This is the newest addition to our DVR lineup. Our Ultimate Mini DVR is similar to our Ultimate (Full Size) DVR is most respects. It features the newest Dual Core Processor and is capable of recording realtime video at D1 (704x480) resolution on all channels at the same time. This state of the art DVR has most the features of our Ultimate Series DVR, only in a smaller form factor. The major differences are that this more compact version can record audio on 4 channels, it can hold up to 2 internal hard drives for a total of up to 6TB internal storage if you are using 3TB Hard Disk Drives in Each SATA Port, it does not have loop outs (most customer won't use these), and it does not hold a DVD burner. Video recordings can be downloaded through the USB to a flash drive, or through the network.
When you consider that this DVR is almost half the price of our 2U (Full Size) Ultimate Series DVR, this DVR really cannot be beat when it comes to performance for value!
Our Ultimate Mini DVR features an embedded version of Linux OS. It also comes equipped with H.264 compression, audio recording on all channels and remote monitoring from anywhere via the internet explorer. This isn't a PC based DVR, which are subject to computer viruses and hacking; it's a standalone DVR and was built for one purpose to provide you with the highest quality video surveillance.
Our Ultimate Mini DVR is a very versatile DVR. It comes equipped with HDMI, BNC and VGA video outputs, this allows you to operate multiple monitors simultaneously and with the built-in loop, you can output a single camera to its very own monitor. In addition to all of this, every channel has its own BNC output, which allows you to provide video to a monitor or multiplexer. The Ultimate Mini DVR is very simple and easy to operate and setup. Our Ultimate Mini DVR uses a mouse-driven interface, which provides you with point-and-click control over every function and setting within the DVR. You can playback up to 4 channels at the same time at the DVR and you can playback up to 4 channels with our web interface, client software or our smart phone application. The Ultimate Mini DVR also has a Jog Dial, which allows you to quickly rewind, fast forward, and advance frame by frame right at the DVR. The DVR also supports Dynamic DNS, which means you don't need a static IP Address, which saves you money, because most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) charge an additional fee for static IP Addresses. With the Ultimate Mini DVR you have the ability to receive e-mail notifications from your DVR. All you need is a POP e-mail address and then configure the DVR to e-mail you updates to the POP e-mail address and that's it! So even if you're on the road, you'll never be far from you're DVR.

Nice Working, clean and neat DVR. It records all 4 channels simultaneously at D1 resolution and the video is very sharp and colorful. It records at this resolution at a real time rate of 30 frames per second, so the movement in the video is just as fluid as in real life. The DVR comes with four channels of audio input and bi-directional sound (which we use and is one of the reasons why we purchased this model) and four channels of alarm inputs and three channels of alarm outputs. It also has a variety of video display options that we couldn't find on other brands and that's another reason why we purchased Security Camera King's 4 Channel Ultimate. Perhaps our use is a little unique to require all of these features, but we are glad that Security Camera King actually had a four channel model that could deliver them all. We also use all three main monitor options out (HDMI, VGA, and BNC) and we also have one active spot monitor. We're talking a relatively small number of cameras on one unit here so of course the DVR can playback all four cameras at once. Once you get use to the control, the jog dial is a convenient controller for jumping ahead or back on the video recording. We ordered our DVR with plenty of internal hard disk drive storage plus the DVD burner as we do use it from time to time. IF that isn't enough storage, you can even utilize external eSATA hard drives but I really can't imagine someone needing that much video storage capacity for only four cameras. But then again, many people probably don't use all the features we do either, so I imagine it is a possibility. The unit has a USB port on the back and on the front so you can use one to plug in the included USB mouse and the other to back up video or make copies onto external USB hard drives or flash drives. Finally, one of the most impressive features of this DVR is how it handles all the security work and at the same time can integrate all of that with the Internet. All you have to do is plug it into your network or Internet connection using a CAT5 Ethernet cable and you can obtain remote access for viewing and controlling the DVR from a smartphone or computer. In fact up to 20 people at one time can access it. We have nothing bad to say about the quality or operation and Security Camera King's customer service is excellent. The only thing I will add is that unless you really need most of the features offered on this full size 2U unit, you may want to consider the smaller "Mini" unit which can handle the same number of cameras at the same resolution for about $350 less.

