I own a summer cottage on one of the Finger Lakes that includes my own little marina. During the Summer months my “baby,” my 40 foot cruiser is docked out back. I need something that can keep a watchful eye on it as it sits at my “home away from home.” I really didn’t need anything fancy, just something that would allow me to keep track of trespassers hanging around it or potential vandals. I already have some left over 700 TVL resolution cameras from the Security Camera King system I installed in my main home so I thought I would purchase a DVR to go with them to use at the cottage. I have a large D1 resolution DVR system at home and wasn’t sure about a CIF resolution DVR but this is great! Primarily, I use this system for remotely monitoring my boat when I am away using either my personal computer at home or work or my smartphone. I don’t even have the DVR hooked up to a monitor at the cottage because I use the remote access so much. I had a 2 Terabyte hard drive installed and the entire unit still cost less than $500! I also have activated the e-mail alerts notification feature so when a camera picks up any movement it sends me an e-mail. I feel much more secure about my “baby” now. I’ve never really had to “roll back” the video recording, but occasionally I do just to see if there is something I miss. To be honest, I have had several recording instances but it was usually caused by animals. The DVR works great, it’s dependable, and I like it.

I don't do a lot of reviews and when I do I don't give a product the top rating unless I think it really goes beyond other products of similar type. I do have to say that I believe this Security Camera King Techvision DVR is the BEST 4 Channel Mini Economy DVR on the market. I'm sure there are others that will find prices for similar DVRs that are even cheaper than this one, but when it comes to performance and quality, I'm telling you this one is the best. This DVR was obviously designed for applications that do not require a lot of extra features such as audio recording, alarms, and even HDMI displays (it does have two--VGA and BNC). But by the same token, this DVR has its work and design focused on recording video and doing it at a low price. There are a few nice surprises too. Email notification upon triggered events and remote Internet access are a couple and they work really well. You can use your personal computer (PC or Mac) or your smartphone (or a tablet) to remotely access the system as long as both are connected to the Internet. So in essence, you get an e-mail notification that a camera has detected something and right away you can pick up your smartphone and see what is happening. That's pretty good for a price just over $100. Also, although this unit isn't big enough to support an internal DVD burner you can use FTP, or many different USB devices to copy or back up your video files. (Use a USB thumb drive copy the video to it, transfer it to your computer, and burn a CD or DVD there.)

You'll never find a better 4 channel DVR for the same competitive price, that's just the way I feel. I own a small flower shop in lower Manhattan and I had a cheaper (not only was it less expensive but it was definitely cheaper in quality) DVR and system. The DVR went caput and I ordered this one from Security Camera King, what a difference! I was so impressed with the difference that I even ordered new cameras from Security Camera King and replaced the old ones. Wish I would have known about them a couple of years ago. The DDVR works just great for me here at the shop. We only have a small store frontage and the four cameras give us adequate coverage of both doors and our store frontage area. I don't need a lot of extra stuff, so the full size unit wasn't really for me. Everything is computers now these days. Our entire business depends on our computer, from keeping track of inventory, invoices, customers, and even at the store front checkout. So when I need to make a copy of the camera for police (and I have already done that a couple of times) I just use my 32 Gig USB thumb drive to copy the video footage and transfer to the office computer where I burn a DVD in just a couple of minutes. In addition to some one working the storefront and cash register, there is always someone (usually my wife or myself) working in the office. So my DVR and monitor is located there. We probably keep an eye on the monitor at least 80% of the time when someone some one is in the store. Since we don't need sound, alarms, or much other fancy stuff this "Mini Economy" DVR works great for us. The 2 Terabyte internal hard drive we purchased give us continuous recording on all 4 cameras at CIF and 30 frames per second for several weeks before we have to rewrite, plenty of time for us should we need to go back and visit recorded footage. Would I recommend this DVR to other people? You bet I would!

As a dealer I find that my customers love these Techvision DVRs. Security Camera King seems to have surveyed the "market" well to determine what the majority of customers are looking for and provide them with that in terms of security camera systems. This 4 Channel Elite Mini Economy Series H.264 Realtime Security DVR is a good example of that. This is a small, 4 camera unit that gives the consumer the very basics for what they need with the highest quality while conserving on price. In this day and age, very few people don't have a smartphone or computer access while at work for example. So a good majority of the time they spend watching their systems (especially for home use) will be when they are not at home. So why bear the expensive burden of a monitor when you really don't need one? That's what this 4 Channel Elite Mini can do for you. It has an Ethernet connection RJ45 jack that can connect the unit to a network or the Internet. Security Camera King has made available for FREE, applications that you can download for various devices from your personal computer to tablets to smartphones. That means that a unit like this with a small 250 gig hard drive installed will only cost $228 and that's cheap! Yet I can vouch for the fact that their components and service is still high quality. Purchasing this unit is like buying an economy car that's made by Lamborghini. It's an inexpensive piece of machinery by design, but the integrity of the quality isn't even questioned. I'd put this 4 Channel Elite Mini against any other similar CIF resolution recording at 30 frames per second DVR on the market today, and my bet is that it will always come out on top. You can find systems with a cheaper price, but so is the quality and the lack of features and options too. Of course this unit can be used for residential or commercial use, but when I tell the majority of my residential customers that they can get this DVR for the cost of what just monthly alarm system monitoring costs, it floors them!

