialty features that may be difficult to find in other manufacturers. First of all this unit has a great varifocal zoom lens with a focal length that ranges from 6 up to a total of 60 mm! That's some good quality optical zooming and can bring in some "down range" objects fairly close. Next the camera is dual voltage, that is it can utilize either 12VDC or 24VAC voltage supplies so if you need an outdoor camera that is mounted a significant distance from your DVR you can safely and confidently use 24VAC power without worrying about voltage drops over distance. In addition, and probably one of the strongest features is it's extra long range infrared mode. This camera has a long distance infrared range in total darkness of 250 feet so you shouldn't need to worry about purchasing separate additional illuminators to record at a distance. Plus, the zoom lens gives you a good opportunity for night time recording at a distance with confidence since you know it carries the infrared illumination to back it up. It's even got four zones of motion detection along with up to 15 privacy zones. Definitely a good buy from Security Camera King.

Ordered this camera on line and received it in three days time. It must be rather new for Security Camera King or I am the first one to write a review for it. This is a 700TVL bullet camera that doesn't mess around. If you need to use this camera with an infrared illuminator, than you must be capturing down the length of an airport runway or something, because this camera has a 250 foot infrared range in total darkness. It's on board infrared LEDs are powerful! Not only are the LEDS powerful, but the varifocal lens has got some muscle to it too! The varifocal lens ranges from 6 to 60mm in focal length so you can do some serious zooming with this camera and the nice thing about this camera is that it has a built in function (the Effio-P smart IR) that will automatically adjust for IR intensity so you still get well IR lit subjects down range and close, without the close ones being over exposed due to the powerful LEDs. You also get other OSD related features like Headlight compensation and actual dual scanning (not the digital form) wide dynamic range to help with challenging light conditions. Finally, it's dual voltage so if you have a long cable run or just use 24 VAC it can handle it or standard 12VDC. Good camera, worth the price and I would recommend it.