This is just about the top of the line when it comes to 4 channel DVRs, especially with all the extra options, functions, and features. To be quite honest, it may be considered by some even to be a little overkill. I think the two major selling points of this DVR is that it can record D1 resolution at 30 frames per second on all four channels simultaneously and still have plenty of room inside for internal hard disk drive storage. If you can afford it, you can really load this unit up with hard drive storage space, which in some cases may not be anything close to overkill but may be a requirement as well. As a rough estimate, if you are recording all four cameras simultaneously and continuously (24 hours) at D1 resolution and 30 frames per second rate, and using the highest quality setting for recording for each camera, you'll use close to one full Terabyte of space in 7 days. So if you need to keep the video for an extended period of time or don't want to mess with regularly downloading files to make room for more files, the extra space is a welcome feature. If you need to provide distributable copies of video footage and need to do so often, you may want to forego some internal storage space and go with the internal DVD burner. Security Camera King installs it for you and it is dirt cheap at a cost of only $37.95. Of course this DVR has lot's of other features (check them out in the "Descriptions" or "Features" tabs) but I'm sure as I have read on the other reviews and experienced myself, that the Internet accessibility is a big favorite. Another plus is the 3 year warranty. As far as the actual video recordings are concerned they are sharp, clear and pretty color correct.

The D1 quality recording on all 4 cameras at 30 frames per second simultaneously is of excellent quality, but then again it should be. Four channels is not a lot of processing work for today's processors so I would expect this DVR to handle the workload continuously even at a D1 resolution. The recordings are clear, colorful, and smooth. In my opinion, the three characteristics of this recorder that really makes it "rise above the rest" are the 1) electronic features, 2) physical connection and operation options, and 3) the three year warranty at no extra charge. Let's take the physical connection and operations first since they will be the easiest. The DVR is in a 2U case which means it has plenty of room for additional internal hard drive storage, or an installed DVD burner, or even both. The front panel has button controls to operate the DVR and indicator lights. However, the DVR can also be operated by using a USB mouse which is included or a remote control which is also included. The front panel of the DVR has two USB ports for convenience so that you can easily connect your USB mouse and some other USB device (like a thumb drive for example) at the same time. The back panel includes BNC connections for video and audio channels, wire terminals for alarm and RS485 connections as well as video ports for monitors that are compatible with HDMI and VGA. There's also an RS232 port for connecting a keyboard, an RJ45 Ethernet port, an eSATA port for external drives, and an extra USB port. I could write a book on the electronic features of this unit, but I will try to keep it brief yet informative. The OSD is user friendly and consists of icons, menu lists, check boxes, and radio buttons for making selections. There are several playback functions including standard and advanced controls. The OSD provides you with incredible recording options (including redundancy recording to RAID hard drives). Other features include general settings, Encoding choices, Scheduling, Network Settings, Alarm set up, Motion Detection, Display output choices, Hard Disk Drive management, and Backup configurations to name a few. Basically, it's got it all. You won't be disappointed by this DVR and furthermore, I challenge you to find one that does everything it does at the price listed by Security Camera King!

