If you are partial to box cameras than I would, by all means, recommend this camera. It boasts a 3 megapixel video recording at 15 frames per second which is what I would consider to be ultra-high quality security video recording. Fitted with the proper lens (Security Camera King sells a special 3.3 to 12mm megapixel IP camera lens for about $70) you can do some zooming but nothing powerful. The camera is loaded with all kinds of features including local SD card recording, standard DVR BNC video output for monitoring, and it is weatherproof so it will save you the additional expenditure of an outdoor enclosure for the camera. However at this point in time, the lens and camera together yields a total retail price of about $440 which I think is just a bit too much given the alternatives. And there are alternatives. In fact Security Camera King themselves sell cheaper cameras with 3 megapixel quality recording. There's nothing wrong with the camera, I do enjoy it's quality performance and video, but I think the price could be lower now that I have it.

About all I can say is that if you can't find what you are looking for in a box IP network megapixel camera in this camera, I doubt you'll find it. Great video capture, tremendous amount of choices in features, and believe it or not, still pretty easy to use and set up.

I don't have a whole lot to say other than this camera works great and the quality of the video it captures is great as well. Got a battery pack I can strap on it and I can use it for home movies too!

This camera is just remarkable! The 3 megapixel resolution produces a quality video that is basically unrivalled in as far as video security cameras are concerned. Between the super high definition 3 megapixel resolution and the zooming capability of the varifocal lens, I can imagine anyone missing any particular detail that they are interested in. The camera is a "complete package" too. I mean there isn't much lacking in the way of features or capabilities with this camera. Record to an NVR, pc's, or even to an SD card right on the camera. The camera supports audio in and out as well as an input for an alarm and an output. It's pretty good on light sensitivity too being rated at 0.2 Lux in color and 0.01 Lux in black and white. We use this inside our store, but focused at our parking area and store front through a window. There is a street light in front of the store and we never have to worry about having enough light for the camera to work. Facial recognition is very easy and other small details often stand out unlike any other security video I have ever seen. We are very impressed with the performance and capability of this camera as well as the support that backs it from the technical support team at Security Camera King.

Pretty good camera at 3 Megs and 15 frames per second. Lots of features including it own SD card slot for local recording. Video quality is very good. Low light sensitivity could be a little better but is still pretty good as it should because it becomes quite and investment with the purchase of a megapixel lens.

Sorry for the cliché but this one is "out of the ball park." What a camera! 3 Megapixels is probably overkill for our purposes but the 2 Megapixel (1080p) certainly is not and it makes for a great, high quality, high resolution security video. We actually use more than one of these cameras and we use one as a stand alone recording to the SD card. You can use the BNC jack to hook the camera up to a DVR and monitor it if you want. Nice camera and well worth the price. In addition to the quality of the camera, I'll also add that Security Camera King's technical support department has got to be one of the best. They are very responsive and knowledgeable.

This is a rather high priced box camera but not without good cause. After all, a 3 megapixel resolution video is actually better than watching high definition TV and this camera can record video at this resolution at a frame rate of 15 frames per second which is pretty good. If you are a stickler for real time, 30 frame per second recording, you can "drop down" the resolution to 2 full megapixels (that's still 1080p resolution) and record at that rate. It's hard to describe the high quality of the video this camera creates without actually seeing it. The details are incredibly fine and minute and you can see things that your camera never would have been able to capture if it were a 700TVL which is still a pretty good camera. This camera has all the features of a good, high quality IP network camera too including alarm connections, audio, motion detection, and POE. I do use Security Camera King's MP IR auto iris lens with this camera and it works great!

If you are familiar with video security cameras and have to use them in your line of work, it's real easy to get addicted to these relatively new network IP megapixel cameras, especially this one at a full resolution of 3 megapixels. At 3 megs resolution the detail is so fine that I doubt there will be anything that you will miss. This actually has two benefits. If you are looking for close shots that will show small details this camera is great. But it is also great for wide shots at a distance because once again, the detail gives you more viewing area at a better clarity. As far as the network functions of this camera are concerned I honestly have to say I'm not that familiar with them, because we use this camera as a standalone with a 32 gig SD card. This is definitely a five star product.

3 Megs. Really?...ha..ha...That's a lot of resolution for a camera so if you need a good camera that can show you the exact location of the mole on your subjects face, I guess this would be the one you want. The camera records a full 3 megapixel resolution at 15 frames per second or it will record 1080p resolution ( (2 Megapixels) at 30 frames per second. Either way, that's a lot of digital data and if you need something that can show cleared or more fine detail than that, you need some sort of specialty camera. The camera is absolutely loaded with features and options and the question you need to ask is not "What does it have" but "What doesn't it have that I need" which I suspect would result in an answer of "nothing" in most cases, i.e. its got everything. That includes digital wide dynamic range and other picture enhancing features and a minimum illumination rating of 0.2 Lux in color and 0.01 Lux in black and white. The camera comes with an audio and an alarm interface and also has a slot that can hold a 32 gig Micro SD card for local recording. It's multiple protocol and I can't imagine it not being compatible with just about every system out there. The quality of the video, including clarity, color, and detail are so good it is almost unbelievable. Like I said in the beginning, if you are looking for a camera that has an extremely high resolution recording and other quality features this would make an excellent choice!

3 Megapixel IP Network Box Security Camera
Review by Christopher Furlow on Jul 30, 2013
As far as the best IP network megapixel box security video cameras go, this one is at the top of the list. First of the all the most obvious feature is the full 3 megapixel resolution capture that can be obtained with this camera. It does so at a capture rate of 15 frames per second and some NVRs may not be able to support 3 meg recording but it can easily be recorded over the network using a computer. The majority of the uses I'm sure are at the full 2 megapixel (1080p) resolution recording at 30 frames per second. It is truly amazing how much more latitude you have with uses with a 1080p resolution camera (versus a 700TVL camera for example). This camera pretty well runs the gambit for megapixel camera features including standalone recording to a maximum 32 gig SD card. Light sensitivity is pretty much average with it being rated at 0.2 Lux for color and 0.01 Lux for black and white. Make sure you use the Security Camera King MP IR Auto Iris Lens with this camera, it works the best.
