Complete 16 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security System
Review by Gall, Lou, See Them First Security on Aug 04, 2014
As a professional CCTV installer (independent contractor) with 15 years experience I have 6 of that dealing with Security Camera King. I can tell you that I can easily vouch for the quality and customer service of this company. Should you ever received an inoperable or damaged product, just call them and they will take every opportunity to make it right. As for the their technical support staff, they are obviously installers themselves because they know their products inside and out and can help you with just about any "unusual" situation you can conjure.

As for the Ultimate Mini package system, I just don't think you can beat it in quality, production, or longevity. The only problem I have with it is not with the system itself but the it's sister system the Elite Mini. I mean if you are looking for an economical system that doesn't require all the features of a full system DVR but you still want quality video recording, I wouldn't even consider the Elite anymore. Years ago the CIF used to be the standard for display resolution in security video cams, but with today's technology super systems with megapixel cameras and high definition displays are attainable. Yet, the standard (the best for the function versus price) I think is now the D1 recorder. Now the Elite can record in D1 but only at 7 frames per second where as the Ultimate can record at the same resolution but in realtime at 30 frames per second. And, for a 16 camera system, the Ultimate Mini is only $130 more than the Elite! SO for my customers, I only bother to mention the Elite if I have to because experience has shown me that the price difference is nominal for the extended quality of the Ultimate. Nice high quality video monitoring and recording, lot's of options, and still plenty of features. Can't beat it!

This is a nice package deal with a reasonable price. Security Camera King obviously developed this Ultimate Mini recorder with less options compare to the full size unit to achieve a less expensive unit. I can attest that they did NOT however, sacrifice any quality pertaining to video security recording and monitoring. This unit records the same great videos in D1 at 30 frames per second as the full size unit. The DVR is simply in a smaller, thinner case which doesn't have as much room inside as the full size unit does. Even though the cameras are simple, no OSD cameras, the 800TVL resolution on these cameras is great and they still do an excellent of automatically making adjustments to capture clear, sharp video. We are very satisfied with our 16 Channel D1 Mini package system and would highly recommend it to others.

Good gear at a good price. The Security Camera King techs are very helpful. The quality of the recorded video is unsurpassed by other "comparable" systems. This is one of those of "solid" deals you don't see too often, so I would rcertainly recommend it while it lasts.

I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said but then again I've always been known as "wordy" so I'll give it a try anyway. This Security Camera King 16 camera Ultimate Package system is a nice multi-camera “enterprise” level type package. If you install this system yourself, I bet you’ll save at least $3000 to $5000 minimum, versus paying to have it installed. (I think a more realistic figure would be around $5,000 to $8,000 but I was trying to be conservative). You’ll like the details of the high resolution 700TVL cameras, especially when recorded at a D1 resolution, and the flexibility the varifocal lens and OSD (On Screen Display) menu give you is you choose to purchase cameras with these options. On the other hand, if you are going to install this system by yourself (alone) without a portable monitor, good luck! It’s pretty tiring and takes a long time to keep running up and down ladders and back and forth to adjust and aim the cameras without a portable monitor or at least a second person to help. The DVR unit works great. We record audio on a few channels and it does a good job maintaining quality video recording while integrating audio recording with it. These DVRs are actually designed so you can use them as “Security control Centers’ somewhat. They also have alarm inputs and alarm outputs (12 VDC relay) and the alarms can be integrated with the camera operation or to initiate totally separate devices. Meanwhile, you are not confined to one main monitor either. In our case, we use all three monitor output options, HDMI, VGA, and BNC. The HDMI has the added convenience of carrying sound so if you have a monitor with speakers or a newer LCD TV/monitor you can watch the video and listen to the audio through the same device. The DVR unit itself is thin (that's why they call it the "Mini" I think) but is still large enough to support 2 internal hard drives. It can also use external “USB" hard drives and that’s good because if you were to record all 16 cameras simultaneously and continuously, 24/7, it would take about 4 Terabytes of storage for seven days of recording although the 2 internal hard drives can hold about 6 TB total if you choose). My big favorite (as I imagine is also the favorite of many that own this system) is the remote access you can gain by using the Internet. All you have to do is plug the DVR into an Internet connection using a CAT5E cable and then follow the set up instructions (or call Security Camera King’s support staff for help) so you can eventually set it up to be accessed by your smartphone, personal computer, tablet, Blackberry, etc. You can even set the DVR up to e-mail you if a camera detects motion so you can monitor it as soon as you receive the notification. Finally, I’m no professional CCTV installer so I had a couple of stumbling points with the set up of our system. Security Camera King’s support department did an excellent job of addressing my needs and helped get me up and running fast. Those guys know their business, and I don’t think there is a security camera question that is too difficult for them. As you can tell, I’m a satisfied customer and this system and Security Camera King in general has earned a five star rating from me.

