Has anyone used 2 readers connected together to control 1 door?

Should I just connect the 2nd reader to "out" reader terminals on the controller board.

I was trying to avoid running a new cable all the way back to the controller.

Yes it can be done. Although the board will see it as an incoming/entering user. For anti pass back its best to have a separate reader. Your shielded cable should have enough conductors for both readers.

So, if I just parallel the 2nd reader right off of the 1st reader(at the reader itself not at the control) it should work?

The doors are about 5 feet apart, access the same room and the customer does not have a problem if both doors show as one in the access software

The board would see the signal from the same door. You can have two on the same input as the readers will not see an output at the same time.
