Hi,

Bought this camera from you and want to add audio. I have a mic similar to the one you sell. Do you have a tutorial on on adding audio, or if not can someone explain how to do the hook up? Don't need the talk option, just want to listen. Camera is trained on a birds nest.

Thanks,

Tubac

Hi Jose,

i realize I should have been more specific.

I have your 30x PTZ (30X Elite 2MP IP Network Smart PTZ - IPPTZ-EL2IR30X-D2US) it is powered by an inline poe injector which is IEEE 802.3at compliant and want to add a mic for audio.  The mic I have is similar to your powered microphone with a white and red male rca plug.
How do I hook this up so that it gets power from my poe power supply which is the more powerful
IEEE 802.3at needed to power the 30x PTZ?

Thanks,
Tubac

You need to power the MIC separately. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this that will power the device like with the PoE/12vdc Cameras Splitter that accepts PoE and 12VDC, this camera requires 24vac or PoE+ so that solution is not viable here. There maybe a third party solution but it will need to supply enough current, please see the cameras Spec. sheet for further details.

Thank you Jose.

Ok, should I be looking for a IEEE802.3at splitter? I don't see one on your site, but would that work to share power between my 24v PTZ and 12v mic?

Thanks,

Tubac

There are splitters that will output 24VAC, you will need to ensure it has enough Watts to power the PTZ and the MIC.

I see...after speaking to you I think the best way might be to power the mic with a 12v 1amp power supply adding a 50 ft extension cable. The 30x PTZ's audio leads on the pigtail are not terminated. What size plugs should I buy and would they be male or female?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Just to be clear, the camera has a poe+ injector for power. I plan to power the mic with a seperate 12v 1a power supply and just need to terminate the audio on the camera's pigtail. In that case I would just use RCA Male to BNC Female (single)?

Follow the How to guide and that is all. This is showing how to configure it with the MIC being powered by a 12VDC source.

Thanks, Jose

Just a couple more questions... I lost the tags on the pigtail of the camera. Is there another way to ID which wires are the audio  wires on the pigtail? Lastly what color wire goes on the plus side of the balun and which on the negative side. I am just about ready to do this.

Best,

Tubac
