Security Camera King's SVEX-Q15 Explosion Proof Dome PTZ Surveillance Camera is a tough all-purpose explosion proof dome camera made out of stainless steel. I can't say exactly what we use this camera for but I can say that it does a pretty good job and I'm sure it can withstand some serious pressure forces. As a stainless steel dome camera, I didn't expect the camera's motions (Pan, Tilt, and Zoom) to be as quick and responsive as they actually are so that was definitely a plus. Of course if you are going to purchase a camera of this caliber and cost, you definitely won't do so by solely reading my review but regardless of your intentions I suggest that if you are interested in this unit that you contact Security Camera King's sales or support folks as they are extremely willing to help. The only thing I'd prefer this camera have that it doesn't is a slightly higher color resolution. The resolution of this camera is 480 TVL in color and 600 TVL in black and white. However, I can say that the 23X zoom lens helps to make up for picking out detail if you need to. The digital zoom may help a little but usually in the lower ranges as the more digital zoom that is employed the more the distortion affects the video. This camera also has many enhancement features that make getting the shot you want with this type of camera so important. Excellent performance, strength, and quality.

Excellent explosion proof type camera. We use this camera to monitor the operations on our rig so it is an outdoor camera used in a marine environment and it works extremely well and holds up good. The video display on this camera is pretty detailed in black and white with a resolution of 600 TVL, color is less at 480 TVL. However, that doesn't mean this camera can't pick up on some details because the 23X zoom lens helps compensate for that. In addition the 10X digital zoom can enhance the optical zoom many times over. The camera has a pretty good low light sensitivity although that's not much of an issue for us since we always have daylight or artificial lighting. If you change the camera from color to black and white the low light sensitivity is even greater. Of course like many explosion proof PTZ cameras the focus is automatic but can be accessed manually. This camera also comes with a lot of electronic features that can enhance your video recording such as wide dynamic range, digital image reverse, and automatic (or manual) iris control. The camera works great and hasn't required any repairs or additional maintenance.

This is obviously a special use camera and it works exactly as your specifications sheet says it should. This camera is used in our "Volatiles and Hazmat" area to monitor the systems and even some gauges. The zoom works really well as does the auto-tour monitoring features. The room this camera is in is built mostly of concrete block and reinforced steel. I think if there was ever an ignition, the room would fall down before the camera!!