This is a good quality standard type 16 camera system with simultaneous recording on all channels at D1 at 30 frames per second. The industry standard for resolution used to be CIF but I think with the introduction of megapixel cameras and such the standard is probably now a minimum of D1, which this DVR seems to handle with no problem. The cameras are good but in reference to what I just said, heck why not make the standard package with 700TVL resolution cameras instead (without the need to upgrade if you want them). I didn't order the plug and play cables because for our application the 1500 foot length of Siamese cable had a better application. However, I do have to agree with a review I saw earlier about the BNC connectors. I have had my issues with standard crimp on connectors in the past (usually due to cheap crimping pliers or bad connectors) so they are not infallible, but I do like them even more over the "twist on" types included with the package. That's a petty thing compared to the quality of the video, the options in the DVR, and the package system price.

I own 3 local gas station/convenience stores just outside the metro area and each of this has a 16 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR System in it. They work great! I've customized them a bit my bumping up the domes to 70oTVL resolution cameras and I have replaced two of them with 700TVL Varifocal bullet cameras. I use the domes in and around the store and register and the domes cover a total of 8 rows of fuel pumps outside. Right after installing one of the store's systems we had an attempted robbery that night. The cameras caught everything and the two guys were caught by the police within the next day. The idiots stood outside and put on ski masks to hide their identity because they new the store had camera protection inside. They stood right underneath and out of view of the bullets when they put on their masks, but apparently they didn't see the domes I had mounted in the eaves to cover the front of the store and the bullets! I've seen security video clips on the news and mine couldn't even be compared to those. First, the ones on the TV are usually black and white; mine were full, color correct, crisp videos. Second, the resolution on the ones I see on TV must be the lowest possible or their systems just aren't high quality, because I can tell you we (and the police) had absolutely no problem making full facial recognition on these two before the put on their masks. If you are able to run some wire and put a few screws in a camera base, you can easily install these systems yourself. If set up or configuration is a problem (or installation for that matter) Security Camera King has a very helpful and knowledgeable support team; don't be hesitant to contact them it will save you a lot of time and grief should you encounter a problem. I love this system as it works like a charm and I have not complaints about it. I would recommend it to others.

16 Channel Ultimate-Protection, Price, Performance

Review by Nash, David (North Carolina USA) on Nov 25, 2013
I started my own business from the ground up, and still believe in playing a very active roll in the "hands on" tasks that we need to do, so I guess as far as a video security and surveillance system goes, I am a "do-it-yourselfer." I also did a lot of shopping and research before planning and purchasing my system. I actually started out at home improvement stores, checked out wholesale clubs, electronic stores, etc. Those systems seemed cheap enough in price, but they also seemed cheap in quality. I got a couple estimates from local professional security camera companies for a 16 camera system and installation and I figured I could save myself and the company a ton of money if I installed the system myself. Security Camera King had the perfect solution for me with their Complete 16 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System. I purchased the 700TVL higher resolution cameras and both hard drives. At first I thought I would be short on internal hard disk drive storage space, but I soon learned that with motion detection and timed recording I had plenty of space. I read the other reviews and many other system reviews and I took the advice to purchase a service model from Security Camera King too. I purchased the CCTV LCD Tester Tool-WLCDM3 and it was well worth the $150 dollars in price since it saved me from running back and forth to the DVR. I also must add that Security Camera King has a terrific technical support department and with their help anyone can install their own system.

