I have an NVR-ELE8 system that unexpectedly shut down last week.  I couldn't even power it up.  I suspected a power supply issue, but left it plugged in and turned on.  After about a week, it just powered up again and is now working fine.

Is there some sort of thermal switch or other internal shutoff?

There are a few details that need to be listed in order for someone to help.

  • How old are the drives, drives older than 2.5 years of age need to be replaced with a Surveillance Type Drive.
  • Are the internal fans working? especially if the CPU fan has one and it's not working then the recorder will need to be replaced. It will soon fail completely.
  • Is the Power Supply adaptor working properly? 12VDC should be seen at the end of the barrel connector.
  • Was it just the monitor or the recorder itself, in many cases the monitor or HDMI cable stops working as it should.

Thanks Jose.

The system was purchased in 2017, so it's almost 5 years old.  The main fan is working fine now.  But last week, everything was dead (like it would be if it was unplugged).  I don't know what the voltage was at the power supply adapter last week.  I didn't get a chance to investigate before it came back to life on it's own.

Consider replacing the drives when you have a chance, and monitor it to see if it happens again.
