If you are reading this review, you may be considering the purchase of this HD-CVI camera so I am writing my review with the intention of directing it toward those who are new to HD-CVI and those who are switching (upgrading) their current analog system.

If you are upgrading your current analog DVR system to HD-CVI, this camera along with an HD-CVI DVR is a vast improvement in resolution over a 700TVL type analog camera. The video picture is clear, much more detailed, and noise of interference free. We have purchased four of these cameras and they work great. These cameras are a basic plus type camera with some useful electronic features. The camera has a 3.6mm wide angle lens and on board infrared LEDs that give it a solid 50 foot range in total darkness. For me, I consider that basic. However, this camera goes one step above that in my mind because it has an On Screen Display that allows adjustments to electronic features such as white balance, gain control, back light compensation, digital noise, and day/night video capture.

That being said, if this is your first security camera system and you are using this camera with a HD-CVI DVR I sure you will be satisfied with the resultant video. If you are upgrading from an older analog system, you'll be happy to know that not only do you not need to run any new, additional cable, but you will notice a big improvement in picture quality, clarity, and detail. In addition, whether you are new or upgrading, you may have the need to contact Security Camera King. My experience thus far has been excellent with them both with their sales department and their technical support. Therefore, considering the type of camera and the price, I would rate this camera at 5 stars.

I purchased this camera when it was one of the first HD-CVI vandal domes offered by Security Camera King, but now that I see there are many more, I wonder what the difference is between this one and those because for some there is a substantial price difference. There is one major difference that I should point out, although I don't know if this consistent with the other cameras as well; I believe it is unique to this camera. In addition to the power and BNC connectors, this camera has two bare wires that can be connected together and the camera becomes usable for wireless technology or even in a regular DVR. Although this would seem to defeat the high definition purpose of this camera, this can come in handy when installing the camera and using your smartphone as a portable monitor. IR range is 50 feet and it has a 3.6mm lens but a decent OSD. I am going to rate this at 4 stars because I'm not totally sure about the justification of the more expensive price for this camera than the others.

As I said in my review of the Security Camera King HD-CVI 720p Indoor/Outdoor IR bullet camera, this camera produces a very good picture at 720p and I do like the HD-CVI system. The price is right as well. It may night be as good as a full 1080p resolution image but it is very close and the price difference makes it worth it to me.

Excellent camera with strong performance standards. This camera produces a high definition 720p security video even at a distance. The video recording is color correct, clear and sharp, and fine in detail. Infrared mode works well and in addition the camera has good low light sensitivity. I recently installed this camera and the bullet version of this and everything went extremely well. See my review of the bullet camera for full details. Definitely the wave of the future for customers that desire high definition and long cable runs with conservative pricing.