This product does well. We are a little concerned with the twist on BNC for a commercial application but they would be great for the first time installer and easy to use.

I purchased your Complete 16 Channel Ultimate Mini DVR Security Camera System, Product Number PACK-ULTIMATE-16-MINI a few months ago for my store. I wanted to wait a little while before commenting to see how it would really work. I can tell you that as of now I am still totally satisfied with its performance. I originally installed the system myself; the cameras are easy to mount by just inserting a few screws. Once they are mounted, the cameras can be adjusted for the proper angle of view by just moving them with your hands. The 600 TVL resolution is great. The plug and play cables worked well for me because they were long enough and already had the connectors fitted saving me the grief of crimping twisting or whatever. The DVR is loaded with features - so many that I can't mention all the ones I like here, but I will comment on some of the ones I like. I use an audio input (I purchased the microphone and wire from you separate from the system) on my cash register camera. The DVR records the video and audio extremely well. I use the HDMI output to my main monitor and it works great. I don't know a whole lot about resolution and pixels and such, but I can tell you the DVR records a very clear, fine, video and the color is very close to reality. Your on screen display menus make it very easy for the average person to set up or change settings on the system. Finally, the remote access feature is just incredible. I have an Android phone and I use your app to access my system when I am not there without any problems at all. To summarize, as I said in the title, I'm totally satisfied!

Review by Flying Z's Truck Stop and Restaurant on Jul 23, 2013
I'm the owner of the Flying Z's Truck Stop which we recently opened. Shortly after opening I realized a security video camera system was going to be a must. I needed about 15 dome cameras and a PTZ so I bought this system and the PTZ from security Camera King. (I'll keep the extra dome as a spare in case I need it).I don't really need a lot of internal hard disk drive space nor an internal DVD burner as I can copy and video footage I need onto my flash drive and transfer to my computer and burn the DVD from there. I have the DVR located in my office right next to my personal computer so it is very convenient. I do record audio at the cash registers, not so much for "legal" reasons but more for my own liking. (It can help with discrepancies that may pop up with the clerks and/or customers.) With this system, I get full coverage of my pump islands, the convenience store/cash registers and the restaurant. It operates the PTZ camera on the parking area just fine (we actually have it tour or scan automatically unless we need to take manual control for a specific reason). I did have to go with the 1500 foot Siamese cable (actually I had to order an extra reel) so unfortunately I had to attach all the connectors myself. I installed the system myself and it took me about a week total, not working full time. I also purchased your wrist strap monitor which was well worth the price considering all the time it saved me adjusting the cameras. I also have the HDMI video out connected to an LCD TV monitor in my office and run the VGA video out to the clerks behind the register. Finally, we have a large BNC monitor at the entrance that let's visitors know the place is definitely being monitored. Finally, I'm the only one that uses it, but I love the remote access feature. I've downloaded the app for my Samsung smartphone and use it quite frequently to check in on the place when I am not there. Not only does this give me security in the form of protection but I also get security in the form of peace of mind too. I also use my personal computer at home and have downloaded the program for it.

I'm pretty handy with do it yourself jobs so I was reasonably certain I could install this system myself, but a 16 camera system is a bit of work. But the installation cost I saved based on the estimates I got from local companies was UNBELIEVABLE! Even more so, your technical support department did a great job in answering my questions and helping me a couple issues. After seeing the equipment and dealing with your support staff I am certain that just about anyone could install their own system themselves. I'm a thoroughly satisfied customer.