When we first considered a DVR for our security camera system, we were a little "gun shy" because we wanted a DVR that would record in D1 resolution but we actually needed three full monitors for our situation. I'm just guessing, but I would suspect this doesn't happen very often in most security camera installations. Also we needed to record audio on each channel as well. When we started shopping around I mentioned it to one of my co-workers who told me about Security Camera King. He had purchased his residential system from them. When I found Security Camera King's 4 Channel Ultimate Mini Series H.264 D1 Realtime Security DVR I was ecstatic! I could swear they had built this just for us! We purchased it about 4 moths ago and we've been loving it ever since. I was going to wait even longer before I wrote this review to see how it would last, but with a 3 year warranty I figured what the heck I might as well write it now. The unit is pretty amazing. It comes in a 2U rack mountable case (which we also needed) and has ample room to add additional internal hard disk drives for greater storage capacity. Besides the video and audio inputs it can even accept 4 alarm inputs and 3 channels of alarm outputs to devices or relays that can operate off of 12 VDC. As I said in the beginning, we have 3 full time monitors: HDMI, VGA, and BNC and they all work fine. You actually have the choice of recording in D1 or CIF but we definitely purchased this for the higher resolution (D1) capability in real-time. The DVR comes with its own USB mouse and an infrared remote control, either one of which can be used to operate the On Screen Display menu system, as well as the buttons on the front of the case. This DVR has so many extra features and capabilities it's amazing, especially the remote access option. Connect the DVR to an Internet connection and you can have up to 10 Internet users simultaneously access the DVR and cameras. You can also have the DVR send you an e-mail when an event occurs so you can use it like an alarm while you are on the go. We also ordered the DVD burner installed which is a steal for only $37.95 more. The DVR works well without showing any signs of wear or being "overwhelmed" and the recordings and displays are clear, crisp and colorful.

I'm just an average homeowner that purchased this DVR for my residence. The DVR works great! The D1 resolution on all channels in real time is excellent and shows up clearly on my Large Screen LCD TV and monitor using the HDMI video output. I must say I did learn one very important lesson from this purchase and installing my own security camera system and that is to do your research BEFORE you make your purchase. Though there really is absolutely nothing wrong with this DVR unit, I realized after purchasing it and installing it that I basically "over bought." I really don't need tons of storage; my thinking was if a movie DVD holds 4.7 gigs and only lasts two hours than I had better spend a lot of money on internal storage and go with the Ultimate model instead of the mini for that reason. I didn't realize that security camera recording mechanics were different. Also, I've never really had an occurrence yet in the six months that I've owned this DVR to use the DVD burner. Now even though the burner unit was less than $40 to have Security Camera King pre-install it for me, it was another necessity I reasoned to purchase the full size Ultimate instead of the Mini version DVR. I guess what I am trying to say is this. If you are a do-it-yourself type kind of person and want to install your own security camera system, do some thorough research on what you'll need and why, even talk to Security Camera King's staff to ask for suggestions, before making your purchase blindly. It could save you a lot of unnecessary expense. As far as the DVR goes, I have no complaints and it works well.
First let me say that I haven't found a Security Camera King DVR that hasn't been made with the utmost quality built in as well as some rather ingenious features that you won't find in any other DVR. That being said, let's consider this full size Ultimate model. When you compare it with the "Mini" Ultimate here's what the full size Ultimate has that the "Mini" doesn't. The ultimate full size has:
1. eSATA ports for adding external hard drives for storage.
2. The case or unit is twice as big.
3. The ultimate can hold up to 8 internal hard drives (the "mini" only 2).
4. It can support an internal DVD burner (which must be purchased separately).
And that's mainly about it. So the full size Ultimate's biggest advantage is support for more internal (and external) storage. So if that is important to you, then the full size series is the way to go. If on the other hand, you can live with a limited amount of storage that the "Mini" offers I would suggest saving almost $400 and going with the "Mini."

