Hi,

I need help on DVR.

I just bought a 4-channel HD DVR. I connect a camera to DVR through BNC,  and connect the DVR to monitor through HDMI. After power  up, the monitor has black screen for all channels. The channel status shows "signal loss". I tried other channels, they all do not work. I have tested the camera by connecting it to the monitor directly through RCA, it works ok.

Any suggestion.

Diycctv,

if if you plug the camera into an RCA monitor and it works, that means it is an analogue camera.  Not all HDCVI recorders can also do analogue video.  You need a tribrid DVR or to switch your cameras to HDCVI cameras.  What model DVR did you buy?

Diycctv,

The unit you have is not a unit that can handle analogue cameras.  That is strictly a HDCVI recorder.  You will want to switch to HDCVI cameras to get the best resolution and functionality from that machine.  There are several inexpensive solutions offered. http://www.securitycameraking......2-ctg.html.  There is also a sale going on now, to save even more.

Diycctv,

While the 1000tvl camera is a relatively decent camera, to optimize your resolution with that recorder you would want a camera with more resolution.  Such as the CVIOD-EL1MPIR50L28E .  This camera will give you full 720p resolution on that recorder.  Or you could go with the CVIOD-ELV22MPIR50 .  This camera will allow you to get up to 1080p at 15fps on the recorder.

Ryan,

Thank you for the suggestion!

Could you please confirm my camera can be handled by the DVR? I need help to figure out the reason of "video loss".

Best,

Diycctv

Diycctv,

The DVR you have can only do HDCVI cameras, no analogue cameras like your 1000tvl camera. It is showing "video loss" most likely as the DVR is getting a signal, but can compute the signal as it is analogue and not HDCVI.
