Why do my 3MP give me better clarity , resolution and lighting than the 8MP?  Shouldn't the 8MP be better?

ThanksConfused

Could it be the resolution settings you are viewing the camera on?

Also it bears noting that without a 4k tv or monitor you cannot view the full clarity of the 8mp camera.  However if you are recording at 8mp you should still be able to digitally zoom many more times than the 3mp camera.

Ill see if we can get you in touch with our tech department for further assistance, by my estimates your settings probably need to be adjusted.

Remember that just because your comparing a 4 to a an 8 MP does that mean your image is going to be twice as crisp or clear. The 8MP blows the 4MP away when it comes to digital zoom. The naked eye is not going to see a difference between 4 and 8 when at wide angle.

Digitally zoom both cameras to the same thing and there is where you will see the difference.

ok..  really?? like I don't know the difference in digital zoom.    BTW.. the 3MP does not blow away the difference in image.

Dan,

I'm still waiting for tech support to get back to me.

Would rather have me return the entire system back to you for a refund?

The 8mp cameras are not worth the price.  Just installed 5 today, the first and the last 5 I will ever install.  Will be sticking to the 3mp motorized varifocal.

i agree with you...  I even purchased a 4K HD Monitor and have it plugged directly from NVR into monitor and no visual difference even on the digital zoom.

I was told the 8mp is much better on a 4k monitor ..

Maybe its the settings..   Should my FPS or Bitrate should be set higher?

rrondinella - two things to check.

1. Did you adjust your display output resolution on the NVR to 4K (3840x2160)

2. yes - your bitrate is very low - it is at 2 MP value. Try bumping it up to 4096 first (that is still a little low)
The starting value should actually be around 8192 for an 8MP camera - but if you set it that high - also set the Bit Rate Type to VBR insted of CBR. (Variable bit rate instead of constant) That will allow the camera to send smaller bitstream when it can.

Let us know if that helps.