I own a cottage on a fresh water lake. Since I'm single, I live here all year round and the cottage serves it's purpose for me quite well, even though the winters can be vicious. Since a lot of the cottages are vacant during the winter months I figure that with mine being one of the few that is occupied all year long, it is more susceptible to break ins. (Other residents empty out and lock up everything for the winter so there are very few disturbances at these cottages because potential thieves know there isn't much to be had.) I have two entrances/exits to my cottage and the way the building is built on stilts my windows are in accessible without a ladder. So I use two of Security Camera King's CV-LXSMOKE 630 TVL Smoke Detector Hidden Cameras, one at each door. I don't need any audio and I really don't need a monitor because I use the remote accessibility via the Internet to control the DVR from my computer at work. I also use my smartphone when I'm away and I do use the email notification alerts feature as well. (Set the cameras on motion detection and set the DVR alerts to send me an email notification with a picture if any motion sets off the cameras during the day.) The DVR works pretty good, especially the Internet related functions and comes with an economic price tag.
This may seem like an unusual spot for a security camera system but it really is not. As a matter of fact, I think that if you're going to shell out thousands of dollars for an RV a miniature security camera system should already be included. I purchased the Security Camera King 4 Channel Elite Mini Economy Series H.264 Real-time Security DVR for our Winnebago about 1 year ago and we have used it every time we go one the road! It works great, especially at night for giving us the peace and sense of security to allow us to rest easy. You can see people approaching the vehicle long before they ever get close to the steps. I had special mounts made for the cameras so I could attach them to the trails on the vehicle. The mounts are sturdy and the cameras seem no to be affected by the air currents/weather while the RV is moving. Inside, the DVR is connected to our LCD TV that is also connected to our dish by way of the VGA port. We can watch TV at night in the RV and switch the input to check on our surroundings. The 500 GB hard drive is way more than enough to record all night long during our trips. The DVR is small enough not to take up a lot of room and was very easy to place in the RV. It's a great economic alternative for security on the road!

My customers love these things! Whether it's a small commercial or a residential installation these DVRs are "just what the doctor ordered." They are reliable, economical, and still of high quality. They don't have a lot of extra features or connections but for a 4 channel installation those things usually aren't needed. What they do have is a good quality CIF resolution recording on all channels simultaneously with even one channel of audio. In fact, if you aren't particular about a real fluid motion you can drop the frame rate to 7 frames per second and actually record D1 (704 X 480 pixels) resolution on all channels simultaneously. The DVR has a VGA and BNC video output. Although BNC has been the standard for years I think that is starting to change and we'll see less and less on the BNC connections as the digital IP systems become the standard. At any rate, I recommend using the VGA output if you can because I think it is a much better picture. Probably, not many people would expect it with a 4 channel system, but this little DVR even has an RS485 connection to remotely control your PTZ cameras from the DVR. You can go up to a 3 Terabyte hard drive. If you record continuously (7/24) you can get about 3 weeks storage time out of a 1 Terabyte hard drive for four channels at CIF so that is pretty good. You can back up footage to a USB thumb drive or dump all the files to a PC using FTP or you can use external USB backup drives. This little unit even comes with amazing remote Internet control using a computer or a smartphone. This is probably the BEST 4 channel economy unit on the market today!

Techvision dvrs are the best on the market. I used to sell another brand(very expensive). This dvr is far superior in it's ease of use for the consumer, ease of setup for the tech and it's overall ability to be controlled remotely. This has become the dvr of my choice.
I was looking for a 4 channel DVR to replace my old DVR and I found it! I couldn't believe how economical the price is on this unit. CIF resolution recording on all channels at this price is good, but D1 even at a reduced rate of 7 frames per second is just fantastic! I monitor and record the exterior of my home with 4 security cameras. It's not that important for me to have realistic motion video as it is to know if someone is there so the 7 frames per second rate is just fine and the size, color, and detail of the display is great! The four channel playback on my large screen TV is also great. Since my TV has a VGA connection I just located the DVR next to the satellite box and the TV. Although I think the USB mouse is the easiest to navigate the on screen display menu, I often use the included infrared remote control from my recliner. I do have broad band Internet and I have connected the DVR to it and use my iPhone and my computer and work both to "look in" on the system when I am working or away. I can't believe the DVR has this feature for such a low price. I think this is an excellent economy system and I am very satisfied with it.
