When you download a .dav file remotely in PSS or SmartPSS is that .dav file in the highest resolution? Or is the absolute highest resolution ONLY from the DVR with a USB thumbdrive for example.

I'm not talking about remote viewing. I'm downloading .dav video remotely. My goal is to get the best video from the DVR.

Please explain in 250 words or less....

The .DAV File in both a remote Back up or Local Backup will have the same Quality of Image. You only loose a bit of Quality when converting the Format other than that if the image is 1080P you will get a 1080P File in .DAV Format.

I thought so, but wanted to be sure the cops were getting the best video without me having to drive down to where the DVR is to get the best .dav file.

I noticed a little loss of resolution when converting .dav to .avi then to mp.4

Let me ask....can a .dav file be uploaded to Youtube as a .dav? ...... Nope I just tried, YouTube did not recognize.

Thanks for the fast response.

You can use the Converter from .DAV to AVI . Youtube will accept AVI files.

Actually YouTube gave me a warning that file type was unknown and that it would try to upload .dav file anyway. It worked! I'm suprized.

The video quality on YouTube looks very good. You tube still tells me it's not a desired video format. The link I got from YouTube lacked an icon and had the little square with a lighting bolt through it meaning something was wrong. But it did work.

Good to know but I don't think I can count on a .dav file working on YouTube every time.

What's the best way to publish cctv videos on Youtube or Live Leak but without your personal information being out there for the bad guys to find. But I still want the cops to get the links to the video but just not on my family YouTube channel.

You can have the videos Unlisted and only people with the link will be able to view them.