I'm not a professional CCTV installer or dealer and I barely qualify as a do it your selfer. This is the first security camera system I have ever owned, installed, or operated. A very close friend of mine recommended Security Camera King and after shopping around for a while I decided to purchase the 4 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR. At this point at least, I'm glad I did. The DVR is pretty amazing in that it records 704 X 480 pixels or D1 resolution at 30 frames per second. Although I am not familiar with security camera systems I am very familiar with digital video concepts and I must say that this resolution and rate for four cameras at the same time is pretty processor intensive. However, the Ultimate DVR does an excellent job of keeping up without any problems. No crashes, no reboots, not even any dropped frames and the quality of the video is very impressive, not to mention that the color is very life like. Take all of this and display it on an LCD TV/monitor using an HDMI cable and display it at 1080p and you have a pretty impressive video recording! Meanwhile, while doing all of this video recording work, the DVR has a many other features and tasks that it can perform with ease including providing remote access via the Internet. If you are a newbie like I am at using security camera systems, you can feel confident that this DVR will do the job and do it nicely. In addition to the quality production, it also comes with a 3 year full warranty to back it up.

This is a full size, all-out version of a 4 channel DVR that can easily record D1 resolution (704 X 480 pixels) on all channels simultaneously at a realtime rate of 30 frames per second (you can drop the resolution down to CIF too if that's what you prefer). Security Camera King's 4 Channel Ultimate Mini Series H.264 D1 Realtime Security DVR comes loaded with a ton of features that either enhances your security camera system or your general security as a whole. First the unit is big enough to support a DVD burner for back ups and hard drive storage up to 8 Terabytes. In addition, the DVR supports eSATA so you can add additional external hard drives if you need it. The more storage you have, the less often you have to do dump backups or worry about short re-recording time loops. The DVR can also handle 4 separate channels of audio as well as 4 alarm inputs and 3 alarm outputs. (These alarm inputs may not be numerous enough for some applications but they are excellent for applications like apartments or specific localized areas.) This unit gives you a choice of three different types of video connection, HDMI, VGA, or BNC. I suggest the HDMI because it can display in 1080p resolution, it is the most "universal" type video connection these days, and you can use it to transmit the video and audio at the same time to your monitor. The DVR works off an On Screen Display (OSD) menu system that is controlled by the included USB mouse or infrared remote control. It can also be navigated by using the buttons on the outside of the DVR. Finally, you can even hookup an Ethernet cable to your broadband Internet source and have the DVR send you alert emails to your phone, or remotely control the device and watch the cameras using a computer or a smartphone or iPad. This is just simply amazing.

This is a maximum performance high quality professional 4 channel DVR. With the capacity for an 8 Tb hard disk drive (and more storage options if you want it) you can practically sit this thing up and walk away from it without touching it for several months or more. You can also order this unit with an installed DVD burner (which I think is definitely worth the small expense) for making up back-ups and copies. The DVR not only has 4 video channels but can accept up to 4 audio channels as well. And, as long as we're talking about the number 4, it can also handle up to 4 different alarm inputs (and 3 12 VDC alarm outputs), and it can playback all 4 channels at once.. It offers professional style video outputs including HDMI, VGA, and BNC connections as well as loop outs for spot cameras on each channel. The higher resolution display works excellent for covering all the activity at our cash register and for monitoring the traffic flow at our one entrance/exit. With our large hard disk drive I really don't foresee the need for any additional drives but the unit can handle additional internal as well as eSATA external drives as well. Even though we have a DVD burner, we often use the USB Flash drive option for copying footage too. Finally, you can't beat the remote accessibility with Internet connected devices like a computer or Smartphone. This option allows me to stay in constant touch with my store if I feel the need.

I've owned this DVR for just a little over a year now and I can say that it works great, it's dependable, and I love it! I own a 24 hour automatic and self serve car wash. There are several vending machines on my property that contain things from car wash supplies to DVD rentals. With this unit and my four cameras I am able to monitor all the activity in the wash bays as well as the customers at the vending machines and the rest of the perimeter of the car wash. Using the D1 recording with s couple of high resolution cameras, I can even capture license plates of customers as they pull into the bays in case they are needed for future use in the event of damage claims, vandalism, etc. I have a small storage room where the supplies and maintenance equipment are kept and I have the DVR located there in a lock box for extra protection. I have had broad band Internet installed so I can monitor the premises anytime I want with my PC or Android. I use the alarm inputs for the storage room and bay doors when they are closed. The DVD burner has been useful to me too, as I have had a few instances of random vandalism, customers abusing the equipment, and one out right theft. On each occurrence I was able to make copies of the video footage for proof to give to the police and/or insurance company. I only used a monitor for set up, as my phone or computer are my monitors via the Internet most of the time. This is an excellent system and I highly recommend it!

