Complete 16 Channel DVR Ultimate Security Camera Package
Review by Steinberg, Hymie (New York USA) on Apr 30, 2013
I work in the securities and exchange field and we recently purchased the Complete 16 Channel DVR Ultimate Security Camera Package from Security Camera King for two purposes. One is to provide surveillance and security for inside the office building and the other is to use as a monitor for providing security on the exterior of our offices. We upgraded the cameras and use some different models for different reasons and we also purchased a large hard drive along with a DVD burner. We received the order intact, packaged well, and within 3 business days after placing our order. We began installation of the cameras but we had to take a temporary halt, as we realized we didn't do a very good job of considering our requirements and didn't order enough wire to cover the runs throughout our building. We contacted Security Camera King and made sure we placed our additional order for enough wire to complete the job and they had it shipped to us within the week! We purchased several different cameras; there is no point in me listing them all but I will say that they all mounted easily, set up easily and work fine. I should also say that we intend to purchase another 16 or 32 camera system when we are ready to expand our system so as a result the company also purchased a Security Camera King CCTV Tester With 12V Power Output and MultiMeter (Security Camera King's product number TOOL-TP250) and that made camera mounting and installation especially easy for so many cameras. Using the DVRs OSD and fine tuning a couple of our cameras we have even been able to provide 1005 coverage to our network server room to alert us to activity via an alarm light. The D1 recording display at 30 frames per second is nice. Since I am not real familiar with security camera surveillance systems I played around with the DVR settings when I first set it up and changed the display to CIF. I definitely like the D1 resolution better and I am glad now that we went with that. We also like the Internet access capability. That allows us to be able to control the DVR from our offices using our personal computers or monitor any of the cameras when we are walking out in the plant. In addition, we have email notifications set up on a couple of our cameras set up with motion detection. When they sense a specific movement, they send us an email alert. As for the human resources side of the system, that is, security and surveillance of our employees or visitors, the system works great! We have a PTZ camera in our parking lot that helps to protect our employees and their vehicles as well as monitor our entrance and receiving area. The DVR controls the PTZ (when we don't have it on automatic) just by using the mouse which is nice. I really can't find anything at fault with this system, it is of high quality and works well. The only thing I didn't like is that if you really want to use some specific features and you are not a regular CCTV person it does take a while to get used to the DVR's OSD menus and how to work them. On the other hand, I did contact Security Camera King's support department and they were excellent at walking me through the steps and menu pages necessary to get the job done. They also gave me some tips and tricks and helped me to get more familiar with the system.

I'll try to be as objective as possible here, but I do lean toward the "pro" side as I do like our system. I'm not much of a writer so if my thoughts seem a little scattered I apologize but I am writing this off the cuff as I think of things. The DVR works great. 16 cameras all recording at D1 at the same time at 30 frames per second is quite a load but the DVR does it without much ado. Our system hasn't seized up at all and the cameras have continued working dependably both day and night. The DVR has an operating system that is set up like pages in a book. Every setting or adjustment is usually unique to a certain page. The easy thing about making adjustments is all you have to do is use the included USB mouse to point and click on items. The difficult thing about the adjustments is that you have to know where everything is located in order to do it. Otherwise you may find yourself wandering around the menu system trying to find your specific item. There are options it seems for just about everything. You can set the resolutions and frame rates of your recordings, motion detection and masking zones, color and brightness adjustments, alarm settings, audio options, you name it. If the possibility exists with the equipment you can set it all right from the OSD menu pages. That includes several different monitoring options including the ability to use three monitors simultaneously by taking advantage of the HDMI, VGA, and BNC video outputs. The only "down" side to this is that the HDMI is the only video output that can also carry audio. If you want or need more than that you'll have to have some sort of speakers. The DVR can be set to send you e-mail notices when a camera detects motion. If that occurs you can go to your personal computer or smartphone that you have installed the free Security Camera King app on, and actually view the camera or control the system. When we first set our outdoor cameras up I was getting tons of e-mails, but it was because I didn't set the camera up properly for motion detection. After I called Security Camera King's support department they help get things straight and that option worked fine. Speaking of the cameras, they are good basic cameras but if you are looking for more features than basic, automatic settings you will need to upgrade the cameras that they offer. All around I would say this is a very good system and I would recommend it to others who needed it.

