I bought the elite 32 camera nvr (Security camera king eBay store).  Love it. Had it about 2 months. 20 (3mp), 1 (5mp) and 1 (1mp) It has from time to time frozen and needed a hard reboot.

This last morning it auto rebooted like normal but the screen stayed blank (hdmi).  The blue ring on the unit turns on and the lights on the board (sata and other power lights) are flashing. On the front panel numbers 1 - 16 do not light up as normal. I plugged in a VGA still blank.  When I unplug the hdds and cd drive the unit powers right up cameras appear on the screen.  If I have just one hard drive or cdrw plugged in it sometimes powers up. When I tap the top of the power supply unit the lights on the board get brighter.

My thought is the power supply unit what is yours?

What HDD are you using for this NVR? My guess will be the HDD. Also, what is the version and the date of your firmware? Some NVRs need their firmware updated so they can work properly with their HDD.

I need the exact model of the NVR please. Also for FYI, the blue HDDs are not compatible with our NVRs. But if you are having problems also with the CD-RW installed, we need to check it thoroughly.

Sorry, I had the HDD drives wrong. (I am at home at the moment).  The HDD are (2) Seagate Barracuda 2tb st2000dmoo1.  Not sure if that changes anything.

It seems like there is a firmware update for your NVR.

Use this link to download it: New firmware update 4-28-2015

Download the Config Tool and use it to update the NVR: Config Tool

Let me know if it works and if it solved the issue.

Thank you, I will.  I am in Arizona and won't get to it until tonight.  I'll get back to you on Tuesday.

I have to admit, I kinda rolled my eyes at the upgrade (after all it worked for months) but it did seem to fix it. THANK YOU.

Humbly,

Adam