My security camera installation business is doing pretty well these days and part of that is due to Security Camera King. Their products are top notch high quality and their sales and support staff know a thing or two about customer service. I have a lot of clients that wasn't the visibility of a D1 recording resolution at real time but may not want to pay a lot just for a four channel system. That's where the 4 Channel Ultimate Mini Series D1 Realtime Security DVR comes in. I find that quite often my clients' environments demand special cameras for special areas, even with only a four channel set up. So quite often I am purchasing the equipment by component, instead of purchasing a package system. I don't really need the package systems anyway because I do have some of my own cable and other supplies that I don't need in the package. Therefore, this DVR is the one that seems to sell the most often among my "4 channel" clients. They like the small size, the powerful recording ability, the Internet capability and the inexpensive price. As for making back-ups or copies, the USB port serves the purpose just fine. And, to be honest, I think more of my clients end up using their work or personal computers or smartphones as monitors more often than a designated system monitor like a flat screen LCD. This DVR is a good product and Security Camera King knows what they are doing. I'll be back, time and again.

Long gone are the days of having DVR systems that take up an entire desk. This system is tiny, slimmer than most cable set top boxes and packs a mean punch. The features that are included are unbelievable. Add in the HDMI support, mouse driven interface and support like no other, and you have a winning DVR. The LT mini series is my go to system for clients who are wanting the power of full on system without the cost. The lack of a DVD burner is minor as most police and client situations will accept backup via USB systems instead.

I bought this DVR about 8 months ago. It has continued to work great. I have to give it a fiver star rating because I really can't find anything wrong with it or to complain about, seriously. If I could I would give it a five plus! This DVR is loaded with features at a price that is incredibly reasonable and that is about $400 cheaper than the "full size" Ultimate DVR. We use this DVR for a variety of functions including recording license plates and identification of facial captures so we generally only have the DVR set to record when it detects motion. That means we don't have to worry about a lot of storage potential and the size of the unit is just fine for us. We don't need a DVD burner either because if there is ever any need for reproducing files on a DVD, we just transfer them to our USB thumb drives, download those to our computer, and burn a DVD on the computer. The DVR works very well and handles the recording very well. It records at D1 resolution on all 4 channels at 30 frames per second simultaneously and the D1 video recordings are clear, sharp and color true. The D1 resolution makes license plate ID a heck of a lot easier than the smaller CIF resolution, but yet it doesn't cost a whole lot extra to get this type of recording. We don use some of the audio and the alarm features and they work just as well. We also use the HDMI video output as a matter of convenience because our computer monitor has multiple ports and inputs so we can use DVI for the computer and HDMI for the DVR. The DVR has an On Screen Display or what Security Camera King calls a GUI or Graphical User Interface that you use to operate the DVR. This can be controlled by using the buttons on the front panel, a remote control (included), or a USB mouse (also included). We prefer to use the mouse, but the other methods work equally well. The OSD is pretty intuitive and easy to navigate, it doesn't take long to get familiar with (it took me longer to learn how to use my TV's new entertainment system). The DVR also has some pretty fancy remote Internet access options and we make full use of those. The technology available today is just incredible. Another of the selling points for me was the full 3 year warranty. I wanted something I knew I could depend on for longer that just one year. This seems like the right choice.
I use these for my Neighborhood Watch security so the Web Interface gets used a lot as we have centralized all our monitoring. The interfaces are very intuitive which is the best part of these units.
This is my second one of these units and I plan to buy one more for our Neighborhood Watch security. The Web Interface is what I mainly use and it is very intuitive to use.