I purchased this 16 channel Ultimate system for my store about 3 months ago and I have returned to the Security Camera King site to place another order so that should tell you something already about how I feel about Security Camera King. As for this particular package system, it has been working well ever since I put it in operation. I own one of those old fashioned independent hardware stores (that are nearly extinct) but I have had to offer an extensive range of available inventory to remain in competition with the franchises. I've also had to upgrade my security camera system and that was what I purchased this system for. It works really well. Don't be fooled by some of the comments about the fixed 3.6mm wide angle lens, yes it is true that it is a wide angle lens but this system's display quality is good enough that you still see plenty of detail even in a wide shot. Not to mention the fact that the D1 recording resolution is really easier to see than CIF too. Of course the item that really makes this package deal worthwhile is the DVR. It has a lot of features and also has plenty of storage potential for video data while still maintaining enough room for an optional internal DVD burner. If you run out of space and need to store more footage, this DVR also has a eSATA port for connecting an external SATA hard drive. This Ultimate DVR comes with a lot of options and like many others I think my top two are the display and Internet options. You can connect three monitors to play simultaneously using the HDMI, VGA, and BNC ports and the DVR offers video matrixing and video loopouts as well. On the Internet side, the DVR can send you email notifications based on alarm triggers you set and you can gain complete remote access control with a personal computer or your smartphone as long as they are connected to the Internet.

I never thought I would live to see the day when it would be necessary for us to do this, place a security camera system in an elementary school. But between the pressures of the today's society, parents, and the children themselves, we feel it is best for the protection of the children as well as the teachers and staff. We are a relatively small elementary school that houses grades 5 through 7 which can be a period of transition in a growing child's life; not a teenager yet, but almost, and beginning to seek their own identity and experiment with life. We have installed the security camera system in all of the major "public" areas of our school, the halls, gymnasium, cafeteria, entrances, and so on. Your system was installed by our maintenance staff and they maintain (pun intended) that they experienced no complications or difficulties. Because of the nature of the architecture of the building we did have to purchase a couple of extra spools of Siamese cable for our camera cables. The DVR is located in my office with monitors located here and at the Administrative staff's reception area as well. The cameras work very well as does the recording unit. I understand by purchasing our product from you and installing it ourselves we have saved nearly $5000 in installation costs which should make our School Board extremely happy. Everything is working well and in perfect condition and I would recommend Security Camera King products to other potential customers.
I work for a chemical manufacturer and we purchased the Complete 16 Channel DVR Ultimate Security Camera Package from Security Camera King for two purposes. We received the order intact, packaged well, and within 3 business days after placing our order. When I make purchases on-line I try to complete reviews if they have a space for them because I often read them to help me decide what I am looking for. I'm the building manager of a large multi-business building that includes several private offices, a couple of government offices, and deli-café. My boss (the owner) wanted to know if I could install a security system to save some money on installation charges and this is the system that we settled on. Some of the building was prewired with CAT5 cable so I took advantage of that when I could. Some cameras I just used the Siamese RG59 coaxial cable. On the cameras with the CAT5 cable, many were some pretty long cable runs so we also purchased some active and passive baluns and the whole install worked out fine. As a result we have complete coverage of the outside of the building, the entrance for each office, and the inner hall inside the building that connects the offices. We've also set up alarms on the inner hall doors (they are only supposed to be used for emergencies) using the alarm input/output function. The DVR and monitor are in my office toward the back of the building. We have given each of the offices top manager the ability to access the system with their smartphones or personal computers and they love it. It also helps me out a great deal because I can now tell when delivery trucks are arriving so I can open the warehouse door for them without having to stand out front and look for them or have them call my cell phone upon arrival. We ordered the DVR with a DVD burner so I could burn DVDs for any of the tenants that may request them, otherwise we maxed out the rest of the internal room with storage memory. Everything works fine and we have had no problems at all.

