one thing that is often forgot, is that these units are a security device. they have a 3 failed attempt lockout, what this means is that when the account has 3 invalid attempts, the account locks for 30 minutes, and then will be accessible.. Keep in mind if you are trying to access these units with PSS software, the software only successfully accepts 8 characters. so if your password is longer and you continue to try and access the unit, you will lock the account.

Okay, so if an account gets locked by someone entering the wrong password the only way to unlock the account is to restart the DVR? I know the correct password I just had a customer try the wrong one a few times which locked the account. I had another account setup so I just got in and restarted the DVR which worked but was wondering if there was another way to unlock an account if you can login using another admin account.
The best way would be to wait the 30 minutes and then input the proper password. If you need it immediately, you can call us during our regular business hours and we’ll be able to unlock it for you with a special code that only our techs have access to. If you want can also create multiple admin accounts so if one of them gets locked, you can still get in through one of the secondary accounts. Just make sure those accounts are only accessed by one person so that this DVR isn’t less secure by having multiple people with admin access.

You can disconnect the DVR from the network first. Then reboot the unit while unplugged from the network. After the unit reboots the try to login using the mouse right on front of the DVR. I you are able to access it then some computers or phone apps have the wrong password. what DVR model is this?, if you can take a snapshot of the interface of the DVR’s local interface attach it here in this post. Just FYI, your account will continue to be get locked if you do not change the password on those devices trying to access the unit,