This DVR is Great! I recently purchased the Security Camera King 4 Channel Ultimate Mini Series D1 DVR after my old GeoVision card went bad. I should have bought one of these DVRs a long, long time ago. There are so many advantages to having it in addition to not needing to tie up my main computer or to have a second one to manage the security system. To DVR does an excellent job of making high quality video recordings on all channels and is definitely easy to install and pretty easy to set up too. (It sure beats having to take your computer apart and add a PCI or similar type card to you computer, then load the drivers and software, etc., etc.) Not only that, but the DVR kind of works like a computer by itself. I love the Internet remote access feature. I can usually get to my cameras most of the time. For me at least, it was a good buy and I am happy!

If you only need a 4 channel DVR but you want a good quality display and performance, this DVR foots the bill (for me at least). I wasn't looking for anything fancy when I began shopping for my home security system but I wanted something with a display resolution higher than just CIF. This Ultimate Series DVR seemed to meet my requirements and then some so I gave it a serious look. If you are not a professional CCTV person, don't let the $299 price fool you, it's more for comparison purposes than anything else because you will still need to purchase an internal hard drive. With a pretty good sized 1 Terabyte hard drive (pre-installed by Security Camera King) you can get by with a price under $500 for the DVR and hard drive. At first look, that seems a might bit expensive compared to other brands, however when you start to dig deeper you'll find that the other brands don't have all the features that the Security Camera King Ultimate Mini offers. Some of these may be excessive for some people (for example I only need on monitor) on the other hand they may also add to the flexibility in use of the unit (for example, I don't need three simultaneous monitors but the HDMI, VGA, and BNC output options allow me to use a variety of single monitors based on their connection.) You can also enhance the security of your particular area (in my case, my home) by adding alarm functions that the DVR makes possible. Another excellent feature is the Internet connectivity. This unit can send you an e-mail notification based on a triggered event. If you have a smartphone, tablet, or are at a PC, you can remotely access your system and instantly see what's going on. To me, that's incredible. Finally, this DVR has something else that I wasn't able to find in any other brands and that was a 3 year warranty. Many sites offer two or three year warranties, but they consider anything longer than 1 year an extended warranty and you have to pay extra for it. It's hard to be disappointed by this DVR.

I have worked with several other brands of DVRs and this one is clearly superior in several ways. Feature functionality is outstanding, especially the intuitive nature of finding things.
The best feature is the PC software interface and layout and ease of use. Hats Off to the interface designer!

I bought this DVR about 4 months ago. So far it works great! I've given a four star rating because I want to wait and see how it does over time. If everything is okay, I'll definitely bump it up to five stars. This DVR is loaded with features at a price that is incredibly reasonable and that is about $400 cheaper than the "full size" Ultimate DVR. We use this DVR primarily for recording license plate captures so we have the DVR set to record only when it detects motion. That means we don't have to worry about a lot of storage potential and the size of the unit is just fine for us. We don't need a DVD burner either because if there is ever any need for reproducing files on a DVD, we just transfer them to our USB thumb drives, download those to our computer, and burn a DVD on the computer. The DVR works very well and handles the recording very well. It records at D1 resolution on all 4 channels at 30 frames per second simultaneously and the D1 video recordings are clear, sharp and color correct. The D1 resolution makes license plate ID a heck of a lot easier than the smaller CIF resolution, but yet it doesn't cost a whole lot extra to get this type of recording. We don't use audio or the alarm features but they are some of those available too. We doo use the HDMI video output as a matter of convenience because our computer monitor has multiple ports and inputs so we can use DVI for the computer and HDMI for the DVR. The DVR has an On Screen Display or I guess Security Camera King calls it a GUI or Graphical User Interface that you use to operate the DVR.