This is a pretty powerful unit to be able to record 16 cameras at D1 resolution and 30 frames per second simultaneously! The DVR does an excellent job of multi-channel recording and I haven't been able to detect any dropped frames on any channel. At the same time, the quality of the video picture is extremely good, with a sharp color correct display. I purchased this unit for my office/store and I have found it to be very useful. I took advantage of the 16 channel alarm input and purchased triggers and additional wire separately and have all of my doors, windows, and display cabinets on it. I also have an outdoor and indoor alarm light and siren that goes off in the event of a tripped trigger and I have also connected an alarm out to a monitoring device for 24 hour professional monitoring. I don't need 16 channels of audio recording but I do need a few so I purchased some microphones to go along with my system and record audio on them as well. I only need one monitor and since I do have audio recordings, I simply use a standard LCD TV/Monitor and connect it with the HDMI output. I found that the DVR's On Screen Display menu was a little challenging to use at first, but once I learned where everything was at it became very easy. I purchased a lot of extra storage so I can record without a quick turnaround time. Finally, the remote accessibility function via computer, smartphone, or iPad is absolutely great.
Large Size Resolution Recording Display, Great Quality

This is a good bargain and an excellent set of quality equipment. It really isn't difficult to install the system yourself, and if you do, you can save several thousands of dollars depending on your location. Not only that but Security Camera King has an excellent support staff that is more than willing to help with just about any issue concerning your security camera system from purchasing to installation and operation. I can honestly say that they seemed genuinely interested in helping me and with their help I had everything installed and operating in about one day. The 600 TVL resolution cameras work very well bvut if you have special lighting situations or mounting locations or uses you may want to upgrade to a camera with an On Screen Display (OSD) menu system that has adjustable electronic video picture enhancement features. Considering the large display of the Ultimate DVR (D1 or 704 X 480 pixels on each channel simultaneously) you may even want to consider upgrading to the 700 TVL cameras for an even finer picture. The DVR is simply amazing and comes loaded with a bunch of features to numerous to mention all of them. It allows for up to 16 alarm inputs and 6 outputs (all alarm outputs are relays with 12 VDC output) and up to 16 channels of audio input. Likewise, there are a multiple number of display options including HDMI, VGA, and BNC video outputs and video matrixing and video loop outs if you need spot monitors. This full size version not only offers a bigger display but the unit itself has room for additional internal hard drives and/or a DVD burner. With this many cameras and the display as large as it is, if you run the unit continuously you'll want the maximum storage capacity that you can easily afford. Finally, you can remotely access your DVR and cameras using a computer connected to the Internet or a iPhone, iPad, Android or similar device. This system really has it all for a 16 channel system and I highly recommend it.

In this day and age, I frankly can't understand how any retail store can remain in business without a good security camera system. We own a large discount crafts and souvenir store in a very busy attaraction area and receive a high volume of visitors every day. It is much more efficient for us to monitor carefully located cameras throughout the store than to contract a commercial security service. This is where the Security Camera King Complete 16 Channel DVR Ultimate Security Camera Package comes in. The large resolution detail of the fine color video recordings allow us to capture ieven some of the smallest details to support theft or damage claims. The system is not complicated to install. On the contrary, I installed the system in our store myself and it was fairly easy. Aiming and adjusting the 16 cameras is a little time consuming but other than that the installation was a breeze. I did have some questions about the set up process and using the remote access feature via the Internet, so I gave Security Camera King's support department a call. I was very impressed with their over all service, patience, and knowledge. They were very helpful and helped me to get the system up and running in no time and showed me how to use the remote access functions.

Review by Chuck Banner, Banner's Souvenir Stop on Nov 03, 2012
I operate a large souvenir and convenience store next to a major tourist attraction. We get hundreds of customers a day and it can really be difficult to keep track of merchandise thefts. I installed Security Camera Kings 16 channel Ultimate system myself and it has been really beneficial to preventing shop lifting occurrences and when they do occur we have the video documentation to back up any claim we may pursue. We are open late at night and I believe the security camera system has also helped to prevent unwieldy occurrences then too. Quite often the local police will visit our shop knowing that we record all of our cameras to see if we have any footage of a potential suspect. With D1 resolution at 30 frames per second recording on every channel at once, there's not much that our system misses. In addition to the video security, I have also installed an alarm system that is connected to the DVR as well. I also purchased microphones and we record audio at all our check out counters as well. The DVR is kept in the main office in a Security Camera King lockbox and mounted securely in the event someone would try to take it or somehow tamper with it as well. We run an HDMI cable out of the DVR/lockbox to a standing large monitor with speakers and control the DVR with the included USB mouse. In addition I have connected our broadband Internet to the DVR so I can remotely monitor the system anytime I want from just about anywhere that has Internet service. This is the "Ultimate" 16 camera package system and I would highly recommend it to anyone that would require a dependable, high quality, 16 channel system.
