650TVL Auto Zoom True Day/Night Color At Night Bullet
Review by Don Newton on Jan 30, 2014
We purchased this camera for a special application where we needed some minor zooming action that could be controlled automatically but didn't want to fool with an infrared LED illumi9nator system. We needed to preserve natural color for our shots as much as possible. The motorized varifocal lens on this camera is quick and responsive and controls well using the RS485 connection. We played around a little with the remote control when we first installed the camera and it worked fine, but quite honestly we haven't touched it since - we prefer using the RS485. Light sensitivity for this camera is, well, excellent. The zoom power could leave a little to be desired but it satisfies our needs. The OSD is helpful in adjusting for shots that require some picture enhancing changes. Security Camera King technical support guys were very helpful for us in getting this thing set up properly, the way we needed it.

650TVL Auto Zoom True Day/Night Color at Night Bullet--Great Camera!

Save this camera for special ops. This is an amazing camera for the price. At 650TVL resolution you get a great color video with this camera even with very little available light. The camera has a high price tag but quite honestly I think this camera could often be considered for use when others may be contemplating a several thousand dollar FLIR camera with a much lousier image. Auto-zoom works well although there isn't an large difference in focal length (2.8 - 10mm) in other words its not a big magnification zoom but none the less it certainly does the job for us and we are very satisfied.

I've been dealing with Security Camera King for about 3 years now and have never had an issue. My customers have all been satisfied with their products and I am happy with their sales staff as well as the great technical support team that they have. Recently I received a contract for an installation that required a varifocal lens camera with true day/night color video recording which could be controlled remotely. This camera seems to fit the specifications very closely, although I must admit I have never installed one until now. I placed the order for the camera and it was shipped immediately (it must have been because I received it in three days). The install was like any other bullet camera as far as the mounting was concerned. I ran an extra pair of RS485 connection wires for control of the 2.9 to 10 mm remote varifocal zoom lens and the On Screen Display. I must say I am impressed myself with the performance of this camera. It does an excellent job of recording true day/night color video and with a recording resolution of 650TVL it almost is maxed out in that characteristic. Although the motorized zoom lens is controlled remotely, the focusing feature is automatic which is convenient. Since my client already had a Security Camera King DVR I knew the remote control of the lens via RS485 wouldn't be an issue but if for some reason it is or you require otherwise, the camera does come with an included remote control.

This is a nice, high end bullet camera. The color video it captures is clear and sharp, even in dark conditions. The camera is built rugged with a solid mount connection that although it allows you to make position adjustments to the camera, it is not weak or unstable. The camera has a mild zoom capability with a varifocal lens length ranging from 2.8 to 10mm. The varifocal lens, iris, etc are motorized so they can be controlled electronically from the point of the DVR or from the included infrared remote control. The remote control may have limited range based on the objects between the remote and the camera so if you intend to use the remote control, it's best to test it while installing the camera in case you need to use your RS485 connection instead. The camera's digital wide dynamic range feature does a pretty good job of eliminating lighting problems and the OSD has other features that can be adjusted as well such as back light compensation, white balance (which is normally automatic but can be set to manual), mirror, and motion detection. The camera is dual voltage so it can be placed on a long cable run using 24VAC power if needed. All in all, this is a very nice camera especially when applications require color in lowlight conditions and you don't want to worry about zooming out of range of IR LEDS or washout from being to close.

We purchased this camera for monitoring and recording an open field area behind our storage facility for both day and night. There is a fence at the border of the property, but it requires a zoom lens to really be able to identify who may be back that far. The property strip is narrow enough that a PTZ camera isn't needed for lateral movement. The 2.8 to 10 mm DC iris motorized zoom lens is just good enough to provide the zoom we need and the super low light sensitivity is sharp enough to give us an image with out the need for infrared illuminators, etc. We have this camera connected to our Security Camera King Ultimate DVR and the RS485 connection works fine for controlling the camera.

There is something about this camera just elicits high quality and performance. We received this camera about 5 days after we ordered it. Like most bullets, it was easy to mount; we had no problems there. The camera is connected to the mount on a system that allows you to place the camera in just about any position so that isn't an issue either. There are two fantastic features of this camera that make it so special. One is the varifocal 2.9 - 10mm varifocal motorized DC iris and auto focus lens. With this feature you can mount the camera and automatically zoom back and forth based on your needs. Unlike the high cost of a comparable PTZ camera, this camera has Zoom only so there is no pan and tilt function. The lens works great and can be controlled by either remote control or via an RS485 hook up. The second great feature is the true day/night adaptability of the camera. There are no infrared LEDs on this camera because it is rated to produce color video in 0 LUX lighting! That augments the zoom function all the more because you don't have to worry about the zoom function taking you out of range of any infrared LED illuminators that occur on other cameras. The combo works great, and if you have an application that this camera could fit, I would highly recommend it. As I mentioned earlier, it does come with an RS485 connection so you can access the OSD. The OSD has a lot of features that can enhance your shot including digital wide dynamic range, motion detection, gain control, white balance, and back light compensation. It's an excellent product and I certainly have no complaints.

650 TVL Auto Zoom True Day/Night Color At Night Bullet Camera -- Excellent Camera!

As you must know if you are interested in this item, this isn't your average bullet camera. I'd say it offers more than just a convenience, more like a "special" use, what ever that may be for you. This camera has a 2.8 10 mm varifocal lens which really helps to narrow in on the shot you need or to make it wide and "grab everything" if that is what you want. It's got a 650 TVL resolution combined with 1/3 inch Sony High Resolution Superhad CCD and DSP to produce a video recording that is excellent in quality and darn near perfect in color correctness. Of course one of the most important parts to the camera is its automatic iris motorized zoom lens. And since this camera is a true day/night camera, you don't have to worry about "ranges" for infrared illumination. However, I will add that this camera picks up stray light from our other infrared cameras that may be in its field of view and that light actually enhances its night time recording. The camera comes with a remote control but we really don't use it, Instead we have run a pair of wires to the camera from our Security Camera King DVR and we use the RS485 connection to control the lens and the On Screen Display menu system. There are lots of features available on this camera including white balance, gain control, back light compensation, digital wide dynamic range, digital zoom, and motion detection. It has done an excellent job for us and we love it!

650 TVL Auto Zoom True Day/Night Color At Night Bullet Camera -- Very Nice!

Review by Bartell Industries on Jan 30, 2013
We had this camera installed about 6 months ago. We have a special application for which this camera fits the purpose exactly. We don't need a PTZ but we do need a quality zoom camera with a good day/night feature and this has both. We use the RS485 on our DVR to move the zoom lens even though the camera comes with it's own remote control (we figure there is less hassles and greater convenience using the RS485 method, plus we want to be able to control the OSD with our DVR too). In case you are curious, here's some of the features that are contained in the OSD: Digital wide dynamic range, motion detection, mirror, white balance, back light compensation, and gain control. The video quality is excellent color quality for us day or night. We'd recommend it.

Dig down deep in your pocket to buy this camera, but then again, you don't get a special camera like this for 50 bucks! First the obvious, it is a true day night camera so that means no infrared LEDs needed here and color shots down to the lowest available light. The next item that makes this camera so special is the lens. The 2.8 - 10 mm motorized lens with automatic zoom control, focus, and iris is controllable from the DVR using the RS485 connection. To Top things off this camera has an On Screen Display Menu system that can also be controlled from the DVR and offers a wealth of video enhancing features like variable shutter speeds, white balance, back light compensation, gain control, motion detection, digital wide dynamic range and it even has a 10X digital zoom! This is a good specialty camera that lives up to the expectations of its price.
